anyone still making MA arcs?

I've been looking at doing a 3rd arc, though I'm waiting for more people to play the other 2 first =P

I took all my arcs down, and will likely never make another one ever again.
Since the Ratings system sucks so much, I honestly havent really logged into the game.

I'm not sure what the point is in putting in another couple of hours writing, testing, polishing and publishing a story that won't ever get played unless I coerce my friends into playing it, or [censor] it out all over the forums.

Let me ask you a question.

Why do you want players to run your arc?

If it's for feedback, the allow me to offer a suggestion: Form a team. Create team in AE (make sure everyone knows you are not running a farm :P) and run your mission arc. In the last mission announce to the team this was your arc and you would appreciate any feedback about the story, etc.

If you want people to run your arc so you can get more tickets...I haz no idear.

HI P_P.

I'm sure you know this but I wanted to let you know that this game is not dependent on the Rating System. You can still enjoy running missions in AE or anywhere without worrying about the rating system sabatoging your fun.

I've got three arcs up, and I've been working sporadically on a fourth (not much motivation since I can't put it up, and I like all three arcs that are up), and I've got an idea right now for at least a fifth (a sequel to one of the ones that's up right now).

I've been enjoying myself thoroughly, and promoting my arcs quite aggressively, so I've got a respectable number of playthroughs (about 150 between all three of them, I think). Of course, once i15 hits, I'll be tinkering around with them some more... friggin' confuse powers are going to be gone so fast they'll violate some causal laws -_-

I currently only have one arc up, but have plans already for at least seven more, with more ideas in the wings.

While I'd love unlimited arc slots (or at least more than we've gotten), there are no limits to the number stories one can write. My arcs will be rotated out as needed.

Mostly, I write stuff I would enjoy playing. As long as my family/friends enjoy them, that's all that really matters to me (it's nice to have a wife and daughter who like to game with me; they're my primary audience). Admittedly, it's been kind of cool to see others play my arc and enjoy it, but that's not going to be a criteria to keep an arc up if I need the space for something new.

None of my arcs will go away; if they are unpublished, they will most likely be republished again in the future. I don't care about retaining the ratings, just having fun.

That said, I have been waiting to see the final outcome of the changes in i15 before publishing anything new.

Exactly. Whether playing or writing, it can be done for fun, not just stars. Ratings are the fluff; fun content is where it's at (opinions, of course, may vary ).

I make them continously for my supergroups, but only have two up permanently.

#2409 - The Mystery of the MAGI vaults. Azuria has contacted you to help her stop the thefts from the MAGI vaults.
#68054 - Out of the gutters. Left for dead, you swore that you were through with being a victim (alt villain beginning story)

Mine are shelved for the moment.

I'm *really* struggling to find anything new and original in the MA arc catalog right now - its all "fan-spasm" content featuring the Council, the Carnies or what have you. I'd kill to see some innovative NPC concept arcs appear in the MA - something other than killer bunny rabbits or a campy fashion show face-off...

And in the face of demand for farmable "fan-spasm" content, I'm loathe to devote my time/energy to making something worthwhile (that said, I leave my Church of the Broken Dove arc alive and kicking in the MA index so folks can see what I mean about making innovative content....

If Hubby hadn't bought a 3-month subscription in advance, I probably woulda deactivated by now. Until GR hits the shelves (which I'm still very excited about), I think I've pretty much exhausted all my renewed interest in COH for awhile.

*sigh*

Still? Nope.

3 arcs published, none of which see a great deal of play, 1 of which is a "farm" that is apparently okay since I PM'd Positron about it already, another is the first one I wrote (but second one published) that's been up since day 2 with maybe 20 people having gone through it (including the two teams of 8 I was on dragging them through it), and the last - and first one I published - is a broken arc since the custom mobs were changed that I simply haven't gotten around to replacing.

