I'll give it another go. Not too keen on the themes thing though, seems kind of limiting.

I think themes make this game/exercise more of a challenge, which leads to more interesting creations. Stretches the imagination a little.
Heck, I'll play this time, sounds like fun.

I am in too.
I like the theme idea in theory, but it does seem to lend to limiting the over-all idea sometimes...at least it seems to be the case whenever friends and I try themes, it can make everyone sort of look the same.

I had a thought (I know, a first), I was thinking that along with random pair-ups, we will have random themes. If you think this is a good idea, chime in with suggestions. We don't need a different theme for every pair-up, but several would be nice. I already mentioned parody and futuristic, and Bayani had planned Golden Age. Any other suggestions will be considered.
Hmmmm, steampunk, cimeroran, genderswap, praetorian, villain-group themes (such as Council, Freaks, Vanguard, etc.), post-apocalyptic...the list could go on.
This sounds interesting, I think I'll give it a go.

I'll join but i have to say i think its fun to see what other people will do to your toon. Having a Theme will mess up a lot of guys like if we do something with tech i really don't want to put a magic guy on it just will not be the same. The last round was fun and i think having a theme will just make this kinda of stupid and not sure if i really would want to join in then
[edit] maybe make the theme optional and have the theme decided by the person remaking or by the original creator to of the costume to make all people happy.
Because, you know, a bunch of grown men and women playing dressing up digital dolls is serious internet business. Really, is there *that* much harm in giving themes an honest-to-goodness effort? "Picture This" is a short game that exercises and challenges the imagination. What's the worst that could happen? A re-imagined character that looks sucky? 'Cause I gotta say, there are plenty of not so rockin' concepts running around in CoH. I don't think creating more is going to hurt anyone.
If you want to see how interesting a theme could make things, check out Marvel's limited series, 1602. The Marvel Universe shifted into the 17th century. Really, I don't see how a theme "limits" things. The only thing in a game like this that's really stopping you is your own imagination. Step out of the box a little and see what you can really do. A theme is a challenge that would only help you be a better writer/designer in the long run.

I agree.
So far I've liked Gender-swap, Golden Age, futuristic, (last round I misunderstood and did and "Ultimate" read), Post-apocalyptic, and I'll add Anime.
I think certain themes don't really fit certain characters though. So I would be unwilling to apply a single theme across all of the various characters you could possibly encounter.
From a purely bias standpoint, themes sound like they could be fun but the reality would be that it's impossible to expect it to go smoothly with everyone.

The Guide to BURN
Two parts to solve it...one being that you submit a character that may be conducive to the theme and two, suspending disbelief.

So do I.
Also, for theme suggestions: Manga, Anime, Video Game, Super Sentai
I didn't see it but can someone post a link to the first round please.
I'd be down with this.
As you kids say.
I wouldn't mind a theme as long as it was pretty generic. For instance, "Opposites" - this could be opposite gender, origin, sex, race etc. It's very open to the new designer to choose but is still a theme per se.
I think limiting it to something like Manga or something that specific, may lead many of us to the same costume pieces. I mean we do only have a limited number even though the combinations of those seem pretty limitless.
But, I'm down either way, just means I may have to think outside of MY box a little more.
Can you tell I'm a Libra and try to walk that line of being on everyone's side?
I would like to do this. Sign me up

I just don't want to make something off a theme i never have and never can do something like this that's why. I try and make a ninja and soon he becomes a pirate kinda of thing so it would be hard and if we do golden age i need to ask. What the hell is golden age?
[edit] i think its roman and things like that after looking it up a bit but not to sure
[edit][edit] hmm might not be to bad i guess ill still join in i guess.
Golden Age means the Golden Age of Comics, basically the bright spot when comics got their start and when superheroes as we generally know them were born. Golden Age is about 30s to the 40s or so, time when Supes, Bats, and Capt. were created. Silver Age follows that roughly and is around the 50s-70s, time when Marvel really hit and the big Marvels came into play, Spidey, the Fantastic 4, etc. Next are the Bronze and Modern Ages, Bronze is 70s-80s, and Modern is 80s on forward. Though I've heard of people lumping bronze in with the modern age. So when someone says Golden or Silver Age they generally mean to create a costume for the char as if they were created then.

As for themes, how about a villain version of a hero or a hero version of a villain?
