Discussion Server Downtime 7/16 8AM 10AM CST
Maybe someone should have a talk with whoever it is that maintains the server status page seeing as how for the second day in a row I have three different computers running different OSs and browsers telling me the majority of the time that the servers are up when they are clearly not.

I hope the reboot will stop my blaster from crashing.

You won't crash if you have a kin use Transference right after you nuke.
[ QUOTE ]
You do know that the server status page is broken, right? That as soon as the auto-update script runs, it goes back to the server status on June 24th?
[/ QUOTE ]
Charge fanbois $10 and call it the Server Booster and they might get it fixed.
heh as I'm sure they don't consider that critical it is rather annoying (although not as much as the chat bug lol) >.< what's up with that anyhow (server page)?

all these morning down times is messing with my schedule

I'm also disappointed with all the downtimes. Alone, they are not significant, but Yesterday, a larger one today, and tomorrow there will be a downtime for the double xp weekend, right?
Just seems that planning is disjointed at the moment. Or there's lots of problems occurring.
I generally don't mind the maintenance, though I'm thankful for the heads up. However, what I DO mind is that my Server Status Page is trapped in a time warp back to June 24th and displays the stats from this day around 90% of the time, thus being completely useless for monitoring server status to me. Not that I mind all that much, but it'd be nice if I knew when I could log on. I have an item pack to test!

Okay, I have to ask this.
If a fix for the animations was available this quickly, wouldn't it have made more sense to have waited 1 day to release the SuperScience Booster pack without the bugs?
Yeah, I know people have been whining all over the forums that it isn't available yet, when will it be here, etc. But 1 day to have a fix and it gets pushed out buggy anyway?
If it was something that was going to take several days, I "might" be able to understand not waiting, but 1 day? Seriously?

Maybe it's simply because the programmer wasn't able to identify the cause of the bug in time. They decided to publish since the bug is VERY minor and doesn't affect gameplay or anything important in itself. Then the programmer realized the bug was a simple fix that he hadn't thought about and quickly fixed it, tested it and it was released the day after.
Being a computer tech I know how a simple ; at the end of a line can be missed 20 times before someone sees it. it's called tunnel vision if I remember well, you see the same code so often that you "assume" something is right and you don't actually see the error until you take a break ( 5 min to a couple hours) and when you come back you find the bug and fix it ..... then you think how stupid you were not to have seen it before.
[/ QUOTE ]Been there, done that, burned the t-shirt! Worse is after you've spent hours going over it, someone else just glances at it and sees the error instantly.
I expect the ones asking why they didn't just wait a day has never worked in a professional programming environment. Or done any complex programming at all.

Animations at the tailor:
I can't get on Live yet, but I tried the tailor on Test just now. I talked to the Facemaker Nurse in Cap, and my wings are not animating. I talked to the cosmetic surgeon without buying any actual changes, and they animated. Now if that character returns to the regular nurse the wings animate normally.
I neglected to try the character creator

Aye! It reminds me of a nursery rhyme my mom used to sing titled "The Grand Old Duke of York" the chorus of which went....
And when they were up they were up.
And when they were down they were down.
And when they were only half way up they were neither up nor down.
There is always a lot to be thankful for, if you take the time to look. For example, I'm sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt. ~Author Unknown

If everyone would just refresh the page, it would kindly reload on June the 26th all over again. Trust me, I tried. It don't work.

Have you cleared your browser cache?
I cleared it now, and it seems to have made a difference, but I can't say if it won't loop back to the 26th again. It does that sporadically.
*edit*
Aaaand... Back to last month. Clearing my cache doesn't seem to have made a big difference.

Actually, yes, I have a degree in programming that I no longer use. I've done my share of programming. I know the frustration of not finding the reason a particular piece of code is not doing what it should or is doing something much different than it should.
I still do scripting for several things here on our network, mostly vbscripting, but I still have to watch my syntax and all just like in a real programming language.
If it were a case of someone seeing something finally that everyone else had been overlooking, why not have someone pop into one of the threads where Castle and/or BAB has commented already just to say "Hey, we finally spotted the problem and it's going to be a simple fix, but we were too late to make it into the patch going out today". To me, that would have been preferable to giving the attitude that "we'll push it out anyway, they'll pay for it, we'll get that fixed eventually" that some people already seem to think they have. Am I one of those people? Nope. But I see their postings here enough.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
