I don't get how "OMG they killed my minion" even registers for you.
If you're going to do something stupid like use a power that can cleave a boss or lieutenant in two, you should lose your kill to someone actually playing intelligently.
That said, your comment on Fault already reveals your response to this.

It wasn't quite a nerf. It was part of tweaking it, and happened the same time that they took the affect self part a way. Castle had tried exchanging the -def for -recovery, which I agree was too much with the -end. I am also sure rage will be looked at again. Especially since Castle doesn't like the -def portion of it, and double stacked rage is a bit too strong. I could also see some changes to footstomp, more likely in the radius.

It would be better if they just fixed Rage to be unstackable. Footstomp is the only AoE damage that the set gets. It is not unreasonable for it to be better than AoEs in other sets which contain multiple AoE powers.
And really - there was very little complaining about SS being uber till massive IO +rech builds started coming out... which suggests that the problem isn't SS.

The game is not played on paper.
When you jump in the air to 1 shot a minion and in the 3.3 seconds it takes to animate your attack somoene esle kills said minion, you do 0 points of damage. That is not figured on paper. Also those numbers are based off of some pretty insane recharge times. Not everyone will be able to attain those kind of damage numbers. On an average recharge, EM is sitting in the middle, even on paper.

Those numbers come from the "Common IOs" post that I link to in my sig, they're readily available for anyone with 42% recharge in all attacks.
Of course, those sets get rearranged quite a bit once you look at something with more recharge to it, which is why EM is "meh" for single-target - above average but not by much - and horrible for AoE.
