Combining salvage bins for use with the workbench
[ QUOTE ]
What I would like to see is when you are in the workstation, you get access to ALL the bins that you have permission to as if it were in your own salvage. That way you can quickly see what recipes need what when considering your base storage, and you are more precise on what you need, and what the base might need added.

Well, this is how it was stated to work, in a preview of the new base additions that included storage, but this feature never even made it to the Test Server AFAIK. Not sure why exactly, whether there was a problem getting it implemented, or they took it out because it might be confusing if you didn't have permission to remove stuff from the bins (and, like you said, *that* problem would be made worse with the separate permissions we have now).
But man, it sure would be handy.
Yeah I can understand the problem if you don't have permission but you are both right it would be very handy, I am the base builder and when trying to creaft items to put into the base... man I so wish I did not have to rummage for those items.
If they could work it sio you could only access what you had permission to use, maybe.
But there's also the SG's that grant leaders personal storage space. Those bins may be in a hard to access spot but have lower permissions set because that person has an alt with lower rank in the SG.
I can see that being done in RP SG's where they treat alts as seperate from their owners accounts.

And just to give credence to this statement: yes, I do it. My Mastermind, Cap'n Geist, is in a VG owned by one of my other characters, and Geist doesn't have leader permission because, in character, he's just not that important.

Another reason I do the same thing is because it gives people the impression there are a lot more leaders than there actually are, and that very few of them are ever on at the same time.
Maybe the the personal access could be dealt with in a different way. what about this:
At thw work station you see (meaning your recipes are highlighted etc) and access the salvage in bins that -you- have access to. Personal stprage could be implememented with an access rank of "playername" instead of the normal "SGrank". Adding essentiall an extra rank to the permissions list. (the rank of "single player only, with the player name added).
Also the personal storage vault should be included in this idea.
Oh! another possibility! A base object that increases the players Vault storage. That would completely solve the personal storage issue ( ok, it wouldnt be exclusive to leaders, but well you'll have to share the joy hm? )
The Vault is Personal Storage.
Only you can access what you put in the Vault.
Character by Character.
Black-Strike: lvl 50 AR/Dark Corruptor
Brutally Beautiful: lvl 50 BA/Inv Brute
Seared Earth: lvl 50 EC/EA Dominator
Yashi Onuku: lvl 50 Ninja Blade/Ninjitsu Stalker
Death-Widow: lvl 50 Night Widow

I know: it was an added solution for the teamleaders get personal storage problem. A base item that enlarges your vault. that way everyone get his cake and can eat it too.
How about an "Advanced Invention Crafting System"???
A device that accesses all base salvage storage *regardless of permissions* (aka it ignores permissions) that has an access permission of its own. That way those that are allowed unrestricted access to all storage (which most likely covers most of the members) can simply use the advanced system.
Of course I'd still like to see an "Advanced Salvage Storage System" ... one single device holding base max storage (which I hope will be increased) for SGs without access issues.
Why not make it simple and put permission in the storage rack that allows connection to the workbench?

Might just be me but I have a sneaking suspicion that having an object (invention table) checking permissions of its user against permissions of up to 18 salvage racks THEN listing the contents of those that the user has permissions for is akin to tying a steak to your bare [censored] and running past a pack of coyotes ......
How about this:
-Link the workbenches to all storage racks; for recipe viewing only. This would highlight any recipes that are craftable if the player could access all storage racks.
-Add a "Locate" button to the recipe. Clicking this button would make the applicable storage rack(s) glow (like a mission objective) so the user knows where the items are.
This would solve the "Do I have it?" and " Where is it?" issues without forcing a permission check on the system. The player would still need to rummage through the bins, but at least they would know which ones.

Personally I'd prefer the instant access, but this could work too, atleast there is a way to see what you have and get it.
Or... Just organize your stuff.
I have 8 racks presently. Finding what I want and need is rather easy. Within the base, the racks are divided into two, Arcane and Tech. 1 is rare salvage. 1 is uncommon salvage (2 of each), 1 is common salvage (3 of each), and 1 is common salvage (3 of each) and uncommon salvage (2 of each) which contains only what isn't in the uncommon or common racks.

Understandably this idea just became more difficult to implement with I14's separate bin permissions but still here goes:
I understand why the bins cant hold as much as they used to, the BM/WW wiouldnt have worked otherwise.
But when crafting at your base it's (to me) a big annoyance to have to rummage through all bins to see if the stuff you need is in there ( we have 8 bins to keep it organized )

This idea does not add more storage, or change anything regarding permissions, its a different way to UI base storage and the crafting station -in base-.
Good idea? Bad idea?
