Time is Merits/Money

And if they have considered it, should they do it?
[/ QUOTE ]
In order.
I dont know and a heck no from me.
I refer the OP to the microtransactsions for IO thread for prior discussions.
Selling merits is basically selling IOs

We do not have the time to get the Infamy/Influence or Merits to get the IOs that we want.
[/ QUOTE ] If you have time to play the game, you have time to make billions of influence. Use the market. Minutes a day. Problem solved.
[ QUOTE ]
Some of us have to spend that time at work, with families, or with other real life issues. We do not have the time to get the Infamy/Influence or Merits to get the IOs that we want.
[/ QUOTE ]
And some of us choose to spend time at work and would prefer spending time with their families, and figure out alternative ways to get rare IOs.
Seriously, if it bothers you so much that you're willing to pay cash for in-game items, just change your play style a little. *shrug* And please, don't insinuate that this game means more to us than our families do. That might cover some folks here, but not everyone.

I often wonder if NCSoft has ever, in the interest of this remaining a casual MMO for casual players who don't have hundreds of hours to spend in game, considered selling Merits for money in the NCSoft online store.
[/ QUOTE ]If they want CoX to remain a casual MMO, they'll never, ever, do this idea.

NCSoft doesn't need to sell merits, there are plenty of "companies" selling Influence/Infamy as is.
And not for nothing, but sometimes I think some of the NCSoft staff have a stake in those websites...
Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?
Arc Name: Tsoo In Love

NCSoft isn't CCP.

It's really easy to make money in this game.
Here's how I make money on both sides of the game, since I can only log in for 1-2 hours at a time.
1. I run PvE content until salvage is full
2. I then run AE missions for some tickets
3. I then roll bronze rewards with my tickets until recipes full
4. Check market, craft profitable recipes
5. Sell IOs
That's it.

Too much work.
I use your #1 and my version of your #5 is sell common and uncommon salvage.
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
That's boring to me, plus I like merits, crafting and supplying the market with IOs (especially cov). So all my wants are met and I log into ~10-20 mil in a day. I'm ok with those numbers.

[/ QUOTE ]Nothing is bothering me. I just thought that this would be an interesting topic to discuss. Perhaps you'd rather go read in and post in one of the 8,374 threads on how the AE is killing the game right now. I suppose I could go make another one of those, would you prefer that?

[/ QUOTE ]I was not doing anything of the sort! All I was doing in that sentence was listing things off of the top of my head that people do instead of playing on the computer. Geeeeeezz.
I swear, some of you on this forum just go out of your way to take offense at everything! It's like I walk in and say; "Hello everyone. How's it going?" With a smile and a wave. But there's always one of you in the back who jumps up and screams; "Don't you take that tone with me!! It's not any of your business how it's going for me! You just mind your own business."
Seriously, some of you really need to quit getting offended and bent out of shape at everything.
I can accept that I misinterpreted your words, if you can accept that you certainly misinterpreted mine. Sorry about that.

Indeed!
First tip is free:
- underbid on a bunch of in-demand crafted generic IOs
- re-list at market prices
- profit
and a bonus tip since I'm feeling generous today:
- generic IO prices go completely insane (along with a lot of other stuff) during 2xp weekend. Buy up or craft a ton of stuff now, stick it in base storage and then make a fortune when everyone else is too busy levelling to worry about paying your gigantic markup.

Eh, I don't think I'd like it if merits were being sold. Not sure why actually, I just don't much do.

Some of us can spend the time in game to get the merits to get the IOs that we want.
Some of us have to spend that time at work, with families, or with other real life issues. We do not have the time to get the Infamy/Influence or Merits to get the IOs that we want. But we have another commodity instead of time. A commodity that we get in return for our time at our jobs, a commodity that many of us would willingly give some of to NCSoft in return for the time that we are unable to spend in game getting those merits.
That commodity is money.
Merits/tickets/Infamy/Influence, those are the commodities that you earn in game in return for your time. Money is the commodity that you earn in the real world for your time. I often wonder if NCSoft has ever, in the interest of this remaining a casual MMO for casual players who don't have hundreds of hours to spend in game, considered selling Merits for money in the NCSoft online store.
And if they have considered it, should they do it?
Would it be as great an addition to the game as IOs were? Or as big a mistep as putting the AE building in Atlas Park just a few feet from where newbies enter the game world? Would this contribute to more PvP activity on the live servers, and give the PvPers more time to spend PvPing? Or would it worsen the already wide gulf between the casual and the hardcore?
