When forums migrate .... the seas boil and blisters everywhere will pop!
This sounds like a polite way of combining something that can no longer sustain itself economically.
The term is not "being fired" or "made redundant" .. the term is "releasing more potential into the work force" ....

Yes, it will be vbulletin. It's what the other NCSoft forums migrated to and what was tested in closed I13 Beta.

No, I think we heard it first back in issue 2 or so. At the latest when Arenas were introduced.

Actually, based on the newsletters I get semi-randomly, I think the final 3 Star Wars movies got turned into books. Lucas said something about leaving it for his son to do, and his son said something about "when hell freezes over."

Since we have some European players watching this thread, please allow me to dispel the notion I've seen stated on your board that "only high post counts matter" here. That's a load of bull. As always, it's what you post, not how much you post, that matters. And while it's true that many of the people around here with incredibly high post counts are often held in high regard by the community, it's because these individuals have usually earned such high post counts by posting helpful, insightful things.
There are exceptions, of course. Some people just like to talk a lot without actually saying that much. I won't name names, but once y'all are over here with us and have had a little time to get acclimated to our tribe of yahoos, it shouldn't be that hard to tell. Likewise, I'm sure you folks have some people who'll also make a post just to say that they had a thought about posting something, but then forgot what it was they were gonna post.
But please, don't come into this thinking that we're some stuck-up elitists who spend our days looking down our noses at those who don't have X number of posts and insult everyone. That would make you seem like stuck-up elitists who spend their days looking down their noses at those who don't post on their boards, or because they are American or Canadian. Which I know none of you do. The only people who make those sort of claims about post count around here are stupid n00bs who think that any game that isn't exactly like WoW sucks, and trolls who rant and rabble over the most idiotic things and are thus rightly mocked for their inability to come off as anything other than children throwing tantrums.

I just hope the 'new' boards are NOT phpBB3 and that hopefully its vBulletin. They have a new version, 4, coming out in a few weeks (months). Not that it matters, as the current version of VB is great as it is.
There's nothing wrong with phpBB, I am an avid supporter of it for 6 years. It's just not the BEST solution for extremely active boards.
I still can't believe that PlayNC/Cryptic paid any money for these boards.

It's vbulletin. NCSoft already purchased vbulletin for its various games.

The same thing that happens when you copy the same character over to the Test Server multiple times, you get a number added to your name. The one with the newest reg date will get a number and a one time only name change granted by our benevolent forum monitors.

Yeah, except it's not my character that's retired, it's me. How many times do the artists come back out of retirement?

It had a purpose: To lobby for animated hair. In every forum. In every thread. In every post.
That was put an end to even on the EU forums. (Remember, there's now a 'no lobbying' clause in the forum policy manifesto.)
It's not like we don't have worse here. From what I've seen, they're getting the short end of this deal. And that's coming from me, a 'Mer'kan.
Meanwhile, there are several posters over there I'm looking forward to regularly interacting with. They're extremely knowledgeable of the game, wryly witty, and quite erudite. It's like getting several more mes.

I read those boards for a long time, when my work once blocked the main COH Forums. I agree, there are a lot of interesting characters and knowledgable players there, and it will be fun getting to know them.
I think I may change back to my 'original' CoH forum name, since I just changed to HeyTiny to have it as a Global name.
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

So is the migration still going to be to vbulletin and if so will the ability to directly reply to a poster be there?Cause I've been to another forum and couldn't directly reply to a poster without quoting, and honestly the way this community is that's not something I'm looking forward to.
