Dual Blades/Invulnerability against... stuff.

My chain is BF > AS > VS > SS, that is correct.

I feel the build has enough AoE damage for what I like to do, although I have recently made a second build focused on Sweep for AoE damage, cycling Sweeping Strike -> Sweep.

It is great for AE farming, but not practical in normal gameplay in my opinion. However, it's worth noting I'm not great at lining up cones, so YMMV.

A shameless selfbump, to end this topic, as I finally decided to reroll as a DB/WP.

Warning, ego rambling and random thoughts following.

I've thought about rerolling Nihilii for a long time since I became more knowledgeable about the game (mostly thanks to scrapper forum folks ). DB/inv, DM/inv brute, Inv/DB tanker, and DB/SR, DB/WP scrapper were options I considered.

This isn't to say DB/Inv is bad, but quite often I'd fight something and thought "I could beat this if I was [something else]." With the AE system, I'm also fighting many more exotic (especially psi) opponents than before.

In the end, DB is the part I really care about, so switching the secondary seems to be the obvious choice. WP has full mez protection, a tier9 power I actually like and much better regen. There are tradeoffs, but I don't mind losing maximum performance against specific foes to get better performance against the mobs I was weak against.

That being said, I don't think Invul is underpowered. It might be poorly designed, but I think it's just my playstyle that doesn't mesh with the set (anymore).

It's been a great ride, from having trouble fighting Battlemaiden to taking on 6 AVs solo and doing full melee STFs - with almost the same build ; and some people say there's no skill at all in this game? I guess I had some really bad luck first and some really good luck later.

Anyone still here ? Wow ! I can't believe you read all that. Here's a few more AV videos as your "reward".

Back Alley Brawler

Three heavy hitters, with one of them doing high mag knockback ? Ouch...

Very fun to fight. I was worried he'd have a low recharge Unstoppable, but actually he doesn't, and thanks to the AI glitch Powerforge discovered, he didn't activate Temp Invul and Unyielding during the fight.

Synapse

This fight was harder than the first time I fought him, which is odd as I didn't have the +3def PVP IO back then. His autohit whirlwind, being pure smashing, doesn't annoy me too much, but his energy/smashing flurry can be dangerous. He doesn't drain end too much except with his nuke, which hit me the second time so I had to run behind a corner.

Mynx

Not too tough, although I almost died once and had to pull back to heal later. Her damage is on average very low, except for Flurry and Eviscerate which seems to crit all the time.

Psyche
Video

The first psychic AV I could take on without insps... That is, because she only has two damaging psi attacks, and one of them (psychic shockwave) is used only once, when she's low on life.

This makes me sad to hear but I know how you feel. Your videos are what inspired me to give DB a try and I love it. This is the highest I've ever been able to get a char to but every once in awhile I find myself wishing I had chosen something other than /invuln as my secondary. Thanks for all the help and the inspiration.

Will do. I'm lazy, though, so I'm just going to copy and paste.

Daolong, you rock. If it wasn't for your advice about minions and Invincibility, I might still be struggling against easy AVs like Battle Maiden instead of doing that stuff. Also used your idea to use Council minions against Rommie, as you can see.

Lazy? You just spent 6 hours soloing a task force. That's far from lazy. I don't like doing the TV trial because of the wait at the end. The thought of sitting there pounding away at AV level mobs all day makes me bored. Maybe I just have a short attention span. Being able to do that is beyond awsome. Btw, what is the RWZ challenge. I've soloed a pylon with my BS/regen before but don't think that's the same thing.

"All problems can be solved by throwing enough scrappers at it."

@Riez on Virtue, Protector, Champion, and Exalted server.

The RWZ challenge is taking on a +4 spawn of riktis with at least 3 bosses, without insps.

I look forward to the carnage that you will create with a db/wp. Are you planning on soloing av's and the like with it as well?

Willpower has more passive regen than Regen does. Who thought that was a good idea?

Can we get a fix for Energy Melee instead of more new sets?

It's a goal for all my toons.

I don't think WP can push the bar as far as Invul, but it should be fine for taking on AVs one on one (at least with insps, which I use all the time despite this topic. ).

I very much enjoyed this thread as well.

I was wondering though, why WP specifically? If you're going for an AV-killer, would SR perhaps be a better option? What's the real difference, there?

SR would indeed be a better option for an AV killer, in my opinion. It's not the focus of my character, though, just something I enjoy doing sometimes.

I like WP for an all purpose toon ; it's not going to be the best at anything, but the performance is steady in all situations.

SR is close to that, and has better performance in many situations, but still has a few holes I wanted to avoid. Specifically :

- Lack of heal/regen. I'm fed up with Aid Self, despite it fitting my concept ; and 300-400% regen isn't good enough by itself with about 1800hp, in my opinion.
- No typed psi defense, no fear protection.
- Low HP and no resistances except for scaling res. Sometimes I'm slow to react, I like having good HP or resistances to take more than two hits.
- Practiced Brawler forcing a redraw every 2 minutes.

In a nutshell, I chose quality of life over maximum performance.

I was just playing with the WP #'s and not liking what I saw... do you think you're going to be able to withstand the same amt of punishment?

I'm trying to decide between fire/inv and fire/wp .. I have fire/sr, and he's great... or perhaps an elec/inv brute...

I don't see WP being able to take the same amount of punishment against S/L foes or defense debuffs, it shouldn't be even close (and rightfully so). It might be weaker against F/C/E/N too. Against psi/toxic, WP will be better.

You still around? If so, how'd the WP turn out? I just io'd one up, and if inv is better, I need to roll an inv scrapper immediately.
