If 16 is only about more customization, I'll be pretty darn sad. Between the lameness that is 15 and then nothing for 16 either? bleh

I love how everyone on that post is "OMG"ing. Yay! No mention of content, but I can change my fireball colourz, yayz. Glad to see the devs are hard at work. Power customizationz is srsbsnz.

I'm all for Power Customization. There's 2 things that I'm hoping against, though:
1) Issue 16 is ONLY Power Customization. - We really do need more content (Villains, holla!). More systems are cool, too...as long as those systems are part of the content, not a mini-game.
2) Broad customization. - If it's just a goofy hue slider that encompasses the entire powerset, I will be okay with it. A lot of people will gripe, though. If they are really improving character customization, then they need to take it all the way. We'll see.
I'm not normally one to be negative toward new things, but the announcements lately have had a tone of "Please don't leave us for those new games with fresh content. Pretty please."
I'm ready for an announcement that makes me say, "Whoa! Now THAT'S something new and exciting that will take me months to play!"
(Edit: Clarity)
I want to be able to have my pet Monkey do Cobra Strike.

Yes, I'm a bit concerned that they thought the architect would fulfill our content needs while they could piddle around with colors. Granted things like power customization, walking, and the big red ball are things I think are a waste of time, so I'm sure someone is excited. But it's not me, that's for sure.

Until I actually hear a statement from the devs that this is the only thing we'll be getting in I16, I'm not too worried about it. Even without that statement, I wouldn't worry about it until it got to open beta without any other additions.

If the devs were really on top of their game on this one, they might have anticipated the griping that would come with just a simple change of hue for an entire powerset. If they weren't (and let's be honest, we've caught them by surprise with things like "Why can't I create custom AVs?" and "If I write this mission so that it only involves clicking on objectives, I can farm that set of AE badges in no time!"), then I would not even be remotely surprised to see a schedule slip similar to the one we saw with AE so that they can implement it "right" instead of "quickly".
Still, regardless of how much interest any one individual may or may not have in this particular feature, it's something the community as a whole has been begging for at least as long as I can remember. Given the amount of work that probably had to be done just to get us a "simple" change of hue for the entire powerset, it makes me happy to see they were working on this.

I agree with this sentiment. I just really want to see more content. TFs, raids, GMs, Events.
Whatever. Just more content. Scratch that. More content that is engaging and new. Again, especially for villains.
I wouldn't be too suprised if they included the new powersets in i16. Or at least some proliferation.

I would not be surprised either for this. Although I am not like everyone in that thread that is extreme happy and extreme pessimistic pessimistic.
I think this was done as usual a simple teaser for the gamers to keep subscribed till we find out more instead of letting our subscriptions run out. until July I am openly cautious about what is gonna happen.

I could not agree more, especially when it comes to villain content. Lack of content is the main thing that has kept me from really playing redside.
I'd love to see some Galactus type GMs! Would be fun to have hundreds of people fighting a REAL GM!
The game needs some serious "epic" content too... stuff with huge battles, massive invasions, killer robots and other spiffy stuff. Kind of like this but in a superhero format.
P.S. We need pet Monkeys that do Cobra Strike too.

I'm sure "more content" and "more villain content" are also somewhere on the Things the Community Has Been Begging For list. I'm encouraged by the fact that they're starting to finally pay attention to that list. This gives me hope that we might see some new villain content in the (relatively) near future. And I'm not generally a very optimistic creature by nature.
Gotta start new programmers somewhere to bring them up to speed. Getting them familiar with the existing systems and underlying code (which they would need to do for any flavor of effects customization) before the really big stuff (i.e. Going Rogue) comes along isn't a bad idea.
Creative content always seems more difficult to me. It's not so bad if you can just make everything up as you go, but with an extensive existing story line, you have to take your time and be more careful.
I strongly suspect that they gave some new hires an assignment to go write some short arcs for new content. Part of the outcome of that effort was probably the AE system. (We already know it started as an effort to make the in-house development tools easier for everyone to work with.) Another big part of that effort was probably the two new I15 TFs. They don't seem like the normal, well-polished content we're used to seeing added to the game. They do strike me as something you might get if you asked someone new to the team and maybe not already intimately familiar with every nook and cranny of the story bible to go write new content. (It may be pure coincidence that they're each about the same length as an AE arc, but I suspect there's more at play there.)
There were a lot of valuable lessons to be taken away from player reactions to those new TFs. If all of them are absorbed and successfully incorporated the next time we see new content come down the pipes, we might start seeing some rather decent material. We'll just have to cross our fingers and hope that's what happens.

They have been since I've been here (60 months in July).
The game has not had any new zones or zone revamps in a while. They have to start adding something in to pull people out of the AE.

Unless, of course, that is "not using power customization as intended"
