What's a Meow Farm?

[/ QUOTE ]

Meow teams, meow missions...whatever the code word for 'farms' in the MA was.

All I remember as a bunch of people standing around in AE broadcasting "Meow?" "Meow?" "Meow LFM!"

[/ QUOTE ]

*shudder*

As if role playing catgirls didn't freak me out enough already... seeing that spammed everywhere would have driven me to hide under the desk in a fetal position for a month.

[/ QUOTE ]

I was playing Crazy Old Cat Lady a lot during the Meow madness. Man, I had so much fun messing with those Meowers in broadcast...

However, I do feel they're much less likely to make radical changes or delete characters that have been power leveled anywhere outside of the mission architect.

[/ QUOTE ]

And why does deletion need to be a punishment that's on the table at all? If there is an exploit that is that egregious, fix the problem instead of fixing the player, unless they've been using it for months and months and trying to hide it from everyone. The idea of deletion should always be one of last resort instead of some knee jerk or scripted solution.

The meows were fixed at 42 comm officers, minions with lt xp, like other said. However, they had double normal xp. Several people set up maps that had an animation which interrupted comm officers casting portals as well.

IMO, the biggest problem was that this and several other exploits were known and still allowed to run for close to 3 weeks for whatever reason. There was a publishing blackout, but it came after this had been going on for a week or more, and frankly, it was serious enough to break a blackout if you don't want your new (steam, shelf-space architect box) players immediately getting shuffled into farming content. Saying "There may be repercussions" a couple weeks after its been going full tilt, when the servers are more populated than they have been in a very long while and the heavy majority of people are engaged in such activities just isn't going to cut it.

Publishing blackout doesn't explain why no comment was issued on the official forums regarding warnings about exploits.

The retroactive measures and the deliberate obfuscation are the hardest part to understand and makes people extra paranoid.

I think the whole thing can be summed up by the staff's amazing lack of mental flexibility. From Posi's posts, to shockingly treating the blackout time (which wasn't even admitted to until after it was over) as sacred despite what reason would suggest, to the total lack of preparedness with their public venues, it seemed the whole time like they were reacting, rather than acting.

They up to Something and yes they hate anything that cheat the system, however all these plans they making is to bring people out of AE and into normal Team Grouping and Tf Forming. So what i belive going to happen with !16,is the game play will be change in shuch a way that people will no longer need AE to lvl and go back to Normal grouping.Expect them to change AE xp or something to point where no one can AE it all the time,People might go back to PI Farms, who really no's for sure.

They don't need it now. I got 5 levels on a character in the last month and never went near an AE. I've played AE missions, but always with a level 50.

It was never a matter of need, it was a matter of efficiency. Having played around with it a little finally, AE does indeed offer some convenience and efficiency above and beyond playing the normal game. The incentives for AEing are too close, and probably better than, those of the "normal" game experience.

*shrug* The changes to custom mob and rank XP as well as the reduction of the ticket cap (hmm, don't think that made it into the patch notes either, did it?) ensure that most "normal" players won't bother with MA missions anymore, and the people who spent lots and lots of time making fun arcs with real storyline and custom NPCs that weren't ridiculously hard will now have even less people playing their arcs.

A lot of what I would say has been well said already.

I expect to use this feature when soloing high level characters to make things more interesting.

I expect to also get a lot of use out of the new feature with my SG. We usually team in groups of 4 or 5, and most of those teams could handle spawns for a team of 8.
I've been known to "accidentally" aggro additional mobs because we weren't being challenged.

One thing I noticed about the new "sidekick" system is that the level caps have been removed for the hazard zones. I'm sure this question has been asked, but I'm feeling lazy right now.....what if you're solo? Does it automatically bump you up to the minimum level? For instance: New character, level 1. If I go to PP, does it automatically put me at level 7 (or whatever the minimum level is)?

The only thing that they did was remove the minimum level required to enter the hazard zones...that's it. Now those zones act like the regular zones, you can enter them at any level. So in your example, your level 1 character can enter Perez Park at level 1...if they're solo and not sidekicked, they'll remain at level 1 and will be seeing a lot of purple.

Purple farms in Perez in I16, you heard it here first.

Bridging is no longer even possible. The new system prevents that from happening at all.

It will effectively eliminate 90% of the broadcasts and tells for fillers. That alone makes it worth it, in many players' eyes. While I was usually very careful about who and where I sent tells asking for fillers (and almost never used broadcast), I won't have to do that anymore.

We also don't know whether 1) these new difficulty settings will work in MA missions, or 2) if the drop rates will scale to the number of virtual teammates. However, if the drop rates act like they do in a padded mission currently (1 person getting all the drops their teammates would be getting) this change might serve to alleviate the rising prices of purples.
I don't think drop rates depend on team size, according to my observation it is based on map, not team size or difficulty settings

You'd have to have a lot of data to back that up to convince anyone. How in the world would drop rates be tied to map? This makes no sense, especially when compared to dev statements about how the rates actually work.

Run TV nemesis map or Unai's freak map solo or padded, you will get 12-14 IOs per run, just saying...

Back around I13 some players got together, gathered a lot of data, and killed a lot of mobs, and they found that the RNG for drops was decided not random, for certain maps at least (I'm thinking of Tavish Bell's demon ship map). That was supposedly fixed with I13, along with the issue of sidekicks getting more drops than their mentors, but it's possible things are still wonky. Note that by "not random" I don't mean "you always get this particular recipe, while your teammate will never get that recipe." Rather, I mean "the xth mob on this map will always drop something."

Basically, if you think drop rates are weird, there's a chance they could be, so gathering data would be prudent. I've been meaning to do the same but I've been quite busy the last few weeks...

I wanted to get my newer spines/FA onto test to try out the new difficulty slider, but the copy tool wasn't working at the time, so I ran with my old fire/kin, poorly slotted, and specced for ice mastery (had been just trying different epics out for my ill/storm waay back in the day) and i did 1/2 the old demon farm map 3 times, and got 2 purples, and they were the same one, ragnarok, i think dam/rech, but I may have forgotten. I just thought it was odd, and instantly thought back to

To the anonymous coward who neg repped me with "A sadly useless post..." in reference to my pointing out that Hellsminion had answered his own question, I'm very sorry that you lack the reading comprehension of even a second grader. It also appears that in a life-or-death situation requiring you to excercise your intellect, I personally would place my bet on the fruit fly that would be competing with you.

Thx for the feedback Enrious...I didn't neg rep you, but I did pos rep you to "restore the balance" :P

And to that person, I don't think it was a useless post either

....somehow, I have a feeling that "reputation" is going to be one of those things that I will want to disable...
