That is a bloody lot. Has purple price inflated so badly recently? Is this red or blue side?

[/ QUOTE ]

Someone in a global channel I'm in sold a Purple (crafted) for 300 million last night... at WentWorths.

The prices on them have indeed gone up a lot.

On the other hand, the prices on a lot of things have been on the rise, though I think the effect has been distributed an subtle. I've been able to sell nearly anything that's not complete crap for 5M a pop crafted on villains. At that rate, it really doesn't take that much time to save up 100M, and that's not even considering the things you can sell for 50-150M (usually the high-popularity uniques like Miracles and LotGs).

Right now, my villains blow my heroes away in raw inf. Their high-end target purchases tend to cost more, though.

Anyway, if you bought all your IOs off the market and didn't get any good deals, I could easily see it costing 4.5B, at least on villains.

For the first time i purpled out a toon (5 sets of 5 purples, 2 of those sets are ragnarok and arm.) along w/ slotting him w/ the MUST HAVE io's (lotg: + global rech, miracle + recov., regen. tissue: + regen, etc.)

IT COST ME 4.5 BILLION!!!!!

I'm sure if i was a little patient, and decided to farm the cim. wall 24/7 i could have gotten it for less, but that is ridiculous...

So, who wants to play president and draw up a plan to get the virtual inflation down... other than taking out AE...

Add supply and you will get deflation...

Stop witch hunting farmers... most sell what they get so that add to supply and bring down prices.

Increase doing missions with rewards 47-52 regular in-game content.

Do TF's and SF's as you are leveling and after... merits are your friend.

Honestly, I don't think you need to give tips on how to make inf to a guy that said he just spent 4.5 billion on one character.

Well, considering he supposedly just spent 4.5 billion, yet is asking for a scrapper build where influence does not matter, I certainly have my suspicions...

Yeah. the same suspicions I had when he casually remarked he spent 4.5 billion while saying he never farms and showing minimal understanding of market pricing?

Plus the fact he calls it an "extreme build" makes me giggle.

People who feel the need to use real life gains to influence their in-game status sadden me. It's SO EASY to make money in this game that you have to be a real [censored] loser to support the Chinese sweat shops. Ironically, they don't even realize that they're the ones driving prices up through their actions.

This reminds me of the people who, instead of waiting in line in traffic, shoot to the front of the line of cars and push their way in at the last minute. They are the ones CAUSING the line of cars so if they'd just [censored] WAIT like everyone else, the line of cars would go away.

Oh well, stupid people just are.

Eh, I dunno. When I go to the office I take a toll road even though there's a free alternative. It's all about how much it's worth to save time and aggravation. As I've mentioned before on these forums, I dabble in the market but I don't find it particularly fun, especially when I'm excited about a new character that I'm itching to play. If there was a legal way to purchase inf I'd do it rather than mess with marketeering. It's not that it's hard, just tedious. I like having the option to pay to avoid tedium.

Wow, I take it back. The guy's posts pretty much scream "I bought my inf". What's funny is in his Scrapper post he indicates he spent his 4.5 billion purpling out his Fire/Kin. Why bother?!? He creates a classic farming toon when he isn't into farming? I suppose he thinks that Fire/Kins are as uber at all content as they are in carefully chosen farm missions. Speaking as a player who does have a purpled Fire/Kin, I love playing them but they're not godly in all circumstances. Damn good yes, but there are challenges my scrappers and brutes laugh at that would crush my Fire/Kin.

Oh well. I only hope he gets a hankering to play a villain soon. I'd like to sell him some my next purple drop at a "buy it nao" price.

Upon reading the OP, I think I owe warriorssorrow an apology. I'm so used to seeing "Prices are ridiculous and you f---ers are to blame" that I saw the second half of the sentence when it wasn't, in fact, there.

Sorry for misreading your post and responding in anger.

Prices ARE really high, whether you're buying or selling or both. Some of that has to be the last round of AE sploits, which created high level characters, created influence, but created no stuff for them to buy. It's a smaller version of that 2XP weekend with the "Welcome to Vanguard" exploit- they bought Wentworth's out to the walls. You couldn't get a level 31 Ruin Dam/End after that.

Some of it's the AE in general: you can't get respec recipes, purples, or PVP IO's from the AE so they're a lot more expensive than the things you CAN get. And you can get a lot of XP in a hurry without necessarily getting the stuff to match.

The cost of a respec recipe has gone from "slightly under 20 million inf" to "slightly under 80 million inf." Which says to me that 3/4 of the inf is being generated in the AE these days. The cost of a LoTG has not quadrupled, on the other hand. . . it's maybe 20% or 30% higher? I'm not sure.

I can hold my small, expensive housewarming parties for base builders. But that's not really going to make a big difference.

I like cranking the wentfee up to 12.5% on any transaction over a million inf, personally. ka-gouge!

Prices are high. But remember that prices are set by the buyers, not the sellers. If nobody was willing to pay more than say 10M for anything, then we Marketers couldn't sell anything for 100's of millions. It's one of the factors that seems to be lost on most people who tend to complain about high prices.

Actually, the OP is contributing to the very problem he seems to be unhappy with. The fact that he had 4.5B to spend on one character means that he did a lot of "Buy it NAO" purchasing, which contibutes to others thinking they need to spend 100M+ on one IO. Enough of such things happen and the "going rate" becomes that price.

Had nothing to do with what the sellers were asking, it's what the buyers were willing to pay.

I guess you just play a lot more than me. If you're looking at an unlimited budget scrapper.... let's call that potentially a 5 billion inf build just for grins. You just spent 4.5 billion on your fire/kin. So if you're claiming you made nearly 10 billion by farming the walls and doing ITFs, I certainly won't call you a liar, but let's just say I'm deeply skeptical.

You know, threads like this have me seriously considering shelving my fire/sr for a few months, pulling out his 3 purple sets, selling them, then buying them all back when I16 comes out at much-reduced prices.

no i haven't built my scrapper yet, i plan on purpling out all of my toons, i just decided to make my f/k the first, bc he's meh moneh mayka

and for those of u thinking that i bought my inf (which I DID NOT) why would i start a thread about fixing the virtual economy if i wasn't using it?

Because the virtual economy isnt broke at all outside of needing more supplies and therefore your ideas sound somewhere around misguided and ill-informed?

Just to play devil's advocate, even if you farmed every waking moment of the day, you're still asleep for at least 6 hours a day. You could be making 33.3% more inf per day farming 24 hours! But I'd consider "farming the hell out of" to be 4-6 hours a day. That's 600-400% more info you could be making by farming 24 hours per day.

i'm sorry i did my math wrong, i had 4 sets of 6 purples, and one set of 4 purples, i then respec'd to the 5 sets of 5 purples, i took out the set of 4 entirely, but when i added it all up i added the sixth purple in each set and the set of 4 apoc.'s that i had slotted, my build isn't 4.5, it's more around 3.2...

And yes i don't have a life, i work 4 days a week, on a work day i play for about 5 hours, where as on my weekend i play about 8-13 hours a day
