Oh, for those who have the forums only showing 10 posts a thread, please use the (show all) link at the top of the thread when viewing the Scoop. Otherwise you cannot use the table of contents to access the last 5 pages.

Unfortunately due to the forum software and how the Scoop is published, that is the only workaround I can provide people.

Thank you for noticing the one error in the Scoop. If that is all you can find wrong with these two issues of the Scoop, then we must have did a great job.

Can you please translate this to English?

May I ask what purpose this thread serves?

I mean, if you're just going to jump on everyone who says something that you don't like then logically that tells me that the intended purpose of this thread is only for praise of the City Scoop and its people.

So does that mean that we shouldn't point out (for example) spelling errors, so that you can fix them?

Of course not, we do welcome constructive criticism by all means. Perhaps Snow was tired, or just having an off day. . . . but hey we all do, and for some the forums are the easiest place to vent
(not saying it's right, just saying it happens)
anywhoo, We don't expect all words of praise, and the criticism helps us avoid future mistakes.

It's gone both ways by accounts over the base forum. Some people have said that they only had to enter the base, some people have said they had to actively enter the editor (and possibly do something - that might have been the known prestige lag acting up, however). Some people have had to have red-name intervention.

Given the lead time on the articles, however, and when the patch notes came out (or were being scrubbed), the most definitive word was probably still "enter the base editor," and that's what would have gotten used (offhand, I don't know if that changed from the notes-scrub to the actual patch notes).

I think "blurgl" means "I'd like to volunteer to help with copy editing, please."

The problem is that we can't fix them after being published. If you can tell me how, as a player, I can edit a forum administrator's post then by all means do so. We just recently added a second copy editor.

Ex can't edit that post easily due to the fact that because UBB literally mangles the html layout when we submit it and when she posts the Scoop. If we were published off the forums, it would be child's play to fix in less than a few minutes. However if we did that we would have to find and pay for our own hosting, we wouldn't get nearly as much support (ie no mention in the updater screen), and I would have to find the time to set up and maintain a Content Management System. We are doing as much as we can with the resources we have available.

These threads exist to actually discuss the articles in the Scoop, yet it seems that instead of discussing the articles, people would rather nit-pick over the mistakes.

Given the tone of the post, it did not seem to be intended as constructive criticism. I did not take the same tone in my response. Instead I thanked the poster for pointing out the mistake, tried to take the high road and assumed that beyond the pointed out error they enjoyed the Scoop.

Also I was truly interested in finding out what "Blurgl" means because I can't seem to find what it means. I've tried Acronym Finder and it doesn't come up with any results.

(Edit: I've found "blurg" on Urban Dictionary, but not "blurgl". The poster didn't follow their own advice about proofreading, wanted to be understood, or was being utterly dismissive. Any way you cut it, it wasn't being constructive.)

Having said all that, I'll warn you now that you are getting really close to being put on my ignore list because of your continual attacks at how things are run and of my responses. As you seem to have some problem with me, I would suggest that you send me a PM and tell me what exactly your antagonism is with me.

The text was quickly taken from this announcement with a bit from this announcement. I'm sorry that I did not get the corrected info about bases, but as you know from the base section that sometimes the automatic price fix doesn't work.

Really? Ok, yeah. I could see where that'd be a problem.

Yeah well... that's what people do. Welcome to the internet.

Fair enough. Look, I don't have a problem with you Snow.

From what little I know of the City Scoop and its inner workings it seems to me like you're doing the work of at least 3 people. Because of that more mistakes creep in than probably would normally. I think you need more people Snow, but I realize that you can't make people volunteer. It's a problem that I don't know how to solve.

I think what's happened is that after all of the arguing and bickering on the forums over the last couple of months I've become a bit touchy and overly critical. I think I'll go have a beer and write a note to myself to lay off the City Scoop for awhile.

Hee hee, I made the City Scoop without even trying.

Well, if it's alright with you guys, I am NOT going to nitpick the Scoop, I am going to comment on one of the articles

Specifically the base showcase article, as it happens to be the main villain base of our group on Guardian, hero side Concrete Gurus, villain side Tarterus Renegades.

Hit and Run (Shopan) has done an amazing job on the base, and the pictures dont really do it justice. With i13 HR got his wish, raid pathing was removed, and he immediately jumped all over the new options, and made some REALLY amazing base changes, some of the rooms pictured in the article are already totally different.

HR really got the ball rolling on this, and then kept it going, much of the time single handedly. Our group has always been hero-oriented, and HR jumped all over villains when they were released, quickly becoming our first 50 villain, and staying the only one for several months. With RV he would often be seen farming turrents for prestige, and currently holds more prestige then most people will ever see. He was the one constantly playing with base editor, trying to find new tricks, going through the forums looking for things to try, he learned magic desks and taught us, magic doors, you name it.

I just want to sincerly thank HR for all the hard work he has put into the base, and give him a big congrats and WOOTABA for making it to the City Scoop!

What's the occasion for the extra-huge issue? Not that I didn't enjoy it, I'm just curious as to why it was double sized.

It took me a min to realize that it is actually 2 issues, Nov.28th and Dec.5th, but duly noted that each issue was quite beefy and I am not saying they had to put two together by any means. Thank-You for The Scoop!!

*were they released together??or did I skip the Nov 28th one last week??*

side note: Seeing a GM presence in the Scoop was encouraging....

Gratz!!! That would be exciting!

We had done up the Scoop, but because of Issue 13 and the US Thanksgiving holiday it wasn't actually put out.

We had enough articles for the 5th, so we decided to put both out together.

We were asked by Ex Libris if a GM could submit articles for the Scoop, and seeing that NCsoft is a part of the community as well, we didn't see anything wrong with including him. I would like to note that his article had to go through the same process that any other submission does, except that he had to get the approval of NCNC before us.

This is one of the things we were working on before the angst of the last Scoop's discussion thread. I didn't want to ruin the surprise.

Ah, that makes sense.
Neat I'd like to hear more from the GM's. Kudos for keeping it together; it must have been difficult whilst the *angst* of the Scoops last disscussion.

We're used to that kind of angst. The last one was really nothing compared to some of the ones we had in the first few months of the Scoop's life.

Hey all, we had a GM write an article for last week's City Scoop.

This GM has written three more articles as well to go out over the Scoop. He'd love some feedback from the community as I'm sure many of the folks within the Scoop staff would love to hear about their articles etc.

If you have read a particular article or enjoyed a feature within this last double edition Scoop let's make sure the folks that created that hear your feedback.

In the end there will always be typos and formatting issues etc. but I'm sure there is more focus and additional feedback we can give these folks who continually deliver something special and dynamic to the community each week.

If you enjoy the Scoop then let them hear about it, what, and why.

Regards,

Ex

I was happy to see my base make it in. I was really bad about getting the interview done. I admit it =(

[/ QUOTE ]

remember I have no time frame in when I expect to get an interview back from anyone ! I understand people have lives, and with that I know time frames can be tricky. . . . also, if anyone would like to have their base featured please send me a PM . I look forward to more interesting designs in future issues of the Scoop !!
