Bad levels a Fire/kin Controller
[ QUOTE ]
And Inertial Reduction makes you JUMP! WHEEE! Yeah I agree with you there. That's the most useless power in the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's as good as super jump, the only difference being it doesn't help you get to acrobatics...if you need it. Obviously it's pointless to take it with a travel power, but it's a good substitute for one.
true...and when solo i go that route, but on teams....I usually dont get near the dog pile. I use siphon power to increase my holds from afar....while waiting on other stuff to recharge. Usually the mobs are down before FS recharges for the next round

So take super jump
Edit: Click Sig, gives good advice for Fire/Kins
B_I, I'm a big fan of building your(general) characters however you want, regardless of whatever "bad" choices people can make. But, IMO, there is no point in playing a kin if you don't have Fulcrum Shift. The power is that good.
I know you're not that high yet, but I want to suggest Stone Mastery for your epic. Fissure + Flashfire will stun bosses, plus it does great damage. I personally prefer defense over resistance, so I like Rock Armor. Earth's Embrace is like dull pain, and it can easily be made perma with hasten or some investment in set bonuses.
re: IR - it's a preference thing, really. I like it over SJ because I can get KB protection with IOs without running Acrobatics and when I'm using it I can keep Combat Jumping running for immobilize protection for those random immobs that get thrown at you occasionally when you misjudge the aggro radius land a little too close.
But I don't use it in missions unless it's a large, open map (any more than I'd use Super Jump during a mission).
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

Day 2, evening: the Fire/kin is level 12.
I can unequivocably state the following: I have played many ATs and many sets. I'm experienced as a player. Been around.
I AM IN ENDURANCE-ISSUES HELL!!
I have never, and I do mean never, ever seen anything with endurance issues like this, and this includes all AoE-sportin' Brutes and Scrappers I've owned.
I can't believe so many people think End. issues don't need adjusting. This is beyond stupid, its beyond inconvenient, its beyond any dream of logical balance. I can see that the next eight levels are gonna be honey bunches o'fun. [sigh] After a while I was like "**** this" and I went and ran a TF with friends on a level 50.
And people wonder why others want to PL past these levels! Its like a dentist visit with no Novocaine.
To be continued...
Yeah, my fire/kin eats through endurance faster than any other character I've ever used. It's not even close. But it also does massive AoE damage in the later levels.

Kinetic Controller runs out of endurance, news at 11!
a. Kinetics goes through a lot of endurance if you use pretty much anything.<ul type="square">[*]Siphon Speed costs endurance for a +recharge buff that lets you go through endurance even faster.[*]Siphon Power costs evenmore endurance than Siphon Speed at a higher frequency.[*]Repel just makes endurance bars everywhere weep and gnash their teeth.[*]Transfusion is actually fairly cheap... but it's a heal and as such does nothing to help you actually kill things (well, besides the -regeneration, but that doesn't contribute damage), and you may end up using it more often than you'd like.[/list]b. Controller primaries use a lot of endurance. This is because they have added endurance cost due to the control aspect instead of having costs factored in as damage powers. Just compare the cost of killing something with a Dominator primary compared to doing the same damage with their secondary sometime, you'll see what I mean. Containment helps mitigate this somewhat, but if you're firing off controls as soon as they recharge you're going to run out quickly.
c. Fire Control has all of its damage as DoT, causing many to use more attacks than are strictly necessary to defeat a mob since the damage is still ticking off when the next (overkill) attack is used.
Every time I've given recommendations on Kinetics I told people that endurance is going to be a big issue until they get Transference - Stamina only slows the bleeding, it does nothing to fix it. But once you've got some +recovery set bonuses, endurance reduction slotting, and Stamina you can at least pretend that your endurance bar goes above 10 until you hit level 35.
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

Uh... no.

It's already been nerfed, long ago.

Would highly recommend abandoning your usual IO-at-50 routine and start picking up every possible pair of +recovery IO sets. Gobs of fire/kin powers take these little goodies and help take the edge off. Heck, with clever buying you can get some major end reduction in Hot Feet as well as more stacked recovery bonuses.
That and get Flashfire ASAP and pair all the stun sets that give recovery (acc/rech, acc/stun/rech).
I've done it with 2 fire/kins (and same basic approach with 2 frads) so far, and wouldn't do it any other way these days.

