Why multiple duplicate farm arcs?

Here's what happened.
I was in the mood to fight the Warriors, one of my favorite L20-29 foes. So I entered the AE and hit search: keyword: "Warriors".
It's a fairly common word, so I expected several pages of results
Wow. Battle Maiden's Warriors are fairly popular for a faction that only shows up in one arc in the main game.
And they're in a whole bunch of one-mission arcs using the same map, mission descriptions like "lvl u xp fast". I start a few of them and see that they are all pretty much the same. Same map, 1 glowie.
Why the redundancy?

Supposedly some farms get banned.

If there are farms already available, why would a person want to make an identical one, using up one of thier slots?
Is it because they want to have easy access to a specific farm without having to search? If so, why would they leave it published when they are done, unless they are trying to get "X number of users have rated your mission" badges?
I don't get it.

I'm not trying to complain about farming itself (that's already been done).

But why risk one of your own slots to the ban-hammer if exactly what you want is already available? If optimum farming is about getting maximum XP in minimum time, why waste time throwing together a farm at all? Granted, dialog like "go kill" and "nub go" don't take a lot of thought, but still...*shrug*

My guess? The creators think they have suddenly found the ultimate in farming setups and nobody else knows about it, so they post it. That way everyone else can see their UBAR L33tne55.

Either that or they are too stupid to figure out the search function.

Heh. Nobody else knows about thier uber setup, yet they all look alike?

Well, your guess is certainly as good as mine.
I just find it redundant.

Well, it's my understanding that it's not farms that were the issue, but farms that were using a specific set of exploits MA had when it was first released... use of which- at one point - caused Posi's head to explode.

Supposedly, those exploits have been plugged and the ban-hammer is back to being properly reserved for inappropriate and offensive content and for the handful of rogue Architects who constantly create new farms based on yet undiscovered (by the devs) exploits.

With that said, there seem to be a few players that feel that the issue is *any* farm and not just the game-breaking "exploit farms", and constantly create and delete farms in an attempt to be able to farm and avoid scrutiny. Combine those with the other Architects that simply think they're building the better mousetrap and you end up with a sea of clone farms rivaling those in the stormy seas of Kamino. 8D

There are a few things that I wonder whether are 'sploits. Take the popular Lord Recluse AV farms. Is it exploitive because his powersets seem so limited - no doubt designed with his towers in mind? Or do we just not see other AV farms because... ?

I thought it was a little premature to let him take off the helmet of his containment suit. Luckily there wasn't much damage when he lost control this time (just the AE building in Croatoa? ).

I laughed.

It's because Recluse gives bonus XP. Most AVs aren't worth the time to fight compared to boss farms, but Recluse seems to be competitive.

I believe these versions of Recluse are from the Villainside patron arc finales - though if someone really is farming level 54 Reclues from the STF, I'd like to know about it...

And for a while things were cold,
They were scared down in their holes
The forest that once was green
Was colored black by those killing machines

I'll see if I can convince the Frads to do it.

Tickets from ratings, probably.

Bingo!

What's better than building a farming mission so you can farm it yourself? Build a farming mission that enables others to farm tickets using your very own mission and reward you with free tickets for which you didn't even have to be logged-in! It's an efficiency-experts' wet-dream... tickets for nothing and purples for free...

I believe that a Kheldian Gold Standard should be based on SO's, and for anything above that... there's Platinum!