MA doesn't appeal to me much; if I happen to run MA missions because I like teaming then so be it. Otherwise I only go into missions to farm tickets, either for recipe rolls or to sidestep price-gouging on uncommon and common salvage.

I'm not bothering with MA anymore. I have the one that I list in my sig and that's all I'm going to bother with if I even decide to leave that published. I learned the hard way that the forums are a bad place to have an opinion since my arc got 1 starred by a vindictive poster that didn't like what I had to say in one of their threads here. That combined with Posi's hamfisted approach to bannings for "exploits" means I'm done with MA for good.

Its not fun for me to log on and see people 0 starring my stuff that I worked hard on. It really ruins it.
The ratings system is crap. Call it fluff if you would like. But its crap to me.

I know this is what some people wanted, for me to quit or get my stuff off the MA. It is what they said in the nasty tells they sent. I turned off the feedback tells. But, yanno, I already read it once.

I personally dont enjoy running my own arcs over and over endlessly. Just to play different stuff. I have even less of a desire to beg my friends to play my arcs.

I lived in a fantasy bubble I suppose. I thought people would see arcs that werent farms or yanno generic crudola and have fun and say nice stuff.

Its not like that. So whatever. Not worth my time.
I never farmed anything in the MA. But I did watch the MA buildings go from full to empty almost over night. Which means even less people will play my stuff. It was all a popularity contest anyways. And I just dont have the patience for that.

Rubber- have you tried following the [SFMA] tags? Those are supposedly "Story-Focused Mission Arcs", and the tag should shut out the farms and whatnot.

I did not write a fangasm.

Seriously. I have three short and cheesy stories that might get a little laugh out of you.

You have to look for the gems (not to say that what I write is a gem, that's for you to determine)

I've started 4, finished 3, tested & posted 2. Hard only 1 get any play. It was at 4 stars, immediately after the post I14 patch it got negative comments, so I yanked it. I eventually retested, changed the map, reposted...now two x 4 stars again.

I figure I will go back and add tags to see if I can get more plays, maybe finish testing and post the 3rd, but otherwise waiting for I15.

Still making yes.
Getting done and published. . .No.

If anything I love fiddeling with the custom critter creator. So I mostly make stuff and just test it out.

The funny thing is the arc that I put the most time and effort into "City of the Apes" has less plays than one I just threw together.

Ohhh that's what that means. I've been telling everyone to tag their farms with that because I thought it meant:
Secret Farm Mission Arc

I've got two arcs up (see sig) and I am working very slowly on my third. It's going to be really different - not humor focused - and I want it to be juuust right. People will probably hate it though.

If I had more slots I'd probably do another quickie I have an idea for that would write itself, unlike the one I'm working on. But I don't like the idea of putting one up, hyping here on the boards (see my sig down there? Nice isn't it? Enticing even...) and then yanking it for another, so I'm making my final arc the one I really want to do.

For anyone who wants more plays, hyping your work on these forums (SEE MY SIG DOWN THERE? THOSE ARCS ARE COMEDY GOLD - SRSLY! Ok, I'll stop now, sorry) really, really helps. As do the tags like SFMA.

Actually I had this kinda idealistic concept of 'hey cool, I can make things for others to enjoy' and I expected they would do the same. We'd get lots of interesting and variable stories that wouldn't be another just another council mission. I didn’t follow the development, didn’t know about HOF or Dev Choice, or getting awarded tickets.

Additionally, I looked forward to the ability to do challenge arcs as well as sub-challenge arcs. Some of the ideas I had for challenges just don’t work in the I14 MA. The others I haven’t bothered with. By sub-challenge I mean I’ve always had defenders/trollers built for teams, and are lousy soloers, so I’d like some easier mission setting for them. Blues. That’s one arc that gets play, gets rated 4s, which is just fine.

I have one almost finished but not published, due to some technical difficulties.

But your second sentence hit the nail on the head; I only have slots...it's making me think twice about putting something up.

Yes, but following that logic, you should not put up your second, because that will be your last.