Day 3: still level 12 atm. Did get on a team today but the leader insisted on trying to run Castanella's first mission on Rugged[?] - the setting under Invincible, at any rate - and I zoned in, took a look at an Oranbega hallway packed with CoT, including two red-title Spectrals and politely bowed out. I know a debt-farm when I see one.
I have not picked up either Repel or Siphon Speed yet. I doubt I will pick up Repel due to its situational use; if I do it will be in the very late game. But probably not; it seems like a thing it would be really easy to annoy teammates with. My builds are usually too tight for this kind of extra.
I quite simply do not have anywhere near the endurance it would take to run Speed at the moment; hell, I don't have the end to run what I have as it is. This power will wait until later. Meanwhile I am setting up the Fitness triad. This will not solve my problems, but at this point any help is welcome.
I notice that 1-DO-ACC-slotted Transfusion simply *does not* hit orange-title NPCs. It seems to have at least a 50% miss-rate with yellow-titles. For as much End as it costs to run it, this is an infuriatingly high miss-rate and I admit to being extremely displeased about it. Eventually it will have three ACCs - just as soon as I have everything three END-slotted. At level 12 this seems extremely far away.
Due to end-costs I find this alt to not be very solo-able. I'm going to have to be teamed. I'm not giving up, but as things stand now I have taken math exams that were more fun to run that this alt. I'm hanging in there, however. I sense the potential for tremendous power, and I always enjoy that.
Not big on delayed gratification, tho. lol
Quick question. What Origin did you make your Fire/Kin?
If Magic, then Accuracy SOs from Yin's shop in Faultline will help you hit significantly. If you went with Tech, then this is your lucky day, because Tech Origin heroes get Endurance Reductions from Yin's shop.

60 second base recharge time, in a set that has a self-Recharge buff, for a nuke-level effect. You don't see the problem with capping an entire team's damage basically non-stop?
Compare with the next closest power, Heat Loss.

Fulcrum Shift as it is, is the big payoff for slogging through over 30 levels of mediocrity. Not having that to look forward to could easily kill off any remaining motivation to play a /kin Controller ever again.

If the rest of the set is as mediocre as you say, then the rest of the set should be buffed to compensate. As it is, FS also effectively eliminates the need to have Siphon Power. I have the same problem with Kin's partner in crime, /Stone Armor.

Siphon power is still quite useful alongside FC. Remember. For the most efficient benefit from Fulcrum Shift, you need to be near "ground zero, aka in melee range of the target, or close to melee range. Invariably, you will have Blasters on the team who absolutely refuse to close in to get the buffs (or heals, or blue bar refill). For those, you can stand next to them and pop off a Siphon Power as a consolation prize.
Additionally, Siphon Power is a good power to have until you get Fulcrum Shift, unless you fancy waiting 38 levels before being able to put out some decent damage.

When you can get FS down to 20 second recharge, for a 45 second buff, you really don't need Siphon Power all that much. Foolish Blasters don't really make up for the power slot, really.

As IanTheM said, don't become too attached to this. Psionic Assault's Psionic Shockwave is getting nerfed, despite the fact that Dominators have to go through 37 levels of suckiness for the big payoff. So with your view, there's no more reason to level a /Psi Assault dominator?
Siphon Power (post-Fulcrum) is a damage debuff for hard hitting mobs that stacks quite well with Fulcrum, and it's stackable for 1/3 of it's duration on the base recharge, and easily permanently double-stacked.
-60% damage is better than -20%, and with Fulcrum doublestacked as well you can hit -80% for stints (note that the debuff for FS only lasts 30s, the buff lasts 45s).

The point being that if and when Castle nerfs PS, he'll be buffing the rest of the set to compensate.
But then, I don't think /Kin really needs it.

Realistically speaking, do you need hard-hitting damage debuffs on a team of damage capped anything? That said, I could see it possibly being useful for AVs (depends on how badly they resist -DMG).
