Best At Duo Team

I just started to play with my son we are looking for a good At team for both the red side and the blue. What types work well together. What types do not work well together? One good player one inexperienced player. Thanks for your time so let the heated discussion begin....

I would say that, considering that there's one new player to consider here, a Scrapper/Defender (or Controller) or Brute/Corruptor duo would be a good way to go on this.

You, as the more experienced player, from what I can gather, would be the Defender/Corruptor. Use your buffs to make the Scrapper/Brute more survivable, and then join in with the blasting, and allow your son to go in first to get the aggro. With a decent defender behind him, your son shouldn't have anything to worry about, and can probably charge into the fray without too many worries.

Edit -. Also, I forgot to mention: welcome to the game and to the forums!

Answering the other half of your question - there really isn't anything that doesn't work together. Any combo that works towards you and your teammate's personal preferences can be fantastic, fun and good.

Some might say Knockback and Melee doesn't work well together. I simply consider that bad playing. Knockback should be thought of as "throwing". Pick where you want to throw the enemies and then throw them at the target. Don't shoot guys off the meleer who wants enemies standing near them -- shoot enemies towards the meleer.

*EDIT* I have two brothers and a few friends from the real world who play. Here are some awesome duo combos that we find enjoyable.

Emp/X & Emp/X Defender - Each teammates buffs the other into King Kong
You Fortitude me, I Fortitude you. You do your Regeneration/Recovery Auras first, then I'll do mine. You Adrenaline Boost me, I'll Adrenaline Boost you. These guys will show you why some people giggle at the thought of "we need heals".

Radiation x 2 - Using death as a weapon.
Fallout and Vengeance both are amazing with a teammate who knows how to die. Also, Radiation debuffs and Accerlate Metabolism are amazing.

Thug/Storm MM x 2 - More chaos!
A huge horde of Thugs who benefit from being around more thugs and Freezing Rain is crazy cool.

If you're willing to wait for the payoff, then a stone tanker and kinetics defender can wreck things quite nicely. Granite Armor makes a stone tanker pretty unkillable, but their ability to move and kill stuff goes right in the toilet. Kinetics defenders can turn anything into a wrecking machine, so that can easily offset Granite's downsides.

Of course, that's at level 32, when stone tankers get Granite Armor and kinetics defenders get Fulcrum Shift. Before that, it's pretty good, but it won't rock your socks off quite so much.

Villain side, pretty much any brute and a corruptor with kinetics has similar effects. You have to wait longer for the payoff, because corruptors don't get Speed Boost until 20 and Fulcrum Shift until 38, but oh man, what a payoff it is.

It would be very safe though, and with a good damaging secondary on both toons, would be just fine in terms of damage output, especially if it's a /sonic defender. The defender would be running siphon power double stacked during hasten for a nice damage output by level 10. Most tanks get an aoe at 16, and /dual blades gives a nice -def component to help the defender with the needed hits for the primary.

This would be a very nice duo before 20 IMO.

While there's a difference in Skill level to consider, I might suggest the following...

Plant/EMP Controller & Katana/Fire Scrapper

My GF & I have been running a pair like this as one of our Duo Projects. With the early AoE Immobile and AoE Confuse, the Controller is able to keep Mobs stuck and hitting each other while the Scrapper slices and dices. At this point, this pair is in their mid 30s and we are having fun with them.

Just a thought.

Thank you for the time...

My 2 inf

I'm currently working a fire/dark Corr and a Ninja/FF MM duo. Good +def, great debuffs, and the damage is quite nice too.

Sometimes you get the bear; sometimes he get you, rips your head off, sucks out your eyes, pulls out your spleen, humps your leg and pees in your boots

I'm in favor of Brute + Corr because it has a great mix of damage, buffs, and tanking. MM + MM is good too.

I say two scrappers. It's my belief that the only thing better than a scrapper is more scrappers. As long as they don't steal my kills.

You could both do MMs Red Side.

The overwhelming abilities you'd both would make it a comfortable experience.

If you're looking for a less "experienced" secondary for your MM combo go with pain. The heals, buffs and debuffs will make for a great combo.

If you're looking for an odder combo go with Storm and Poison.
Of course if MMs aren't what you're looking for you could try a

A tank and a blaster is always a good combo. Specifically a tank that is really good at holding agro and a blaster with a lot of AoE.

My wife and I have several duos that we run. We've been teaming together for a long time though, so we can make combos work that some players would look at like "Huh?"

Our most successful pairing is my Broadsword/Dark Armor scrapper and her Illusion/Storm controller. Between the two of us we literally have a tool for every situation. Also,we can both ghost (using stealth to get past non-required objectivs in missions)

We also have: Dark Melee/Dark Armor scrapper + Dark Miasma/Dark Blast defender, Rad/Sonic defender + Dark Armor/Fire Melee tank, Dark/Kin and Fire/Kin corruptors (level pacted), Zombies/Poison MM and DM/Nin stalker (she handles the minions and LTs with her pets, I kill bosses)
Gravity/Ice dominator + Electric/Electric brute.

As you can see, any pairing can be effective. The most important thing about an effective duo is COMMUNICATION. If the two of you are not on the same page as far as strategy and tactics are concerned you will not be nearly as effective as a duo who is. My wife and I sit right next to each other when we play so typing in team chat is unnecessary. If you are playing with your son in the same house, make sure you are close enough physically to be able to hear each other.

thanks for the advice every one. We are trying a brute stalker team and a defender scrapper team. So far having fun although we do have a couple of kinks to work out as far as team stratergy is concern.

So far my favorite combos on blueside are as follows:

We got the first set to 50 very quickly
Inv/Axe Tanker
MA/Reg Scrapper

We're working on these right now, but it's been a blast.
Dual Peacebringers

Really, this combo is slow, but anyone coming to the team... I mean anyone, makes this set awesome.
Stone/Therm Troller
Plant/Therm Troller
