Psi Assault: Awesome or Notsome?
[ QUOTE ]
You're right, the only thing that was changed is that flares used to be removed from my tray and now it is my most used attack. As a result I'm late to the party. It's like the old NBC commercials during rerun season: "if you haven't seen it, it's new to you"
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, that actually I can dig. I checked out the attack just to see what it looked like when they changed it, but I didn't like it enough to use it.

I've now contributed more to the thread's topic than you or Testrat.

Did you not notice that my post was the SECOND in this thread? I believe I have made enough of a contribution, thank you.
Dear Frosticus:
Like it matters.
Let me put cool on cruise control for you:
IT'S GREAT THAT YOU CONTRIBUTED, BUT YOUR DISCUSSION WAS STILL OFF TOPIC.
When something good happens to me, I can never enjoy it....
I am always too busy looking for the inevitable punchline...

Thank you for policing the thread. You have not posted on topic yet. Just fyi.
Feel free to reprimand the 10 or so other people posting off topic too.
Keep up the good work.
Just for giggles I finally took my Fire/Psi on a ITF run. The team was mostly 50's fighting 52's. All I can say is Psi dom being buffed by two kins, a sonic, and an emp is crazy powerful. I just let the tanks herd em up, than I jumped in with Flashfire, Drain Psyche and PSW. A follow up with Psychic Scream and bam.
Also seeing the insane buffs I was getting off drain psyche and soul drain..wow. Solo Psi isn't as powerful as it was (post PSW). But teamed...teamed psi feels like it's doing quite a bit more damage. Also we had an issue where we accidentally killed Romulus too far from his fuzzy kheldian buddies. So he didn't rez and the fuzzballs were proving too hard to kill. My psi distance attacks, especially the snipe, proved extremely useful. Taking out the fuzballs at range was a lot easier than before. I think teamed is where you'll see Psi start to shine now.
My level 50 Dominators:
Madame Mindbender 50 Mind/Energy
Fly Agaric 50 Plant/Thorn
Nate Nitro 50 Fire/Psi
For sure, teaming is where it is at for /psi, more targets for the aoes, better chance of 16 targets for psw and more targets to feed DP.
I'm curious though, your extra aoe output must have been coming from adding Psyscream hey?
I'm just looking at the ingame numbers and PSW does the exact same base damage as it used to (70.8 old vs 70.65 new) and now Psyscream does 75.91 base damage.
With a couple kins and decent slotting you would have had old PSW up before Psyscream could even finish animating. We know the damage cap didn't increase so was the increase in the target cap for PSW that noticeable?
Don't forget +damage buffs do more for you now than they did before.
I subdued something for over 300 damage today with no debuffs.
Downside is I forget to control sometimes and then die horribly.
Active (Freedom): Setna (Ice/Psi Dom), Arram (WP/KM Tank), Tesmiel (Elec/SS Tank), Astredax (Robot/Dark Mastermind), Operative Vidali (melee fortunata)
Retired (Virtue): Gaav (Inv/EM Tank), Baqra (Fire/SS Tank)

True enough, but for clarity, they don't do anything more to PSW that before, it has the same base damage it always had.
Psyscream is a LOT better now though.

I only responded because you adressed me directly.
Nothing you have posted since invalidates my note that your flares whining was off topic in this thread.

Like I said, feel free to chastise everyone else being off topic too. Otherwise you are just singling me out and further steering the thread off course through these subsequent postings... hmm

Isn't this off topic?
This thread is about psi assault.

Funny how we rewrite the history of events in our own minds. I addressed you because you addressed me first and called out my contribution to the thread.
Of which you still haven't addressed the OP or the thread topic in general. I was certainly off topic, but actually got around to doing both. At this point you have thread jacked nearly as much as I did AND you haven't contributed anything.
But that's what happens when you try to be a forum moderator when it isn't your job.
Hopefully, TTYN

I was certainly off topic,

Yes, you were.
I will just have to accept that I got you back on topic, at least temporarily!
I won't help you derail this thread more though.

And you continue with your derailment. It's ironic because you were actually effective with your original reprimand, but you couldn't let it be and you've now contributed to a continued off topic series of postings.
See I have NO problem being off topic. I've demonstrated that. However YOU came in and decided to be a wannabe forum moderator. You took the position of superiority and a holier than thou attitude. But have instead just been a hypocrite at every stage.
It's hilarious watching you continue to do it too. You are a classic example of "do what I say, not what I do"
aka hypocrite. You haven't been on topic YET wannabe forum moderator.
You phail. Post off topic again and be a hypocrite again.
Lord guys give a break....
And yes it was the added damage from Psychic Scream was VERY noticeable. PSW was about the same even with insane buffs, but PsyScream was helping a lot. I've always used PsyScream btw, even before the dom changes. I just found it a very efficient filler cone-attack, its a bit more than that now.
My level 50 Dominators:
Madame Mindbender 50 Mind/Energy
Fly Agaric 50 Plant/Thorn
Nate Nitro 50 Fire/Psi
My problem is I never used Psi Scream before nor Mental Blast either and feel like now I have to have both in order to stay anywhere near the damage PSW used to do so I've had to give up Total Domination and Mass Hypnosis to fit them in my build. The result has been less than desirable though cause now it's like I've given up too much control. The right balance is still elusive.
Would love to see some more people post their new builds or suggestions for Psi Assault post I15.
I don't use Mids, for some reason my PC hates it. And I'm too lazy to find out why.
I will say that I'm a fire/psi and not a mind/psi so fitting in PsyScream is a bit easier. Also, I think you get more aoe control mileage out of mass confusion and the AoE fear than TD. Especially the fear since it recharges very quickly.
My level 50 Dominators:
Madame Mindbender 50 Mind/Energy
Fly Agaric 50 Plant/Thorn
Nate Nitro 50 Fire/Psi
I didn't change my Fire/Psi build much. Originally I had the Leadership pool with Maneuvers, Tactics and Vengeance. Now, I took Stealth and Grant Invis (for LotG mules) and Psy Scream.
It actually upped my global recharge from 125% to 126.5%
running on Invincible here solo, I don't think it's mediocre o.O though it is weird that MB and Subdue have the same numbers >.>
/psi is a bit more leaning in the high damage area.
moderate: psi dart, psychic scream and psychic shockwave
high: mind probe, tk thrust, mental blast, subdue
