ill bet a good percentage of the people with long term vet rewards are not even the original account owners... how does that make you feel now :0

As do I. I picked up this game in October '04 and I have not unsubbed from it since.

That's a bet you'd lose.
How does THAT feel?

I do. Teleport is the best travel power in the game if you can master it, which I have.

I doubt it. Link me to a page on ebay selling CoH accounts and I might consider this to be a possibility. And if there are such accounts, that is against the EULA. They should and probably will get banned as soon as they're found out.
Even so, Vet Rewards should never be sold. I don't care what argument you use next. You're never going to convince me.
[ QUOTE ]
however, what you missed in my original post is the internet... check your ingame email... everyday you get an email from someone that will sell you ANYTHING in coh... all I am saying is if someone is going to make money off the game... I would prefer to see nc make it
[/ QUOTE ]
Right now the impact on the game world is some spam emails in your inbox, and tiny amount of people with more money than sense (and slightly less money, yet no more sense).
If NC got invovled, you'd now have the generation of these things out of thin air, instead of some one having to spend the time to actually make it to sell. That'll DESTROY the in-game economy, meaning if you actually wanted to be able to buy anything, you'd likely need to use real money.

[/ QUOTE ]I'll take that bet, I could use some extra money. I'll put it towards buying Going Rogue and the Magic booster pack (Science seems a bit 'eh' to me). Also, I could use a new shuriken or two (DAMN TSA STOLE THE ONE I BOUGHT LAST WEEK! )

ClawsandEffect gave a good military analogy earlier in the thread, but I really don't think of veteran rewards as extreme as ranking. I honestly don't care about the badge title, I'm just slightly excited about the reward the comes with the milestone.
So, to modify the analogy...
It's like two 1st Sgts. walking together engaged in joke-like banter about the privates they humiliated that day. Bob has been in the service for 2 years now, while Jim has been serving for only 9 months. They both get into their 2009 chevy camaros and drive home. Bob was given his by the army as a promotion gift, while Jim couldn't wait and flat out bought his new. Bob is living, financially stable, with his wife and 3 kids, while Jim is scraping together whatever he can just to manage his own personal expenses. Bob has all the means and patience to get ahead in life, while Jim is always "a day late and a dollar short."
Of course, there's always the argument that Jim could be some rich guy. Well... with that kind of money he should be in officer school, not an enlisted man. Analogy still holds.

I think that if there was a way to find out, we'd be surprised by the high number of accounts that have been sold.. but percentage-wise.. I doubt that number would be very high at all.
I would actually put more money on accounts which have been purchaced, *not being played* any more. The kind of love-em and leave-em attitude which would spur anyone to buy an already-existing account would also lend itself to abandoning it once it's boring.

Come August I'll have kept my account active for 60 months.

Same but already have. And I have no plans what so ever to leave. This game will fade before I unsub.

Fork over the cash.
I've been in here solidly since ... well, look at the reg date, add a week. The people I've seen in the forums have been the same people, generally. In game? Same thing - old names I'm well aware of on all the servers (and usually on mulitple servers.) The "old hands" in the game, honestly, are usually a step or two away from each other as far as who knows who, not to mention tend to keep an ear on global and SG channels... and I, for one, have yet to hear of a "You know @oldtimeplayer? Their account was on ebay/sold to someone/etc, so don't get confused if they act weird. It's not really them any more."

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah.. I can agree with that too.
I feel the need to point out something else too.. besides the fact that selling an account is against the rules.
A friend of mine (definitely not me if that's what you are thinking) bought 2 accounts a while back. Probably about a year later, the original owner decided she wanted to play again. My friend got the e-mails alerting her to the fact that she was trying to log in or change the password by attempting to answer the security questions. My friend obviously changed all the info after the bought the account, so she couldn't get in... so the original owner actually called support and proved she was the original owner and claimed her account was hacked or stolen, or whatever.. and got her password reset.. basically stealing the account back.
Since I had the account on global, I briefly called her out on stealing the account back when I saw her come on. She said it was her account and she didn't have the right to sell it anyway, so she had every right to take it back. So i called her out on ebay fraud and said he should at least give the money back to my friend... but since the transaction was over a year old, and there was no "tangible property" exchanged.. ebay doesn't guarantee it anyway.. so my friend was still screwed no matter which way you looked at it.
I told my friend... "That's what you get for trying to cheat the system".. but it sucks she was out like $200 or whatever she originally paid for it. lol
As payback.. she logged onto the second account and did a respec to sell all the enhancements, did "random" costume changes, then took the money off all the characters.. then deleted them all before that account was stolen back too.
Even if the original owner petitioned to get the characters restored, they will probably have stupid costumes, a horrible build, and no enhancements. lol
The point to my story... my friend wasn't even really using those accounts at the time anymore anyway, proving Zekiran_Immortal's point.. and actually.. my friend stopped playing a long time ago as well... proving the point even further. lol

teleport team its a once an hour vet reward... I think most of the big online auctions cut deals not to sell account... but obviously accounts are bought and sold... yes against the eula and yes the original purchase can steal it back at anytime, but it happens...
and no next argument... just my opinion here... been playing on and off since beta and vet rewards just dont impress me enough... but someone started a post...
oh and ps... only 1 person in this thread has an earlier reg date than I do... and only by days for the person that brought that up...
One of the biggest reasons I feel that the VET Rewards should NEVER be sold is just that, they are VET REWARDS . Their purpose is to reward people who have continued to play the game over time, not & or if you have extra money to spend. Kinda sounds odd anyway to "BUY" rewards, you are supposed to earn them. And as far as account selling.... I will NEVER do that. I do enjoy this game. This is my second account, my wife took over my original after I got her into the game..... , so i am having to work on re-earning some of the Vet rewards. That account was about a year older.....LOL
Deeds not Words....
Right, but "on and off" is not "vetran" the same way as the rest who've been playing the whole time, right? Just saying.
Buying into something to cheat your way past any requirement is not just lame, but stupid in the long run.

Consider this Avani. While we all know that there are a few people that sell their accounts when they leave a game, it's more likely that the majority of accounts the RMT sites are selling are their own accounts that they PL'd toons on.
I just did a google search and checked a site that claims they sell accounts. Of the 35 they listed only two had earned vet rewards.

Dude. You are MARRIED! You should know how things work in a marriage.
What's her's is her's, and what's your's is her's.
[/ QUOTE ] Technically, according to the rules, accounts can not be shared or transferred, which means you should be able to take the account back from your wife at any time. haha

I can tell by your "haha", you know the death sentence I would face for such an act.
Deeds not Words....
Unfortunately, there is no Vet Reward that points our misspellings or lack of capitalization...
I don't have that much time in the game, coming up on 21 months and I earned every one of the Vet Rewards I have acquired so far. I've already subscribed into next year. Should I get the next years worth of Vet Rewards? No. Why? Because next year hasn't arrived yet.

Actually that isn't correct. The Eula says this.
4. Account
By accepting the terms of use in the Agreement, Members represent that you are an adult 18 years of age or older. Only one person may use an Account. The registered user of an Account may use the Account or may choose instead to permit a minor child of the registered user to use the Account. You are liable for all activities conducted through your Account, and parents or guardians are liable for all activities of their minor child conducted through the Account.
But wives don't fall under that rule. The company chooses to ignore the spouse situation.
