I would say they probably won't fit her when she leaves, but they probably don't fit now which is why they are "missing".

Didn't think I'd be posting in this thread for a few years... Anyway, longtime player of COH, Champion server fan here. Just had my first son six months ago :-) We didn't...expect him so soon, but hey, he's here and he's incredible, so I'm not complaining(except when he jilts me out of sleep). He's currently teething AND about to crawl, so we're in for a bumpy ride...

WOOOT! Congarats AngieB!!

Went to Anime North on Saturday. We were lined up outside and around the main building waiting for the doors to open.. Then.. WOOOSH!!! Lyndon had Chernobyled up his back.. I dashed for the grassy knoll, whipped out the blanket, change pad, new outfit, wipes and fresh dipe.. had him naked and tried hastily to clean him up when the line started to move... I had to take him back in line half naked to catch up with my other kids! The security guards were kind enough to allow me to finish changing Lyndon behind a closed off area..

Otherwise we had a good time. Does not compare to a Star Trek convention.

Had our first playoff game last night. Went into it with some trepidation since all the other teams had full complements for their practices over the last few days and, even after my griping, my last two practices have 6 and 2 players show up. (Out of a total of 12.) So I thought we would have a hard time about it, especially since we were playing the third place team and they whalluped us the last time we faced them.

Well the boys played fantastic and we won 13 to 4. We made one bad error but the boy who made it got a chance at redemption a couple innings later, stepped in front of a hard liner, made the play at first and followed with a perfect throw to home to keep the runner at third from scoring. He earned a game ball for that.

(That was a nice birthday present.)

Happy Father moment:

Being that I'm stuck on an Army base for a few months without the family, I was really excited to go spend time with the wife and kids for this recent Memorial Day weekend. As soon as my wife opened the door she received a peck on the lips and a single question: "Where is it?"
My reply came shortly, as my four-year-old daughter came running down the hallway screaming "Daddy, I got it! I got it! You wanna see?"
"Yeah, I wanna see, get over here!" This 'it' had been talked about over phone conversations between me and her nightly for almost a week.
After a brief hug and kiss, I was handed a gold medal for a quarter-mile race that she had won involving over forty other kids her age. It wasn't a spectacular medal in appearance, but in meaning it might as well had been from the olympics. It's the first thing she's won, and being a Marine(we run a lot, go figure) I couldn't have been prouder.

I handed back the medal as I heard my 2-year-old son come down the hallway, preparing for our reunion with my arms stretched out in front of me in the universal sign of "come give daddy a hug". He stopped about five feet short of me, smiles, and says "I pooted." My wife chuckled, and I walked on my knees the final distance to hug my son.
"Me too, son. Me, too."

During my Daughters (5) and mine morning routine on getting ready for work, I was combing my hair and I heard" Daddy Daddy I am an Ant"
<Me> Really ?
Daughter comes around the corner with her Tights on her head and swinging around the legs with her hands and grinning ear to ear.

So yesterday was the last day of school for my 8 yr old. He has just completed 2nd grade. He brought home a certificate that said Honor Roll and even though I know it's ONLY 2nd grade I was soooo happy. He really worked hard for it too. He was getting 80's in english at the beginning of the year and he brought his avg to 94%. He was so thrilled!

Next year he gets to ride the bus with his 4 yr old brother. (pre-k)

Net's Family trip to Disney World:

Back from Florida with my family I thought I'd reflect on the trip.

My son's Favorite Ride: Rock'n Rollercoaster.
Reason: The donut. In the middle of the ride you go through a "donut" (much like the one in Faultline). He loves donuts.

His Least Favorite: Haunted Mansion
Reason: Dark and scary.

Barreling around dark rollercoasters...not scary.
Slow moving dark rides... scary.
I dont get it. Thunder Mountain (day or night), ok. Dinosaur, ok. Splash Mountain (day or night), ok. Oh well... suffice to say he had a lot of fun.

Speaking of splash... the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon. !!!!! That thing kicks out 5-6ft high waves. Even the reflections behind the main wave are bigger than most wave pool's biggest. My son got the biggest kick of me tossing him forward as the wave approached. He would get blasted and I would duck under the water (thus avoiding the wave) and catch him behind the wave. Physics for the win.

We went on the safari in the Animal Kingdom, which was really cool, had front row on the truck. We had to stop while some giraffes blocked the road. Lots of very close animals to the truck. And throughout the ride, I kept smelling something... odd. Zamboni! The lack of diesel smoke should have been the give away, but the driver was impressed I could make out the fuel source for the vehicles from the exhaust (most think they are electric vehicles appearently).

Last time we went, the eldest wanted her face painted, but not alone, so I agreed and got mine painted too. This trip, the whole family got our faces painted. Myself, tiger. Wife, evil queen. Son, dragon. Daughter, cheshire cat. Lots of comments and strangers taking our pictures as we wandered about. (And this is really good work as well, near stage quality.)

And because no family vacation is complete without the drama..... my 14yr old step-daughter left her purse on a ride. Her new Coach purse with her cell, PSP, wallet, etc.. in it. Thankfully we only had to backtrack 1/2 the Magic Kingdom to find it, and being Disney World, cast members had secured it, so nothing was lost... besides the time looking for it.

Fun and excitement for one and all. Lots of exercise and good eats. Probably go back in a few years again.

Good Times!
I used to live in Port Charlotte, FL near Ft. Myers. During the time we lived there we went to Disney World 4 times. It was some of the few fond memories of my childhood I have retained. (I've had some serious accidents that have caused memory loss, and I "smoked away" alot of my memory in my teenage years also)

All I can say is take pictures, videos, keepsakes... ANYTHING that can remind you and your little ones of the good times. In this world of tough times, and struggling and stress, you gotta make sure those fun trips stand out.

Good Time, Net, Good Times!

I can't wait to take my kids to Disneyworld(wanna wait a few years, my youngest is only 3). Any other good family trips that ya'll can think of? I am itching to take some leave and go on one.

Posted

Thats the problem with really young ones... there aren't a whole lot of family trips you can take because of the obvious concerns and needs of small children.

A place I can recommend for all would be the WaterPark of America (located near the Mall of America). Its an indoor waterpark thats pretty impressive and fun for all, and the hotel is pretty solid as well. The Mall of America is right there for shopping and entertainment as well. And depending on your sport preference, you've got NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB teams in the Minn/StPaul area. Pretty cheap too since it isnt a high traffic tourist spot.

Disney World (never been to Disney Land) is something that is right on the edge for 4 (when we took my son the first time), and 6 is really the prime age because by then the height requirement is usually satisfied for all the rides.

The Wisconsin Dells has a suite of waterparks and hotels, but the entertainment outside the Dells is limited.

And of cource GenCon. This is a slightly older setting for kids, but there are lots of kid-friendly activities and the array of costumes keeps kids wide eyed at all times. Being a gaming con you have to keep an eye on them a little closer but its still worth it.

There's also Origins. Plenty to see and do, including a Kid's program. I've never been to Dragon Con, but as the biggest of the big three (GenCon, Origins and Dragon Con), I imagine that it offers many possibilities
