4 cor's
Shocking. In my experience they'd ask "which do I want" or "what do these do". I've even had them take the power and simply not turn it on when we were together.
Primary Sets:
1. One Dark Blast. The aoe immb can be really helpful especially all of you are ranged and it will help Rain of Fire and Ice Storm.
2. One Ice or Electricity Blast: Single hold can be really helpful.
Basically, I would go with one Dark Blast, two Ice Blast and Sonic Blast. You can replace Ice Blast with Fire Blast if you want.
As for secondaries, you want some mez protection so I would go with either /thermal or /pain.
Typically a /Dark is really good for aoe and fear and debuffs. /Radiation is only good if you want to pull them together.
Final list:
Ice/Dark (or Fire/Dark)
Ice/Storm (Hurrican is good!)
Dark/Cold Domination (TT keeps them in Freezing Rain)
Sonic/Thermal or Pain
Hurrican is good if all 4 of you stand within the radius. No melee can get close!
But honestly, any secondary can stack up to an overpowering state.
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

I guess it depends on how excitable the kid is xD
I admit Suichiro and I have not seen things eye to eye at times, but this is priceless:

Corr teams are fantastic and rip through purple walls of XP like Olestra chips through an intestinal tract.

My two cents:
The kids take whatever/Willpower brutes combo. This is pretty safe and if they over-aggro, the Rise to the Challenge will make their regen skyrocket. Mom and Dad can help with macros to re-toggle when the bad stuff happens. One adult should take Thugs/Storm. The thugs for amazing firepower, also for the cushion of gang war if things get crazy, and you need a good aggro sponge. The other thing is freezing rain can get the drop, as well as gale, so that you hit them before they hit you. To fill out, how about a Fire/Dark. This would be a sweet compromise on all the debuff and good buffs, too! Fireball, tarpatch, twilight grasp, fire blast by level 4, add rain of fire at level 6. Now, that's a fast build out of the gate.
Triumphant Defenders Forever
Psylenz FF/Psi, ArticQuark Storm/Rad, Symon BarSisyphus Bots/psn, Max VanSydow Thugs/Dk, Cyclone Symon Bots/stm, Blue Loki Ice/Cd, Widow 46526
HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.

