Think we've all been guilty of creating pretty dull costumes at one point or another. My dom is absolutely awful, but I've grown attached to him and no matter how long I spend tinkering in the costume creator can't bring myself to change the way he looks.

That costume is actually cool.
It makes me instanty think about his background.
Thoughts like: Convict (orange jumpsuit) Illigeal experiment (the exposed brain) and escaped (he isnt in the prison) hit me the second i saw it.
So despite the few colours and simple mechanics used it can be a cool costume.

You heroes need thicker skin.

You might need some color sense.
There are plenty of mono- and duo- chromatic color schemes that look good.
On the other hand, people interested in some color schemes that go together might want to check out:

Now that's one cool site! Thanks snow globe (*adds to favorites*)
So you despise two-tone heroes, eh?
Then tremble in fear at Lightslinger, hero of only two colors!
There's so much wrong on both sides of this argument that it became right.
I will be monitoring for lulz further.

My City of Heroes Blog Freedom Feature Article: "Going Rageless?"
If you only read one guide this year, make it this one.
Super Reflexes: the Golden Fox of power sets!
WARNING: I bold names.
That Kuler site is actually pretty darn awesome, even for your costume design plans. Many of the colors featured there are a bit non-traditional for a superhero outfit, though, but it can easily be made to work.
Anyway, for all my costumes, I've never really used ONLY two colors; due to just trying to make things look natural, I just gotta sneak a third or fourth color in there, maybe a silver belt, or a black leather pair of gloves... Could be anything.
Lead Man: Mostly didn't follow many material colors here, other than the dark grey color of lead, but he ended up using a total of 4 colors, thanks to the red of the visor.
Unfortunately, Rush Razor's now a defunct character, but he used Gold, Teal, Blue, and a bit of Silver in the hair.
Good ol' Chisoku uses four colors in total: Blue, Yellow, White, and Black on the visor. The natural black of the rubber bending points on the armor adds a bit more of that color too.
A really old Chisoku design, who had only three colors. Two if you don't count the yellow light on the visor.
...Holy crap, I just realized how similar Old Chisoku and Lead Man look... Kinda.
Luptonius only uses 2 colors really, green and black

Oh yeah, brown leather. I forgot about that as opposed to metallic for an acceptable over-layer.

And I apologize for being elitist.
This was all done in good fun.
