Purple farm

Is level 47 minions (and hence the mission level) the lowest level that will drop purples?

A level 47 enemy has the potential to drop a purple recipe, provided that enemy does not con grey to you. I don't believe a level 50 farming level 47 minions is going to be able to get a purple drop, unless they're level 47 minions generated thru Ouroboros while the level 50 is exemped to level 45.

Or, to put it differently, I think that if you want to farm for purples you want to have it spawning level 48 minions for maximum efficiency, since they will be green to a level 50 and therefore eligible to give drops.

If I'm wrong, I'm confident someone will correct me.

I've /heard/ it has to be a level fifty creature, as mobs only drop recipes of their own level. Or the nearest 5th level in the case of Generic IOs.

Unless something was changed a level 47 can drop a purple. Also you can be level 50 when it drops from him.
I have a mission I run at level 50 where the bad guys are 47.
Yes,I have got purples from this mission.

Any critter that is capable of dropping a level 50 IO has a chance to drop a "Purple".

[/ QUOTE ]

Basically if you can get level 50 drops from it, you can get purple recipes. Green conning enemies are the best to farm since you can kill them faster than even level and higher.

I have, people I know have, and people all over the forums have. So yeah. It's definitely possible.

I've gotten 3 on sub-50s (soloing on heroic at level 48).

At level 50, you CAN get purple drops from 47's. I have a 47 farm that i run with a 50. I've also gotten drops from the CoT scientists in PI which are 47's.

If your intent is to get purples, that raises the question of what is the best investment of your time. Supposedly the drop rate is a 1 in 5000 chance. So is it better to be level 50 farming a lvl 48 map directly for purple drops? Or better to do something else that generates better influence per defeat and just buy whatever purps you want on the market? Either a lvl 50 farm or maybe something like the ITF where you not only get a ton of inf but merits that you can use to get recipes that you can sell to generate inf to buy your purps.

That's a bit of a trick question, of course. The best investment of your time is to learn to make money on the market directly. It's amazingly easy in this game.

I know you are right on this.Or I assume you are because everyone seems to agree with that statement. But if there one part of this game I very much dislike it is the market.
I think some enterprising ebil marketer should start some sort of investment service.I give them a few 100 million, they double it and keep a percentage.Just so I don't have to go near the market.

The problem is those guys don't need your money to make money because they already have billions so they aren't motivated to do it. I know some had done it in the distant past but any mention of it now tends to get a "Why would I want to do that?" response.

Why is it no matter what the question is, someone answers with a "market is the key" answer? Maybe not everyone wants to play that aspect of the game. I have hundreds of millions and all i do is sell on the market the drops that i get. I'm not or not going to be a "marketeer" and alot of others feel the same way.

Farming the wall in Cim has always been the most lucarative way for me to find purples....

Havent done it in awhile tho so I can't comment on the current drop rate. A few months ago...it was awesome. I would easily get 1-2 purples in a few hours spent.

"No matter what the question is"? Please. The guy was asking about the best way to obtain purples. He was only thinking of farming, but the unsurpassed method is to make the most inf per unit of time invested is the market. I guarantee that he could farm to his heart's content for purples but a marketeer could make enough inf during that time to buy way more purples than will drop in the farms.

You don't have to like that answer and you don't have to play the market. But the OP asked a question and I was trying to help him think outside the box.

Don't mind eryq2 or whatever. Even after countless times of us pointing out to him that "playing the market" takes practically no time or any real investment to see turn-around, he's convinced that it's some kind of second job.

You see, we know you for what you are. Anti-market. Which is fine, but that means you have no credibility when you come into random threads ranting.

Would it be so hard to both kill stuff for purples and play the market for purples? More on the market that way, everyone's happy.

The ITF sounds like a good way to kill multiple birds with one stone. Co-op for the most people, lots of level 50+ enemies, merits, AVs, and I feel after beating Romulus and co and saving Cimerora for the millionth time, you've earned a little farming on the side.

Maybe he'd rather use his powers that he has obtained and kill some mobs rather than play the market. Some people like the market, some don't. Funny how marketeers take it so personally that everyone don't want to do it too.

There is a reason for that. The market functions better the more people participate.
