End game in CoX?

I recently upgraded from the trial to a full subscription and the question arose in my head after playing one of my characters, what exactly is there to do end game? Primarily PvE because PvP is just bashing each others heads in, which is enough fun and reward in itself to beat someone else, but what do you get out of PvE end game and what do you do in PvE end game? Strike teams?

This question has been asked many, many times. And answered many more times, with a wide variety of opinions and options.

The goal of a game (never mind the end-game), is to have fun. So, do what you find fun. That can differ from day to day, hour to hour. Whatever works.

That is the game.

That is the end-game.

In addition, are you asking, "What do I do with a level 50 character?"

Or "How are you still playing after 4.5 years and multiple 50s and still can't get enough?"

The game doesn't start at 50. It starts at 1. Enjoy it. Play. Explore. Experiment. Compete. Socialize.

50 is a journey, not a destination

There is no 'End Game' as other MMOs would have it for CoX. The Devs would put it that it's not the end but the journey.

That being said, you will be inundated shortly by all the info to choose from as far as End Game goes here. Pick and choose what you like, or just do it all. There are TF Trial a couple of Raid and new content around 3 times a year added. Personally, I still haven't gotten tired of it with my Sig Main Villain, and he's seen it all. But when I feel the need, I roll an Alt to do it again from a different standpoint.

I do agree with the first answer; have fun.

My question is more of "What can I do while I'm at 50". I am enjoying the game's story and mish's, but I wanted to know was there something interesting to do and something to reap rewards from once I've gotten 50.

Heroes:

Statesman TF
Dr. Khan TF (Issue 15)
Shadow Shard TFs

Villains:

Lord Recluse SF
Barracuda SF (Issue 15)

Both:

Flashback Missions
Mission Architect Missions
Mender Silos TF/SF
Hamidon Raid
Rikti Mothership Raid

You can also exemp down and run any of the non-50 TFs/SFs.

I enjoy PvE far and away more than I enjoy PvP. As for what I do in PvE, it varies. I enjoy forming and leading mission teams. I enjoy helping out new players as they learn the game. I enjoy Task/Strike Forces. I enjoy the occasional Mothership or Hamidon Raid.

I also enjoy badgehunting, though that activity may not strictly fall under the heading of PvE in all cases.

Yes, there are many interesting, rewarding and challenging things to do with a level 50 character. It's kept my first 50 active for over three and a half years.

Amen to that! My main and original 50 has spent more hours playing AT 50 than many of my characters took to GET to 50.

At the level cap, you'll probably find yourself tweaking your build a lot, seeing if you can get the most out of it to fight the most formidable enemies in the game. You have lots of time and money to IO your character out, and you'll start getting purple drops that you can either use or sell to fund that.

You have access to four costume slots (five after Halloween), as well as capes, auras, and any other costume part you can now afford, so you may well find yourself spending hours messing with your costumes.

Level 50 characters in this game are pretty damn badass, really. The devs never want to raise the level cap because they feel you can already do anything at 50, and they may be right- you have a lot of freedom there. It can get kinda scary. Your progression isn't counted by a pink wheel anymore, you can set whatever goals for yourself you want.

I do wish there was content (besides recipes) exclusively for level 50's. But I suppose for now all the 45-50 TF's and Hamidon Raids are good enough.

Is it already that time of year for the annual end game discussion, wow time flies...anyways I do not have my insert standard comment button working of CoX is not about end game...it is about getting there...yadda yadda, but to be honest this game is great because of the level 0 more than any other game, I love creating characters more than playing them sometimes and I can not count how many level 1 through 5 characters I have that I havent even played yet....

For many of us, PvP is the end game. It can provide the ultimate test to your characters build and your ability to use that character. You will face a thinking opponent that is capable of adapting rather than just the stupid AI that will always do the same thing.

You will hear many negative things about PvP from the haters, but really you should try it before forming an opinion.

Okay, here's what I've done ON my first 50 since I got him there back in October of last year.

1: Hamidon raids
2: Statesman's Task Force (And Master)
3: Rikti Ship Raids
4: Various invasions
5: Booted MAJOR behind of every conceivable type of enemy during the Anniversary event.
6: Tested the high end of my Mission Architect arcs
7: Imperious Task Force
8: Badges and Accolades I missed on the way up.
9: Ouroboros missions of arcs I missed on the way up.
10: Been an available heavy hitter when someone needs a huge brick wall (Inv/SS Tank)
11: Working on pimping my main build for ultimate scranker-dom.
12: Working on pimping my second build for max defense that rather gently degrades back down into the low 30's.
13: Worked on my SG base (my primary ALONE has over 2.5 MILLION prestige sunk into the group.
14: Worked other toons I've wanted to work. I now have another 50 blue-side, two 50's red-side, and I'm currently pushing a Controller through as many arcs as I can on the way to 50 (currently sitting on 359-ish merits on that one alone).

Lotsa stuff to do.

And if you wanna get into PvP, 50's as good a place as any to start. Recipes might make it actually worthwhile now.

I'm at level 50 and I still have a ton of normal contact missions left, then going back and doing all the arcs I missed via Ouroboros, then there's a few GM badges to get as well as some X of Y badges. Then a few task forces and trials I missed but the trouble there is finding teams that won't speed run them simply for merits.

I've been playing since mid-2004, and I still haven't done everything there is to do. I've done most of it, mind. But not all of it.

There's still some story arcs I haven't done - mostly villain ones. It's really really hard to do every single story arc on your way to 50. Chances are you're gonna skip over stuff, as I have. And, hell...I've not done all the 45-50 villain arcs yet, much less the lower-level ones.

Viva Ouroboros! Endless fun.

In the past year, I've also had a lot of fun IO'ing my 50s. I mean...I like playing the game itself. I like the combat engine. So I also like tweaking my characters to do my favoured playstyle, but better. That's fun for me too, and it's an endgame in itself.

I've taken to turning off my "Earn XP" before I outlevel my contacts, so I don't fly by them. That has to be one of the best features added that I absolutely love!

If I were just starting the game, I probably would do the race to 50 to unlock the Hero or Villain Epic Archetypes, but now that I have them unlocked, I can take the time to enjoy the content at all levels.

Don't forget you can use Purple Sets at only level 50, Hami Orgin Enhancements at 47, most folks try to get all the accolades at 50 so that there character can get all the extra power ups. Then you have the task forces that many have listed. BUT mainly people use there 50's to fund influence/infamy to there lower level chars they are trying to level.

PvP becomes somethign that people get into at 50 for those that learn how to min/max there chars and develope a pvp playstyle.

Costume contests. Its all about the costume contests.

( As told to my daughter's lvl 4 when she asked a 50 hanging out in Atlas.)

There's considerable difference in playstyle between different character types.

There's considerable difference in playstyle between different sizes and shapes of team.

So I'm a big fan of "Go back and do it again." (It took me over three years after introduction to start really hitting redside hard.)

Also, with Architect Entertainment, there's way more content than anyone can use. Unfortunately the filtering is not quite there yet, and there are several axes of "oops" that can happen when building a mission.
