Booster Pack: Furries!
I find myself agreeing with the original post. I'd really like to see some more Furry costumes added to game. I'd like to see some fox tails, some beaks, some crane ears, animated tails... although the moving tails has come up a lot and from the way I think Sexy Jay has phrased the response before, the only way we'd get animated tails is if it was an option like a cape. I believe Jay has said that he's trying to stick to only one animated object on a player. Sounds fine to me.
I'd also be thrilled if Paragon Studios got a couple of Furry artists to design some costumes for the game. The idea isn't without precedent, Paragon Studios / NCSoft have been signing up Sci-Fi and Fantasy writers for Mission Architecture content. Would it really be that big a deal to get artists like RH Junior, Miss Mab, or Holly Ann to come up with some costume designs?
I wonder if they could somehow have tails and capes listed under the same section so tails could be worn with belts.

Now, whether Jay does or doesn't "hate" furries (in the same way BABs "hates" Aquaman), he seems to simply not be a fan, and as such saddling him with these designs might simply not be a good idea. Forcing artists to go out of their style and comfort zone tends to produce questionable results, which is why I agree with getting on board an artist who specialises in non-human, non-mechanical costume pieces. Jay is incredibly good with armour design and tech weapons design, and his work on basic clothes has been impressive, but when it comes to non-human pieces, like animal heads or appendages, or even just tails... Well, I don't know how many of the ones we have I can credit to him, but suffice it to say that we just don't have almost anything in that vein, not on player models, not on NPCs. And it'd be nice if we did.

Not least because I'd love to get some ancient gods (and ancient-god-derived characters) in game. I have wanted a bird head, a decent dog head, snake head, etc. for a long time. (And I'm not that fond of the female reptile head.)

CO doesn't use the same engine. There was a revision break way back when Champions Online was still Marvel Universe Online and was being manufactured as the replacement to City of Heroes.

both companies ran with it into their own way but its the same engine. Like how most FPS uses UnrealEngine3 with heavy revisions but its still UE3 and their will be hard limits. Non human chanraces may be the CrypticEngine limit

but its stillthe CrypticEngine, revised or not the source IS the same.

It's more than a revision break. Cryptic built a brand new animation and development tool from the ground up for MUO which became the engine for all their non-CoH projects. |
i fear it may be a limit of the system, we have those in CO and CO uses the same engine...their...not so good.

Looking at what we have, in game, now, we already have monsterous faces that project out a bit. Looking at one of the breathers from the science pack, it's not even limited to "Must be within X of face," as it reaches down and attaches to the chest.
There may be a limit to how far forward something can project, but even within currently visible models I can see multiple dog, bird, etc. styles as possible.
More technically it is extremely unlikely that the costuming engine is incapable of handling a given object geometry. The hurdle, then, is constructing geometry that looks good.

By the same token, we already have animal fee - claws, hooves and insect feet, and even robotic claws. We just need a few more, like, oh I don't know... PAWS! Seriously, something less groutesque would be cool. We already have tails... The SAME tails we had over five years ago. OK, we got an extra one in the Bunny tail (which I've used for a bunny and for a panda), but come on, now! And the only decent non-human hands we have are the Monstrous, and they're the only ones. I'm not going to go into lobster claws or silliness like that, but at least paws might be nice.
See, the funny thing about Champions and their animal parts is that their are REVOLTING. Their tentacled hands and feet are absurd, most of their animal heads range from grotesque to cartoony, and about the only decent parts are the Anumbis head and all the parts to make Beast from Beauty and the Beast. Though ours are better, they too skirt the line of grotesque a lot more than I like. I actually really like the idea of hiring an artist to do just that, someone who's actually into that stuff, because I'm sure that'd produce some pretty decent costume pieces.
As I've said numerous times, graphics don't mean squat when it comes to how good something looks. It all comes down to the skill and vision of the graphic artists that use these graphics to create in-game art, and while City of Heroes falls squarely into the "really cool" category, the animal parts really, really let it down.

Well if we can have that huge robot arm or the Pirate hook, I dont see why we can't have lobster claws. I also dont see why we cant have snake torsos or real bird beaks.
"Samual_Tow - Be disappointed all you want, people. You just don't appreciate the miracles that are taking place here."
The fewer people who think they're a wolf in this game, the better.
::Edit::
Yeah, I know the username is an irony, but its an anime reference not a "fursona"

If YOU don't like them, don't use them. It's not your place to decide what anyone else does.
I want a pack of more natural but cool (none of the devs will get this) clothing, FINALLY! No furries... but real comic book stuff. Some heroes and villains don't wear ninja, sci-fi or magic like clothing. There are other things, unfortunately not enough right now. Throw a guitar power in for the bonus power. Makes them dance, long recharge etc. I just want the clothing really.

You want T-shirts and pants or something? We've had those forever and you can put logos/patterns on them too.

So I'm not really getting where your saying that you want real comic book stuff... but you don't want stuff that actually already is in comic books.
Also: I can't remember where, but I've heard a rumor that the mutant booster is slated to have animal bits.

(<3 FW)

Lesse... Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Savage Dragon. Wolverine. Beast. Batman. That's just off the top of my head of real comic book characters who feature animal inspired: aka: FURRY designs.

it was kinda joke.

I'm all for adding more animal bits, especially things like bird beaks and other things that aren't currently represented at all in the game. But things like more canine and feline-like heads, more paw/claw and foot options, and more animal tails in general could go a long way to fulfilling several character ideas that are sadly falling short with the current options.
So yes, I'd really like to see the Mutant Booster have a wide range of animal-type costume pieces.
At least until the "yiffing" starts. Then everyone dies.
