I could SCREAM!

Got home at a reasonable hour today, was all set to start pounding out the last of the stuff on my video, when...

THE POWER GOES OUT.
FOR FOUR AND A HALF HOURS.
BECAUSE IT'S MONSOON SEASON HERE IN PHOENIX.
AND MY COMPUTER WAS ON!!!

Four and a half solid hours of me freaking out that the storm seals on two of the apartment windows are leaking, being unable to open the fridge or freezer to get anything to eat, worrying that something happened to the computers, having no way to call John at work to warn him that the power's out...

So now it's half past midnight, it JUST came back on, and while thank God my computer works and my files are still here, I lost FOUR SOLID HOURS of planned video recording time. I could just cry. So now tonight (Friday) I have to race to make sure I get finished.

BTW, Leandro, repeat after me:

Man Leandro, I was looking through the comments on your video and it is obvious they do not know what they are talking about nor do they know what it takes to put these videos together.

I look forward to seeing what they say about my video after seeing those comments.

Edit: Hopefully I might be able to get something up tonight because I am rendering it out in Premiere right now with music and voice overs.

Edit 2: Not going to happen. I did manage to get all the video rendered out including the particle system which was time consuming. It will be up midday as I need to re-record a piece of footage as it came out jumpy the first time.

yeah the comments dont mean nothin just read the good comments or the actual ones that criticise in reality.So far i like all your videos ,they are all good in thier own way .Star yousr was funny very well done .Leandro the voice acting was fine i actually liked the voices.Better than mine i did all the voices my self lmao so let them criticise mine lol .8ball I loved the visual style .Man i uploaded mine last night about 2 am,I had big troubles tryin to get it all to fit in 4 min was too hard ,man did I have bad time management video needs to be like 15 min at least but i squeezed it all in 4 min .I didnt want to cut any more scenes .Oh well imma put the original version on you tube lol.the name its submitted in is CROOK911930.gl to all and dont listen to the looser comments .

How long does it take for the video to "compress" one it's uploaded? I uploaded my vid last night and it was still compressing, so I canceled and uploaded again...

Take a deep breath Dark, there's still plenty of time. Just stay focused and you'll get it done

So I reloaded my videothis morning, and it's still "compressing". YouTube took the same video fine.

I'm only worried because there was a "non-fatal error" when I uploaded it (same as last night), and I'm not sure what to think of that, or if it's impacting my upload.

I had the same thing, took me a few tries before it actually worked.

I had good results rendering out to WMV from Premiere Pro 2.0.

Using - File / Export / Adobe Media Encoder…

Video

Frame size - 640 X 480
Frame Rate - 29.97
Video Bitrate - 1500

Audio
Windows Media Audio 9.2
Audio Format: 48 kbps, 44 kHz, Stereo VBR


Once you have that WMV file ready go to GameTrailers.com and make sure you create an account with them. Log in and from the pull down choose My Content/User Movies

Then click upload, fill out the form noting the button and checkbox and the bottom for the Contest.

Now upload your piece and wait a while

It eventually uploads and has to process.

You will eventually see…
Status: #109 Non-fatal error: proceeding
(Ignore this and just wait a bit things are just processing)

Click my movies again

Status: #102 Compressing

Now just wait a bit and your movie will be uploaded to the site.

Yep, just read that too. I get all the way up to the last step, but it never seems to compress. Might need to recompile to 640x480 to get things to work, but might have to wait until the evening to do that (source files are on my USB HD). Thanks!

Mine is uploaded and is compressing. I found that when it originally uploaded, it gave me an error and didn't say anything about compressing but I reloaded the page and it told me that the video was compressing.

So I'm trying to upload for like the 5th time now. Each time I've tried, I've waited a couple of hours before trying again. Got the video to 25MB @ 640x480, and it still says' Compressing" an hour later.

This also may be due to a review period... all videos are reviewed for content before they go live.

Youtube is looking better right now considering how long it takes to compress a video. My video is supposed to take 2 1/2 hours to compress because it is just over 150 mb. I had trouble getting it down that much while keeping the quality too.

edit: Well now it is up on youtube after less than 1/2 hour. My voice over turned out horrible but that is what I expected.

Panic setting in. Only 25% demoediting done, but each scene is coming easier than the next.

Voice recording done, nil.

Thankfully, the way I'm demoediting I can just record and drop each scene in.

Stopping for the night, settling in for marathon run tomorrow.

Almost done! I have one uber-scene left to code, two mid-sized scenes to code, and one small scene for the introduction. And I will be done tonight! YAY!

Well, in that case I'll leave it as-is for now. Thanks for the response Ex. Still hoping to hear from Gametrailer before 8/10 (not going to hold my breath though). But if I'm not the only one having an issue, I feel better already.

So here's the video (as hosted on YouTube). Mind you, I have yet to do any demo editing, so all the footage was shot in-game. Becuase July has been one heck of a month (between annual corporate training most of the month, social outings, and ComicCon), I shot all of the footage on Tuesday, and spent Wednesday and Thursday arranging the clips, recording the voice over, and putting the voice through filtering. Then, because I'm using Movie Maker (it's all I have), I had to compile the video twice (once for video and background track, and again for voice over). I uploaded it to YouTube today. And that's it.

In the end, I just wanted to justify (finally) buying a full copy of FRAPS, so if I place, it's just a bonus at this point. Given the competition, I'd be surprised if I do place. Because this mulitmedia community rocks!!!
