i've been thinking the same thing, and while I'm cutting back on my time in game, that's nothing new for me, nor is is because of anything that's happened with the game.
I'm sure all the stuff that went down last week will blow over and never darken the skies of the cities again*. I'm sad to see so many good people with whom we have played for so long decide to leave, but I'm also a little concerned that the handful that are going will cause other old timers to rethink their reamaining behind.
In any event, I hope you all make it back sometime, and if not that you are well and happy whatever you do.
*though I doubt seriously there will be any official statement about it, which is too bad since that would more directly address people's reasons for leaving. (Not to go back into it again, but from what I heard people saying, their gripes tend to be about not "what happened," but "how it happened.")

Tis a funny thang, but when GW got into power not just once, but twice, I asked myself over and over what the living He** was I doing staying in this country? 'I have other passports .. I don't have to stay here!', I though to myself whilst ruminating over pregnant chads and re-election hallucinations .....
I stay and pay my dues because I love this country, this state and most of all .. these damned good peoples!!!
Sure, things get screwed up, and these days more than ever, a good spanking by voting with your dollar is an excellent idea. .... although being touched by con sounds darkly intriguing ... dammit that seals it .. I'm going to have to stay if only to figure out exactly what that means!
I absolutely understand and reluctantly support everyone who feels the need to vote with their pocketbooks and protest as they see fit.
I'm very sorry this issue has been handled in such a way that it provokes such disappointment and betrayal for some.
I do not approve of this ... it offends me too.
But, like the state of AHHHnnold, like America ... I love this game and I'm staying anyway. As long as I can and my house doesn't go into foreclosure .. which could be a month or two.
Come back and visit us, and bring a pair of handcuffs for con. Lucas has that look again .....

I agree that the hubbub over this, like so many other things will eventually subside, regardless of whether folk are pleased with the manner of subsiding or not.
It is very hard to see people who have been part of the game community leave, MMOs are unique in that their draw is the ability to interact with people you have come to know and new people. Seeing someone leave game can be as difficult as losing a friend in RL.
Sass hits the nail on the head a well, in that these difficult economic times, folks may have been on the fence about leaving as well due to job/income issues already, and this just caused them to do what they would have had to do anyway, only a few months earlier. That's a harsh reality. I have heard that you can take a break for a few months, resubscribe and still have your characters. However, since I have not done this, if this is not true I apologize. But if it is, it might be a nice way to ride out the economic realities and current drama until things look slightly rosier.
I may just be speaking for myself, but i feel every person that leaves leaves a hole behind, and those of us that stay miss the absent ones and hope to see them in game again some day.

I really hope people rethink quitting a game over what was probably a huge mistake by the devs.
The friends ive made playing this game are why I still play years later, trust me its not to do another ITF.
I just hope people take a break and come back with a fresh approach to the game we all love. But don't leave angry over one stupid move by the devs when they gave us so much fun over the years.
Even I am putting one of my accounts on hold (this one) just for awhile to have more time for other games but im not leaving.
