To the original poster. Sorry your thread got derailed a little. On a more related note, this sort of thing is one of the reasons I avoid Pocket D. This sort of OOC interaction between people who believe they have come down to us from the heavens and are blessing us with their perfectly moral, perfectly unadulterated, infinitely awesome Roleplaying skills. People who judge others out-of-character for what they do in-character and have a hard time realizing not only is everyone not perfect, but they are probably far from perfect in the eyes of others. Sadly, some tolerate this, and some don't; and this is the nature of humans...especially in the internet. So I'm not complaining. I also really couldn't care less about anyone's opinion on myself unless they're giving their opinion out of care.

I'll happily hold my hands up to the misspelling of "pederasty." It ws about 3am when I posted, so outside effects contributed to my general idiocy. Such as getting involved in this discussion. It seemed like such a good idea at the time.
Still, I'll carry on because I'm a very particular kind of stubborn.
What annoyed me most about the entire thing was that Smurch was clearly making a straw man out of Fernandes, saying something like "I'm against sexually violating young children over the internet. Aren't YOU?" Which is, of course, a hugely emotive statement, and one that carries a lot of weight.
But why don't we turn that around?
Personally, I'd rather have all the people into pederasty, rnon-consentual fantasy and so forth acting out their sexual desires in a controlled, safe environment rather than going out onto the street and doing it for real.

Wont happen. Servers are at low as it is so adding a new server would be currently counter productive. The best that could happen is Posi holds an event to vote for servers and basically rename the chosen server as a dedicated RP server.

I don't really do much RP.
However I do create concepts for my characters and choose powers that fit the concept. Avoiding powers that don't fit the concept, even if they would be better for my character.
I also write small backstories or bio's. However I've never really been able to get into hero RP.

It's more the fact that you're kind of completely rude and aggressive to anyone that isn't your immediate friend. Lay off Bright and RE a bit. I don't approve of the majority of RE's standards or how the VG works, I'm not afraid to admit that; but, I'm also not afraid to step back when it doesn't directly affect me or anyone else. Do I occasionally get aggrivated at certain things on this server, especially certain tangents in the roleplay community? Yes. But it doesn't hurt me in any way, nor does it hurt you, your friends or anyone you know - or don't know. We need to be gutsy enough to have enough self-respect to show respect to others. It's not an eye for an eye, here. Vengeance and vendettas are self-serving means to a futile end.
Being mean to others gets you, them, and absoltuely everyone involved, absolutely nowhere. I'm not saying this as an attack or insult, it's just stating the fact that you need to not be so overtly disrespectful. Yes, it's better than being subtly disrespectful, but to be honest the best option is to just be good to everyone.
Moral lessons aside, seriously, it's not doing anyone any good to attack others for their life choices... let alone their ROLEPLAY choices in a video game. Why are we getting so up in arms over choices made in a game, furthermore, choices made for the sake of roleplay? I have to say that's more disappointing than any choices you can make on an MMORPG-- to mock, berate and defame others simply because one can't cope with and accept others' decisions.
In any case I'd like to politely request we hop back on-topic and stop with the flames and personal attacks. Agreeable?

Since I missed the post,
I seconded.
This thread went from interesting to disturbing in a handful of posts.
Personally, I role-play all of my characters when I get the chance. If I'm on a team of non-RPers, then I won't bother noting that I'm going OOC.
Story-RP hasn't really worked from me since Ultima Online. It seems that anytime you have an open storyline (meaning anyone is welcome to become a character) then someone comes into it and is (forgive me) a terrible roleplayer. Maybe they're an attention-hog, or someone with a poor imagination, or a very lonely person just looking for human contact of any type.
I role-play for me. I enjoy stories. I enjoy reading them, writing them, and participating in them.
