That would be Transformers Armada, which was a decent series that was cursed by coming on the coattails of an awesome series. It was then followed up with Superlink, which was balls. Fortunately, Transformers Animated is brilliant.

I liked Armada, though I wasn't able to see most of the series. I wasn't much of a fan of the series after that.

Also, the only other series I'd seen was that one on Fox which, if Wikipedia is correct, was the one called Transformers: Robots in Disguise. It was pretty good, albeit I was younger then, so everything seemed more epic.

I've never seen an episode of RiD, it didn't make it over here. I own Beast Machines on DVD (a lucky buy at a sale from my wife - I'd not seen it, but once I did, I really enjoyed it). I also have all of Transformers Animated, which is a Transformers series written by gigantic transformers nerds, so it's full of in-jokes and references, and focuses on a small, interesting, evocative cast (just like Beast Wars did) rather than trying to inflate the Buy All Our Playsets And Toys feel of things by making every episode feature 2-3 new transformers you would need a guidebook to sort out.

That last part sounds a lot like all the stuff they show on channels 5 and 11.

Well, you get what you get for watching crappy TV.

I never really watched much television then, and I don't now.

I just know that all the shows they have always have some market stuff after one week of their air debut.

Man, this thread got derailed.

Robots In Disguise is the first Transformers series I saw, and I think it's quite good. It's a fairly jokey series with a medium-sized cast, that suffered a little from rescheduling thanks to 9/11 but is probably good on DVD.

I remember watching Armada and Energon religiously, though I missed the ending of the last one. Anything looks good when you're young and dumb enough I guess.

If you were young enough that Armada was your 'kid' series, I get to officially tell you to get the hell off my lawn now.

Optimus Prime would have been a lot stronger if he'd have had a Warmace to beat up Megatron with. He wouldn't have died in the first move if he'd have had an Energy Aura, either. He'd also have been much prettier.

50 Tankers: Ice/EM, Stone/WM, Fire/Stone, Dark/Ice, Inv/SS, Inv/Dark, Elec/Elec
50 Brutes: ElecMelee/EA, WM/Elec

I remember crying during the original Transformers movie when Optimus Prime died. I also remember liking the ridiculous '80s music... "You've got the touch! You've got the power!"

Peter Cullen has voiced Optimus Prime in both Transformers movies, so you can understand my confusion when you're referring to Don LaFontaine.

It's also rumored that in the upcoming Transformers 2, Judd Nelson will again do the voice of Hot Rod.

Ultra Magnus will also be in the movie too, but Robert Stack can't do the voice again since he's dead

Bah, I am young enough that I remember coming home from Junior high school to watch the 'robotech' series hosted by Captain Chesapeake. It proved to me that people could DIE in cartoons, and it was COOL, even if the stories were rewritten for 'Stupid Americans'.

so when did this stop being about the strong and pretty and start being about thirty year old tv shows?
