Out of curiosity, how automatic is mainenance/patch application? Do hardware people go in earlier than devs?

this really isnt me [censored], i dont think they have much of a plan, if its regular scheduled maintenance it usually goes pretty smooth, but if its unscheduled theres an actual problem maintenance, your guess seems to be as good as theirs

so adding a g to bitchin makes it bad? all this time its been g's that are bad, and here i thought it was the hateful intent behind the word

I'm annoyed because I hardly ever play anymore. I'm in Australia and by the time I get the kids in bed, I'm just in time for maintenance. Which seems to be every flippin night at the moment since I14

it would be nice if they actually tested something long enough to make sure it works before they release it, that seems to be a computer industry wide phenomenon, its apparently more important to release a product now than it is to release a product that works and won't piss off 1/2 of your user base

Early? Isn't 8AM ET the regular time? Or is it 9AM? It used to switch for me, and then the idiotic powers that be forced us to start moronically switching our clocks twice a year.

its 9 am est for scheduled maintenance, but as far as i know, this isnt scheduled
if it is, id like someone to show me where they post the schedule

Actually 9 am Monday and Friday are regular maintenance, but this is a patch deployment so I think they choose when they want to bring them down for a patch.

Patches recently have been an hour earlier.

Mission Architect has caused allot of bugs and bases still have bug issues as well. In addition the devs are dishing out the penalties for abuses to the architect system like power leveling and extreme farming. So I would imagine this patch is to ban some toons and remove from players badges that were created or obtained from these extreme cases of MA abuse and to put in place flags to catch such abuses quicker in the future. all im asking is how tough would it be for them to go to announcements and put up a two line post giving us some kind of idea when things will be up and running again? add an hour to your estimate, then when you get done early everyone will be happy, mechanics and star ship engineers have known that trick for eons 8P

The courtesy of an announcement when they're going to bring the servers down outside of the usual Monday & Friday maintenance and the usual time 9-11 AM Eastern would ease some of the frustration (and I don't mean an in game announcement, 30, 10, and 5 min beforehand, because I'm assuming there were those).

Was going to post along these lines as well. It feels like every-time I want to play (Perth, so GMT+8) the servers are down

I understand this stinks for those of us that get a weekday off. I'm guessing you maybe in indiana too. poo on daylight savings, get up early already!

You know their right though. It's not that hard to come on here post a thread stating servers will be down due to patches. It has taken me less than a minute to post this and no doubt they can do the same.

Posted

well how about everyone who reads this, when they get back in the game, sends a petition to the devs to do just that?

Posted

Not to mention the fact that we don't have patch notes. Once everyone is locked out of the servers, where's the harm in posting the patch notes?

Usually you can see what the notes are to the latest test server patch and have a pretty good run down of what is being patched, but I didn't see anything new in the training server forum.

I suspect this is the "other shoe" dropping with respect to MA abuse, as others have speculated above. Still, it would be nice to know for sure.

They don't have to pull the servers down to do this. They can ban accounts/toons/missions without any sort of maintenance at all.
