doublefusion
It's for the in-game ads. That, you know... don't seem to exist anymore.

There was a system for showing in-game ads. The company that managed the advertisements was called Doublefusion. I don't think it was much of a success and haven't seen any ads for a long time. In fact I'm not even sure Doublefusion is still in business.
Sucks if the thing really has been dropped all together. I thought it was kind of a neat touch except for the part that it was only ever one ad at a time and sometimes repeated several times in a small area.
Then again, I have seen advertising in big cities like that...

I agree. I think their main problem was demographics. They were trying to sell sneakers and special edition Sidekicks to people who play a computer MMO.
Seriously, did anyone that plays this game even remotely consider buying those? I doubt it.
They should have been advertising for Red Bull or Pepsi, Doritos or Granola Bars, Taco Bell or Panda Express. Hopefully they'll get it back up and running someday.
If you use WindowsXP, you can find all the ad images in the following location:
C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\NCSoft\CoX\cache\data
The newest ad I have is dated 9/24/08 and is for the Tony Hawk T-Mobile Sidekick.

They missed out with not advertising Super Hero movies.
I made the suggestion of having contests like they did in Earth and Beyond. Players could make up ads for the game for products and such that could exist in the game. People got free game time and other goodies if they were selected to get put on an ad board.

Pretty sure Euro got Babylon AD ads. Not exactly "Super Hero," I know--but it'll be a cold day in hell when Marvel or DC pays NCSoft.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

I wonder if DCO flops... Nah, these are the same morons who cannot figure out how to get the Adam West Batman series out of DVD. You're right.
total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
This is the only MMO I can think of where billboard ads would make sense, and they screwed it up.
Eh well, expect more WoW-flavour Mountain Dew.
