Well that's reasonable. I just reread the thread (insomnia is a horrible thing) and I saw perhaps three posters I could call whiny. One a person saying they were leaving, another flying off the handle about it, and another who just seems to have hit the ceiling.
Me I find this thread interesting, in that I am on the fence about continuing the game. I am really unhappy with recent events. Hundreds to thousands of posts are gone, users are calling for mods to silence threads. The developer handling of the MA was less than professional on many levels. The reaction of the community even more so.
I constantly find myself asking of some people just what would it take for some people to say wow the devs screwed up and aren't making the situation better ?

One thing to note here too - TR was never going to clear it's initial investment costs with that level of subscribers.
In other words - it's not that they weren't outpacing maintenance costs (which is a killer - you can't maintain your servers you're done.) - but that the budget was so high it pretty much NEEDED to be a WoW killer.
Even with 100k+ it might have died.
CoH on the other hand, has been profitable for a long time - the investment has already been repaid and then some. So we'll survive down to a relatively small number of players.
Look at some of the other pre-WoW MMOs for an idea of just how low a game can actually go before dying for good.
Just wanted to clear that up; in case anyone was actually concerned. It takes a *lot* to actually kill a profitable MMO; but not so much to crash one that's way overbudget and isn't performing at expectation. That's why a big launch is so important - it's a chance to make up for all the cash you spent making the game. I mean great if you can keep the players a long time, that's obviously the goal; but as long as you make back that initial investment, the game will at least live for fair while.
This of course is with the caveat that executive stupidity can cancel anything, profitable or otherwise. I'm not sure we have to worry about that though.

I would have to say the actual number is significantly less then 127k. I am one person and I would count for 4 people since I have 4 accounts and many of my friends have 2-3 accounts...
I have been very unhappy with current events in the game also. The willy nilly threats of banning, calling everyone who used MA cheaters, the blattent disregard for customer service... I have yet to get some customer service rep to respond when ever I have had a bug happen in game. Had to either quit, restart, the mission or TF all the time... the couple times I have got someone on it was way to late. They don't fix problems to make the game smoother. If I wanted to play in a buggy, non reliable play enviroment I would be on the test server.
They have till my subscription runs out to change my mind about not renewing.
I am becoming more and more discontent with this game. If it wasn't for the people play with I would probably already of changed games.

Except I care about this game very much, and i do enjoy it, I am leaving based on principle (maybe you don't understand that you have to actually have them to understand). I donated many hours of my time in game to help other players so they could come to love it as i have. Not to mention that a majority of all my influence was always donated as well. What have you done other than tell them to shut up on the board?.

Wow i think there are allot of crappy customer service departments who love people like you; you quietly just wonder off as they just use you. Good for you be proud of that. Any government that abuses their people and just wants they to accept it is right since they make the law would love people like you as well. Both Mod 08 and Nivene know full well i am aware of the consequences of my actions I have spoken to both.
Stay in the dark it's your right, accept what ever is blindly done to this game. When it effects you be sure to do as you have said an don't make one single post expressing your opinion. Better yet since you seem to have a problem with others expressing their opinions then maybe you shouldn't either. See it goes both ways. I paid my money and have done so for years i will use my privileges until it is up trying very hard to express my opinion and find others who feel the same in some desperate attempt to get who ever is behind the recent decisions to look at the unhappiness of some of their customers and see that there may be a ramification to this that outweighs the reward.
Are you not concerned that enough unhappy people will end this game eventually? The site that was last updated in 2008 shows a steady decline since 04 and if you actually listen to the shareholder report from NC Soft it states that CoH has remained steady. Steady won't be enough when they keep chasing people away. Also it is clear in that report that Lineage and Aion are some of their priorities not CoH which is barely mentioned. I15 doesn't even sound good enough to bring in that many people. Going Rouge does but by then there will be more competition. See i actually care enough to be vocal and not just kiss dev [censored] and tell them everything they do is just peachy. (that was meant in general and not directed at you i have no idea whose [censored] you kiss)

How can i find the hundreds of others who have canceled multiple accounts? For an addendum to her little lesson, Freedom of Speech only applies when talking openly about the government and its practices. The government cannot censor you. You sign up for the forums, so you agree to their rules. If you don't follow those rules, then you aren't allowed you use the service.

well really, you would think a dev developer would do the same and not throw a hissy fit like a 2yr old. but look what happen. It was a devs tantrum and him reverting to a 2yr old again that start this. But i dont see you saying anything about that. For example. Breaking a Non Disclosure Agreement can cost you (General You) thousands of dollars if the breech of contract damages a company's image, or their product's image.
Every person who utilizes the forums has agreed to the terms of such a contract. Wherein they limit their freedom of speech on specific subjects. Threads that discuss 'Bannings' or 'Character Deletion' are breaking that rule. The Devs have every right to 'Silence the truth!' when the truth should be discussed only in the appropriate channels which every End User has agreed to.
Spreading news or 'truth' of people being rolled back or having characters locked damages the image of the company and the product. This can result in a loss of profits.
So rather than overwork the Moderators in their attempt to enforce the rules TAKE UP YOUR (General You) ISSUES WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE.
This is -NOT- a Civil Rights Issue. This is NOT The Abolition. This is either an -error- in the game's coding which needs to be repaired or it's a duly notified punishment being meted out.
Subverting other threads to your (general you) purpose will not help the matter and will only exacerbate it as multiple threads unrelated to the 'Taboo' topic get locked or deleted based on your (again, general you) actions.

However you (general You) can choose, within the confines of a contract, to give up freedom of speech on specific topics. In most cases breaking the contract results in serious litigation.
For example. Breaking a Non Disclosure Agreement can cost you (General You) thousands of dollars if the breech of contract damages a company's image, or their product's image.
Every person who utilizes the forums has agreed to the terms of such a contract. Wherein they limit their freedom of speech on specific subjects. Threads that discuss 'Bannings' or 'Character Deletion' are breaking that rule. There is what they can do and what is right. You are an adult ? You should know the difference.
Didn't say anything about trends, just that they don't get spikes because of one thing or another. Can't tell exactly how many accounts they lost due to PvP changes because they lose and gain accounts for so many other reasons, the numbers don't suddenly jump up or down in a week or two. The spate of people saying "I've cancelled my account' doesn't show up against the background noise of natural changes. The overall trend for account numbers can show interesting information, no doubt, but its an aggregate of so many different changes and other trends that saying anything about any one is difficult, I imagine.
Thats only using one variable though, I am sure they have all sorts of metrics which allow them to look at particular things (number of different accopunts who engage in PvP, % of ATs created etc...)
