Arc increased in size when transferred to live

I'm curious if this happened to anyone else. I had an arc which I had published on the test server. It was at 98.5% of the size limit. When I transferred it over to the live servers the size of it jumped from 98.5% to 105%. I'm a little curious as to why. Did I do something wrong? I really hate to have to cut anything else out but I'm not seeing any other options here.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me. I had every single arc increase in size by a few percentage points when transferred from test to live. It made every one of them over the limit.

I reduced the sizes of two of them by cutting characters out of custom groups, but I'm really, really, REALLY hoping we'll get some sort of explanation as to what exactly is happening and if there's anything we can do to restore them to whatever thier "test" size was without cutting content back out of them.

(Frankly I just think they should establish, say, a 3% "grace size" until they can quash this bug).

Oh wow, I thought it was just me. BTW, I went back onto test server to check the arc and sure enough the exact same mission arc file on test server comes in at 98.5% file size. Transfer that same exact file to live and it becomes 105%

Happened to me too. It's clearly something on the compression side of things, as the two files are identical.

Arc name in both instances is Redoubt Operations #1: Fires over Kalago

Test Arc ID#: 12193
Live Arc ID#: 1297

The live arc is identical to the test arc except one custom critter has been removed to allow publishing and the contact was changed from an AV to a duplicate of the person type.

I know I had the same issue with mine, I had to get the all the same unlockables I previously used.

Same problem here. For Dev reference:

Test Server mission ID: 15467

Live Server mission ID: 2774

Please note that for the Live Server mission, I had to cut out elements that previously existed in the Test Server mission, to get it small enough that it could be published.

Increased Arc Size:

I removed a custom critter on live and it reduced the size enough to work.

Another example of an Increased Arc Size:

Test Server ID: 19856

Live Server ID: 5388

To get it small enough to publish on Live, I had to cut out patrols from one mission, and pare down lots of text and dialogue to drop it by a few percentage points.

Same problem here. Grew from about 99% to 102%. I can't publish on live, so not much point in giving the id.

I have this problem as well HOWEVER, I can publish my arc. Maybe you guys can too.

Instead of trying to Save and Publish from within the MA edit interface I saved my file locally even though it was a hair to large. The I went to my local stories and noticed publish was lit up like I could use it and it worked!

On test Arc is 15171
On Live Arc is 6768

My arcs all grew by 2-3%. This was really annoying as it pushed one from 99.8% to 102.8%. I looked in the text file and could find nothing added, no nbsp; spam or anything. Had to rip out two ambushes, a couple battles, and two clues to be able to publish the arc on live.

And this was the exact same backup file I had made from the published arc on Test.

Went from about 96% to 99.something%. Some text corrections (changing five "Verse" to "Part", deleting one extra line break), so it's slightly smaller than it should be at 99.05%, but otherwise unchanged.

I really hope they fix this soon. If its not fixable, how about bumping the max size to 105k? I've trimmed everything that I can from my arcs.

I have just verified the trick suggested by Powerforge, with both of my arcs. (Regrettably, this meant that I had to unpublish one of my arcs to verify the test.)

Just as Powerforge described, I re-copied my files over from the Test folder to the Live folder. On the Live servers, both missions "seemed" to have grown above the file size limit. I then chose to "Edit" my missions, simply chose "Save and Exit," and then was given the option to Publish those missions. And what's more, I could play them as published missions.

Test Mission 1 ID# 15467
Live Mission 1 ID# 10171 (This mission has included some minor edits based on player feedback.)

Test Mission 2 ID# 19856
Live Mission 2 ID# 10173 (This mission is effectively unchanged from the original on Test.)

Well, I trimmed my arc down to 99.7% by removing some details and shortening text... and I still can't publish my mission. I can test from within the editor, but from the outside page, publish and test are both grayed out.

This is incredibly frustrating. The arc works fine on Test.


And for a while things were cold,
They were scared down in their holes
The forest that once was green
Was colored black by those killing machines

I am having the same issue. I got rid of the file bloat and stand at 99.47%. On test the arc was 6527. I have to figure out was the arc id is on live since it is unpublished.

After work I gonna rcheck the text in the arc to see how close to the text field size limits I am. I checked the maps and costumes to make sure I had all the pieces unlocked. Worst case I will recreate the arc to see if that solves issue, it's only 3 missions. And I can reference the original to add the details. Of course this give me an excuse to use Leandro's offline editor to add a good chunk of the mission details. Unless a patch goes up to resolve this issue or another method is found.

Also my other Arc that bloated over was fixed with the Save&Exit trick. The bloat went away and I got that one published.

I am a little frustrated about the bloat and publish problem, but it is a new issue on the live servers so there are bound to be bumps. I just wonder compaired to other issues how large was the open test group population. It may be false total since we now have an addition test server to use.

I'm down to 99.47%, still no dice. I know that I can delete one more detail and make the arc publishable - I made the change temporarily just to see what would happen - but there are no more optional details in the story arc; everything left has to be there.

I've done everything I can do to this short of a complete rewrite. I even renamed all the ambushes with single-letter names (since the player never sees them anyway).

I have had arcs that increased in size after publication. "Lawyers of Ghastly Horror", ID in my signature, is published and playable but not editable, because opening it in the editor puts it over the limit.
