Gravity: Far enough?
Changes? As in plural?
Um... the only thing changed in Grav is that Lift got normalized. It's now on par with Levitate.
Basically, if you didn't like Grav before, this patch won't suddenly make you love it.

This is what I was thinking. Nobody like grav now. (k, maybe Dark_Current and some others) and no one but them will like it afterwards. It's still broken from what I can see (10 min left for test download...).
hopefully this change will translate over into controllers.
as a change to gravity by itself, no definitely not. But the way doms changed for the most part may make more of the set worthwhile. We still have basically no AOE contorl till 26, but with a buffed lift and the new longer recharge times(with of course more damage) there might be enough space in attack chains that you can use lift AND crush instead of just picking one. Which fixes my complaint of 'i'm level 24 and I only took 3 powers from my primary'.

So you don't think the damage buff will crossover to controllers?
oh i have no idea about that. I meant if levitate was the only change effecting gravity doms it definitely would not b enough to fix the problems with grav(at least my problems with grav). but because of how the global dominator changes and the way many of the secondaries were changed i tmay end up doing more for us than it looks like it will.
i have a lvl 50 grav/psi dom and grav/ff troller. This change currently for grav dom's Lift is very good IMO. It sets grav apart from the rest. Where we lack in AoE controll and damage we excell in Single Target Damage and DPS (great for soloing). But if this buff does not get translated over to the controller side of Grav, than it would not be fair to them, and troller Grav will remain a mediocre AoE controll set with second to many in the single target damage department.
except that excelling in any sort of damage when our entire secondary excells at damage even more is pointless. I should say WAS pointless because it might actually matter now.
But as we stand before this wide dominator change very little would change. There's almost no reason to take crush AND levitate, as they are both quick recharge quick animating low damage powers with light contorl elements(both good powers that i like a lot i jus tsee no reason to take both with an assault secondary). AOE immobilize is marginally useful at best, basically worthless most of the time, and sometimes detrimental. AOE intangible has 2 very bad uses that exclude eachother, and is sometimes harmful to the team. Wormhole requires a bit of extra set up and(i believe) has smaller range than all the other dom sets AOE controls. Heck for every other dom class the AOE hold is often one of the worst powers in the set, ours is not better than theirs and it's one of our BEST powers.
Also the lift thing doesn't really set us apart because mind has had the higher damaging levitate forever AND they have VERY good single target and AOE control. The only thing damage wise we have over them is propel(which is a TERRIBLE move).

I think only very minor changes would put grav in line now. They could, for example, get rid of the knockback in wormhole or change it to knockdown. This would give you a reliable AOE control that didn't piss teams off. I think that is all that would be necessary.
If the devs don't like the above fix, other fairly minor ones would work as well. I really don't think it needs anything major.
Yes, the change to lift should be ported to controllers as well (where it will help them more than it helps dominators, since dominators already have single target damage attacks.)
P.S.: As far as changes to the assault sets go, though, color me pleased beyond belief. Very nice...

i agree but lift is a critical part in our attack chain even for doms as it is one of the only powers that can flip flop a boss around non stop. This gives you a great defensive advantage and with this buff we could gain more offense in out attack chian with lift. On a team with you being the only dom lift can keep the boss busy while you work on holding and immobing the rest of the mob especially at lower levels.
Moreover, with the change to endurance and recharge for the assault sets, Lift can actually be put into the attack chain not only as a fast recharging filler, but can save the dom some endo. I'm trying to get more people on my side to agree that this particular dom Lift buff should go into the troller set as well and for good reason to.
That may be fine for a level 50, but i've recently gotten a grav dom from 1-25 and it's TERRIBLE, my friend was commenting my level 12 ice/ice dom was contributing more to teams then my level 25 grav dom. Grav has more terrible powers than any set I've ever played, and unlike stuff like old psy it doesn't have a massive pay off at the end. old psy was 37 levels of suck and then awesomeness to the end, grav is 25 levels of suck and then continues to be worse off than the other dom sets. although i will say that part is mostly hearsay as I have not played much on teams with fully slotted wormhole, but everyone i've talked to has said worhmole is still sub par compared to other dominators AOE controls. so we get 25 elvels of suck and then 25 levels of mediocrity?
It does have a big payoff in Singularity.

I wonder if the buff to lift extends into Singy's lift. That would be awsome. Can anyone test this?
That may be fair enough, I have no experience with singularity so I can't really comment on it. I do know the first 25 levels are pretty terrible. Is singularity really that much better than all the other dom's pets?

I absolutely agree with what you're saying... i think you have a deep understanding of the grav set from lvl 1 - 50 and beyond.
i just got on test and i'm loving the assault set changes, and I'm playing elec melee which i believe got the LEAST benefit from it! crush is doing stupidly high amounts of damage compared to what it did before, i can't wait to spec into lift!
you'll see the light and hopefully my troller will one day to.

It just allows you to spend more time attacking rather than controlling. It is a nice pet, no aggro problems, no attack cycle problems, no end problems, and no survivability problems, but it has no damage.
Speaking of gravity, it'd be cool if the boring old gravity distortion animation turned into say...the soul storm animation (with gravity rifts of course not the rainbow swirly souls) . That would definitely attract me to gravity for fun purposes. Haha. And it makes sense, they SHOULD be floating and spinning around if they're caught in a field of distorted gravity....then fall..
i would totally never copmlain again if this happened, their helpless flailing would soothe me for the first 25 levels!
About the only thing I'd like for gravity to change for dom and controllers is PROPEL: Change it to knock down, and try and smooth/speed up animation-cast time.
gravity is the worst set I have ever seen

really, no change to the arguably worse power of dimension shift?

You have it all wrong. Male characters get knocked"down" and female characters get 'knocked up". Get it?? ** snicker**
I'm just wondering if the change to gravity went far enough. Test is STILL downloading for me so I'll test it when it gets up, but in appearance it doesn't seem like it fixes it's issues (dimension shift and wormhole).
