as for your download time, if you have a friend with:

    A) a broadband connection (cable, dsl, or sat)
    B) a USB stick or a CD/DVD burner

Have them download what you need, and then copy it all to the USB stick or burn it to CD(s) or DVD, then send it to you or deliver it via sneakernet.

Or, if your laptop has WiFi built in, go visit a bookstore or coffeeshop that offers WiFi access, and DL it while there. Last resort? Download the file to a work computer over their network connection (assuming you have computer at work you can use in that fashion AND that they have Internet access that isn't restricted/closely watched). Then copy the file via one of the methods above.
Wait, you're saying I can't play COH using an Asus? not qutie familiar with the terminology...and I downloaded the Nvidia 200 laptop series but I got an error when trying to open the set up saying non-7 zip archive, whatever that means
Edit: So I downloaded the driver 7 times, 7th time it worked >.>....I think the game is finally working, , thanks everyone, sorry for my lack of gamer tech knowledge hehe.

Here's what you can do to help reduce stuff like that.

    Head into the CoH directory.

    Find CoHUpdater.exe and CityOfHeroes.exe

    1. Right-click on the executable
    2. Select Properties
    3. Go to the compatibiltiy tab.
    4. Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for"
    5. Make sure it says Windows XP SP3
    6. For good measure, check "Run this program as an administrator"
    7. Click OK.
If, after the driver update, and doing this you're still getting issues, try turning down User Account Control (UAC)

    1. Click on the start button
    2. Click on Help and Support
    3. In the window that comes up, type "Turn off UAC" in the search box.
    4. The first link that comes up will take you through how to get to the UAC screen.
    5. Slide the bar down another notch (and if that doesn't work, repeat these steps and slide it all the way down)
    6. Click OK.
    7. Reboot
Butt-Coverage Note: Reducing or disabling UAC can possibly compromise system security.
Thanks, I'll try this stuff after/if driver ends up downloading.

Game runs fine, except that despite being an Nvidia card with all the ageia physx stuff, the game still doesn't recognize it as such and leaves the option greyed out.
Oh my gosh...19 hours to download this driver -_-

Been trying to play cox on new computer since Monday...sigh...

Downloaded graphics drivers? Not quite sure what that means, do i have to purchase software FOR the graphics card, or can I just download that component somewhere online? haha...

    New laptop

Hi, I recently reinstalled COX on my new laptop which has windows 7 and a nvidia card. It took about 3 days , but it finally loaded the updater to where I can click "next" etc to get to the login screen. The screen loads and all, and i can hear the game music, but there is NO picture. Just a black screen on the CoX game window. anyone know why? maybe i didn't download something all the way or I have to activate my video card somehow?

  7. Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a new computer, however, it's been 2 days since I downloaded the client and the game STILL has a whole gig to go and it's going extremely slow. Is there a way I could just transport the game or download it faster somewhere? it's pretty insane...

Also I did use "share files" from the local network, and tranferred it from my old computer, BUT it still continued downloading at the spot it was at no matter what "Coh Updater" I click and it's ignoring the files that are DEFINITELY there and redownloading them like it originally was.

thanks for your help if anyone can!
  8. Speaking of gravity, it'd be cool if the boring old gravity distortion animation turned into say...the soul storm animation (with gravity rifts of course not the rainbow swirly souls) . That would definitely attract me to gravity for fun purposes. Haha. And it makes sense, they SHOULD be floating and spinning around if they're caught in a field of distorted gravity....then fall..
