[/ QUOTE ]Which is why the I14 update was delayed, while Steiner learned it

[/ QUOTE ]

So the I14 update actually was put out for everyone with mids? do I need to change the path to updating server now to be able to get the updates? Or has it indeed not been released?

[/ QUOTE ]

It has not been released yet. We're expecting to see all the changes (up to and including I15 changes) soon.

I hate to say this, but please read the thread or post fully before responding. This had already been answered in the thread.

This doesn't mean THE MAN THAT MADE IT SHOULD NOT GET CREDIT. NCsoft made a profit off of his work and he should be rewarded. simple as that.

[/ QUOTE ]

Trust me, he has gotten credit for it. That doesn't mean he should be offered a job. You can thank him any time, as many of us have.

Mids Steps Down

That is the link to his announcement on Titan Netork. He wasn't too clear why he stepped down but from this and a few other posts, such as this one.

I have read somewhere (linky?) that he does not play CoH anymore, but kept supporting his program. He just doesn't have the time.

edit: please keep the topic Ode to Mids, not Owed to Mids. I thought the topic was going to be about suggesting a thank-you donation for his efforts.

[/ QUOTE ]

OP repsonce: I thought that what I conveyed and more. BTW Thank You Mids for all your hard work.

Could you also port Mid's planner to lolcatOS?

I came in here expecting the usual complaints to why a free, player created tool wasn't up to date with all of I14/15 content. Whining about how "unprofessional" the Mid team was for letting it get out of date.

Glad to see I was wrong. But I'm still waiting for the inevitable thread(s) to appear.

Steiner is working on Mids' Hero Designer now. The development hasn't stopped.

Additionally, I've just gotten on board with the Titan Network team, and will be working on cross-os compatibility. (translation: making Mids' work for Mac/Linux)

[/ QUOTE ] Why Linux? Can we run CoH on Linux? If so, what version? This game is the only reason I haven't given Linux a real chance.

You can run it via Wine or Cedega (the OS X version of CoX is actually running on top of basically the OS X + bundle version of Cedega).

Plus, if he gets it working on OS X, it should basically 'Just Work' on Linux as he's actually making it work on Mono (the cross platform implementation of .Net... Microsoft's version is 'cross platform' as long as the platform is Windows ).

And 9? Why not upgrade to 11 for Cimerora-style goodness?

[/ QUOTE ]Ah, Knoppix CDs. How great they are for salvaging data when an OS gets corrupted.

[/ QUOTE ]pffft! Back in my day, I'd apt-get dist-upgrade from one version of Fedora to another while everyone on IRC told me it couldn't be done!

Also, back in my day Yum was total trash! ... so I used apt instead

Did Mid's ever calculate scrapper critical hits into average DPS?

Just a curious question.

Anyone know?

If Stiener wants it were good to but doesnt know the complexity of the program so I'd rater have Mids on it. heck if we all chipped in a dollar maybe he'd come back but I'd rather see him in a real posistion in NCsoft he earned it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Mids bowed out due to RL, which no one can escape from. Steiner kindly stepped up. I don't think that lack of appreciation prompted Mids stepping down. Real life can really grab you by the throat sometime.

Incorrect. NCSoft made not one single cent off mids work. NCSoft ran for a couple of years before there ever was a Mids Hero Planner. NCSoft's profits existed before Mids Hero Planner.

However, Mid surely did make a very useful tool for us to plan our characters with. I personally am very challenged to build a toon without the planner. Mid certainly does deserve credit for his work. No one is disputing that.

In all seriousness... I really think mid's is an important enough part of this game that CoH should basically take his idea and build an Official offline charictor builder.

They could do things that Mid cannot.. for example, they can use real the real data instead of datamined data. They could allow you to import the build during a respec.... or export a build.

Lots of good stuff.

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

Looks like a new update for Mids will be coming Friday or sometime this weekend!

And I agree with most of you who said that CoH should have a program of their own.