You mean kids around you listen when you speak from a position of authority? That's unpossible.
I thought free-range child rearing was all the rage...
Having raised several of my own (kids that is) and played this game with my son I have to agree with the Brute/Corr combo. My son (who was 12 at the time) played a SS/Inv Brute and I played a Ice/Kin Corr. It was an awesome combo. We joined many a PUG together and I always made sure to keep him buffed and alive. It was fairly easy to instruct him how to toggle up and charge in and since we were in adjoining rooms I could always let him know when to hold back and let me pull before he agro'd something we couldn't handle. Now if */WP had been available I probably would have had him take that instead and if you are concerned w/the KB SS/* might not be the best way to go (it sure was a lot of fun for him though). Nice thing about Thermal or Cold is that shields are very visible and easy to maintain (as opposed to Kin's SB or Rad's buff aura...name?...not that they are particularly "difficult").
Consider that you and your wife (I assume) will be in charge of buffing and healing the Brutes as well as directing the combat tactics while throwing around some dps. And consider that your kids will only have to concern themselves with attacking the chosen target in tandem knowing they have 2 Corrs watching their backs, so to speak. I think you have the makings of a power team.
For the Brutes there is nothing simpler than SS/WP but if you think they can handle it DM/WP is the easy button and avoids all the issues w/KB.
You may want to consider one */Thermal and one */Cold so you will know when your shields need to be re-applied (for, I think, obvious reasons). The primary really isn't as important, I took Ice/* for the control but really any of them will work.
GL and please post your team and results when you get it up and running.
I really appreciate all the posts. It sounds like I'm going in the right direction with the brute/cor combo. I have a pretty nice and easy SS/WP build for the kiddos.
I'm not sure about the cor's though. I definitely want at least 1 */cold, and 1 fire/*. I can't decide on the second secondary between */dark, */therm, and */rad, and I've heard calls for /sonic over /therm.
I'm really not sure on the second primary. I have a lvl 50 ice/therm cor, so I'm familiar with that. I'm interested in dark, or even a second fire.
So, 2 SS/WP, 1 fire/cold, and 1 fire/ice/dark//therm/dark/rad.
I'm going with SS over DM so they have AoE to keep aggro off of squishy ma and pa. I think /dark would be a good choice with a better heal than /rad, and a good mix of control and debuff and shadowfall to pair with arctic fog. Then I throw a second fire primary and use snow storm and tar patch to keep mobs in the rain of fire. Also keeps them grouped to fuel RTTC for the boys.
That is sounding better and better to me. fire/cold and fire/dark with two ss/wp. That might be the ticket.
SS is a late blooming primary. The AoE doesn't come until level 32. Dual Blades has several knockdowns and several cones and most importantly you get to tell the kids "YOU GET TWO SWORDZ!" Nearly all the attacks are good and can be taken in Dual Blades so basically they have oodles of buttons to mash without Hasten/Recharge IOs.
Pretty much all the Corruptor secondaries are amazing. Thermal or sonic are pre-emptive so if you tend to lose sight of the kids that might be the best bet. The shields are already on them you don't have to follow them to debuff the enemies they may encounter on their own. On the other hand Dark or Rad or Storm turn all the enemies into trash cans. Dark getting it's slow super early, Storm in the middle but it has Knockdown and Rad the latest but it gets all that other Rad goodness.
I'd lean towards Sonic/Thermal or Dark because they bloom the earliest. I think early blooming is a key attribute.
I would say DB/WP, Fire/WP, Fire/(Dark or Rad), Ice/Cold
I'm really having trouble choosing between dark or rad.
SS/WP - without a Billion Infamy IO build I'm not certain it would be my pick.
Fire/WP - Cheap and effective. You could do this build with the bargain basement yard sales.
DB/WP - It's simply beautiful to watch, who cares how good it is. It also happens to be decent.
Fire/Rad - I love the darks, but Rad is a bit more well rounded Jack of all Trades. It'll ease off the defense/control a tad, but up the offense and endurance. It's also smaller radius than dark, but is also amazing. If you find Fire/Dark Defense/Control overkill, then Fire/Rad would be my next choice. Alternate AM and Heat Loss for nearly perma +endurance.
(Fire or Ice)/Cold - You can't go wrong with either.
Fire/Dark - An amazing build. simply amazing. One of my top picks. But chances are it will be defense/control overkill, and you may well be better served by the additional offense/recharge/endurance provided by /Rad.
Fire/Thermal - Meh solo, but would be nice for the team to add some resists and spot healing. I'd prefer the dark myself, but I'm a bit biased toward the dark playstyle.

This does sound good. The only criticism I'd make is that you only have smashing and fire for offense. Fire is good, but if you happen to run into a foe that's resistant to both smashing and fire, these combos could be a little hard.
I'd consider mixing up the offense. Maybe make one brute Energy/WP, and one Corr Dark/ or Ice/. That'll give you more of a mix and cover more situations.
I don't think that this team is going to have any problems with resistant enemies due to double -res debuffs and -def as well. That's completely ignoring what damage types the brutes will bring.
What I do see as a potential problem is that the kids might not enjoy having their cool outfits covered up by 'stupid ice' the entire time. Might want to ask them how they feel about that.

Actually I have the same issue I wish they'd change the graphics to something like what you get from the slow aura (I forget the name atm), sort of a bluish misty glow.
Fire is uber kool though!
How about an Ice/Kin and a Fire/Dark Corr combo for buffs and debuffs with 2 */WP Brutes for beatdowns. Pretty much any primary for the Brutes will work (my current fav is DM...just rolled one and I love the dark tendrils from the punch animations).
Again, please post your final team design and the results...thanks.
It's easy to get kids excited in a different powerset. Once they've chosen, however, it won't be as easy to get them to avoid a power called Hurricane.
