It was damn fun to watch though. In the midst of an intense street fighting them BOOM... ghouls come out!

Just wanted to chime in here since I just returned to Paragon City last night. So here's my intial reaction (not having the opportunity to try it out previously on Test):

Wow... I didn't realize how fun the zombies would be! It feels like more of them spawn than per the Rikti invasions, just adding more of a thrill as you try to beat down the zombie hordes coming after you. I love their outfits too Jay!

The lag is a little more intense than the Rikti invasions, but I only ran into major problems in Talos "on the hill" with quite a few players.

Trick-or-Treating seems cooler this year too, with each door on its own timer. I larger group can still camp a spot with four doors, but eventually the doors won't give out any more, forcing you to move on. Some may not like having to move doors, but I feel it can help break up the monotony, especially if you're helping those players or characters who are in it for the long haul if they haven't done it in seasons past.

Zombie Invasions, when they occur, are an entertaining kill-fest. The attention to graphics and sound effects are to be highly commended.

The increased rate of being able to knock on doors for Trick-or-Treating is a welcome change of pace. I heartily endorse a continued stream of activity.

As has been previously and repeatedly posted, the spawning rate for Spirits is abysmally low. I can understand the lower rates for Vampires and Werewolves, since they require fewer kills to get the badge. But the Spirit spawns are unnaturally low. I cannot help but wonder if this contributes to players clicking on a door and leaving the spawn behind - players won't much care to fight enemies if they've already reached their quotas for zombies, witches, vampires, and werewolves.

Likewise, I feel that the rare spawning rate of Jack-In-Irons doesn't serve any point, save frustration.

I agree, esp re: Jack. IMHO, Jack's spawn should be 1/5 at the least, vice 1/10.

I concur. I remember asking for this change last year, as well.

So far, I've been fortunate and not had trouble finding teams to hunt until everyone gets badges, but I'm not seeing the numbers yet that I saw last year. Hopefully that's a reflection of the event starting a few days early, though, and not an indication that people aren't going to work together this year to help each other out. I remember playing my Fire/Ice tank for almost 4 hours last year just helping people get the GM badges. I wanted to switch and get badges for some alts, but stuck with what worked since most of the people getting badges were squishies and my tank could just ignore E's damage and keep aggro via taunt. Maybe I can badge up those alts this year.

Last night I noticed that everytime the Zombies arrived, the Infinity server mapserved everyone. Is this unique to Infinity?

Also, do the badges come from all kills or only from boss kills? I've got the witches, zombies, and werewolves badges, but I haven't gotten spirits or vampires and I know I've killed enough vamps. Is it bosses only?

This Trick or Treating... can it be done at any doors, or ones that are specifically slated for this event? Because any of them I try it says, "You cannot enter" and that's it. Any information would be appreciated.

Starflame- You need to make sure you are withen the level requirements for the zone you are in. To low or to high and you will get "cannot enter".

Also any entry will work. From sewer grates to doors as long as they don't open to stores and other entry areas.

so far I am loving this event. My mind/emp was able to get all 4 badges in one zombigeddon. it was kind of boring though. However my Kin/elec had a fantastic time. I died a couple times, mainly because a nightmare would spawn in front of me and take exception to my spamming fulcrum shift.

The mass of zombies, and how they spawn really does give that zombiegeddon feel to it. I love how the zombies look and the feel of the whole event.

For any given character, the timers are, IIRC, 10 seconds between door clicks and 5 minutes between clicking the same door. There does not appear to be any sort of timer preventing multiple characters from clicking on the same door in rapid succession; I was on a team yesterday where we were stacking 2-3 trickspawns to get good AoE payoff. Also note that each door is a separate entity -- if you go to the front of a skyscraper where there is a panel of four doors, you can click on each one at the 10-second interval, then all four are 'used' and you have to go elsewhere.

/signed, totally agree that the Ghost's spawning is incredibly low, I'm still working on my first alt at TOTing and usually i get them all in one day's time on average, i still need approx. 4 more ghosts as of this posting. Sheesh!!

I got mapserved last night fighting zombies on Lag hill in Talos Island, Virtue server.

I'll second the folks who say the spawn rate for Jack in Irons needs to be bumped up- it's rediculous.
Likewise with the door spirits.

Apparently they are also level-keyed, I presume to prevent griefing. A level 41 in Martial, I find, will not be able to ToT at any door- (s)he'll have to go to Grand. I haven't tested this across the full level range, but it holds true for my 40+ and 50 chars redside.


Things to remember:
-Common sense ain't;
-Overkill is the only kill;
-If someone asks if you're a god, run away.

I love this event, and the zombie hordes are a blast. But one thing I do not care for is door aggro for the clicker no matter what.
I duo with another mastermind, so when I click a door, x2 enemies come out pissed off at me, and no amount of his or my pets attacking them changes their minds in the least.
Its not to bad, unless 2 or werewolves come out, 2 rocks in the face hurt abit to a squishy like me, and the others with them dont help much LoL.
I really wish mine and his pets would pull the aggro from the door clicker.

I had an easy time with my Merc/Storm. I hovered above the enemies in bodyguard mode while the pets fired away.

We stayed in BG mode, but the werewolves were hitting us soon as they came out with rocks, well before they died.

I've been having a hard time finding invasions on at the times I'm on.
Still enjoying, but i'll be lucky to get all the badges.


I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Has there been any word as to why we are getting Tier 1 Inspirations instead of Tier 3's? It's like trick or treating for real and getting 50 year old hard candy instead of skittles/kit kat/snickers etc. If they insist on giving us Tier 1's at least let us egg the doors

Timing on invasions still appears to be seriously borked. We were on from 8 until almost 11:30 CDT on Liberty...not a thing. Given that this is prime time for most players, I find that a bit odd.

I am loving the Halloween event! The Zombie apocalypse is a whole lot of fun to be a part of....But on two occaisions today everyone in Cap seemed to get disconnected during the zombie goodness.
When I was able to get back on I had lost all my badges, xp...everything.

A bit of a downer but the event is a whole lot of fun regardless

That's odd, I just logged my mind/emp in, and fighting 3 zombies I couldn't do any real damage to them at all. She's lvl 20 and only has DOs, but she ought to be able to take down a minion, right?

I totally agree with this. I've actually gained 2 levels trick or treating on my now level 30 scrapper. I've gotten every other Halloween badge except the one for spirits (even the last one for collecting costumes). I think I need 2 more, and I will probably end up gaining another level before I see those 2 spirits.
