YAH!
I can't wait to see what kind of contests there will be, this will be fun! I've already gotten RR up to the Atlas guide, in a new outfit formal for the Wedding on Test.
Do you think there might be Live server contests and the like, in addition to any of the cool stuff you're doing on test over the Fling?

I'd love to support live events over the next few weeks so anyone currently organizing email eventsinthecity@ncsoft.com with event fliers and details and we will post your flier as well as get you on the internal calendar.
I'm looking to pull off two costume contests tomorrow, so in preparation, make sure you know how to copy a character to test server and the two themes running right now are:
Costume Contest Themes:
Formal Wear!
Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue!
Those are both ideas that were presented by members of the community, so dress for the occasion.
The ushers to get into the event are located in Atlas Park, and Mercy Island, but we thought we would bring both sides together to party during the interim in Pocket D. We will make 15 minute announcements before the ushers will be open to guide you to the live event, at that point, it is up to the ushers to decide.
Ex
Ok you talk about the event, you tell us its a limited access (100) at a time, but where is the actual wedding being held, how do we enter or attempt to enter the actual event.

The ushers to get into the event are located in Atlas Park (near Ms. Liberty), and Mercy Island (near Fateweaver). We will make 15 minute announcements before the ushers will be open to guide you to the live event, at that point, it is up to the ushers to decide.
Ushers will escort you to the location.

We want everyone possible to enjoy this event while we can. The live event will be running from 3:00 PM PST (6:00 PM EST) for only three hours, it will be repeated as often as we are able during that time.
[/ QUOTE ]
While I understand you need to keep it vague in order to keep expectations realistic, can you give us a rough idea on how long the ceremony might last? 20 or 30 minutes? Just trying to get an idea of my chances to get into one.
Thanks Ex!

I won't speak for Ex, but during the Dress Rehearsal, each rehearsal lasted about 30 minutes. There's a bit of gathering before the event, and some fun afterwards. So although it will only allow 100 players at a time, one shouldn't have to wait terribly long before the next event.
Also, since heroes typically outnumber villains, you might have an easier time getting in if you attend as a villain if they decide to keep the two sides of the aisle even. You might even see me there as my villain Iron Reign.
Hoping to make it in time tomorrow Ex, I'll have to see how work goes Otherwise, cheers to the happy bride and groom!

The event is instanced, 100 people can get into each run of the event. Equal number of Villains and Heroes can be present, most of the Signature characters are heroic, so you can do some math in this area, but it is all based on lottery until number caps are met.

I think ill skip on the wedding and see the video(hopefully) and go straight to the party
Just so I'm clear on this... you want us to hang out in Pocket D, and then with a 15 minute warning we all need to race to the Atlas or Mercy usher hoping we can get in? Hmm... sounds... chaotic...
I see dozens of characters all swarming around the usher, clicking madly, in the hope of being one of the few that makes it in. And since it's being done so late in the day, the entire East Coast will be home from work, making it that much harder to get in.
Not to be a party poop, but I think a lot of people are going to get very frustrated.

No need to hang in Pocket D. Hang in Atlas - I will be.
And, I get the impression that you click once, and you get a random CHANCE of being "in" or not. If not, you can't click again, until they reset the Usher ... which would happen when they send out that fifteen-minute alert.
The polite thing to do, if that is the case, is to click on the Usher, then step away to make room for everyone else.

Agreed. But if that is indeed how it's going to work, then this needs to be spammed in the admin channel or something, so everyone knows that repeated clicking is futile, and once you've clicked you should walk away.
Cause I've been reading the forums, and this hasn't been made clear to me. How is anyone who doesn't read the forums going to know this?

Most people who don't read the forums won't know how to get on Test to get to the event in the first place.

Actually, I'll be hanging out in Pocket D with at least another one of my DJs. Because we're silly like that. And we are -totally- claiming the bar tomorrow night.
That suspiciously labeled bottle of clear liquid? Sooo mine!
We'll be throwing a continuing party, and likely start it all early, keeping up with any announcements on-air. I'll be moving from Atlas Park to Mercy Island, and back to the Pocket D.
I DO need someone that can fit inside this cake though for the bachelor party. Aaaaanyone?

Once a person has attended the wedding they will get a token, not a physical token but event token which will not allow them entrance a second time. Hopefully this helps to quell some concerns.
The main reason behind keeping the party centrally located is the chance for instancing Atlas Park and Mercy. If people want to wait in those areas they are more than welcome to do so, however the Ski Chalet and theme parties over in Pocket D are sideline events for people to enjoy regardless of the wedding event. Join the party or wait in line, we'd like to present you with some options.
Also something you may have not considered is copying over two characters, one parked at the usher of your choice and the other in attendance at the theme party in Pocket D. Once you hear the 15 minute announcements swap over to the other character and voile click away.
Either way we hope to have you join us on Test server tomorrow for some fun.
Regards,
Ex

That's what I'm planning on doing, in any case. Retail Retali8r's parked, I'll probably create a new character and hang in Pocket D for a while (unless those titles are being given out lol in which case I ought to figure out who to bring...).
OH YEAH - Ex? Is this on Test Server or Test Server 01?
I'm guessing just the 00 or plain version, but can we get confirmation? I've got characters on both servers right now, and I doubt one over the other, but hey. Worth knowing.

Regular Test Server!
In addition, having both a hero and a villain ready to attend the wedding event can be handy, since each instance will be 50 of each. If there are too many heroes, you can switch to your villain if you so desire, which might increase your chances of attendance (or vice versa).
That's my advice
Not bad ideas. I will have to do some copying over and prep work in advance, just so I'm ready

Ex - IMO, it would really help if you could explain exactly how the Ushers determine who gets in, and who doesn't.
Is it "first come, first serve" ...? (There'll be a mad rush on the Usher half a second after the announcement goes out ...)
Is it "keep trying until he says yes" ...? (People will sit there and click, click, click, click, click, click ... until it says YES, or the zone crashes.)
Is it "click, then wait to be told wether or not you're on the invite list" ...? (This would work fine, if people are sufficiently informed.)
Is it "click once, get a yes or no answer, and that's your one attempt for that round" ...? (This would also work well, again if people are sufficiently informed.)
Is it ... something completely different, and I haven't even gotten close?
...
Regardless, describing the basic process would probably go a long way to settling people down, and reducing the Angst quotient. Or, well, I guess if it's a deeply flawed system, the explaination could make us explode in a frenzy of "what were they thinking" doomcrying, chicken-little-esque, run-in-circles panic ... heh.
We sent out this Valentines Day Newsletter yesterday and we have had a lot of excitement and discussion regarding the news.
I'm splitting this topic out of the other one to highlight and pinpoint questions, and finer details regarding the events portion of the news.
We have some community level events that will coincide with the "Live Event" planned for the test server tomorrow. Manticore and Sister Psyche who are married in real life will be coming in game to renew their vows, there will be a host of our development team there to celebrate the occasion including Positron who will be officiating. We want everyone possible to enjoy this event while we can. The live event will be running from 3:00 PM PST (6:00 PM EST) for only three hours, it will be repeated as often as we are able during that time.
Coinciding with that live event on test server Lighthouse and Ex Libris will be hosting bachelor and bachelorette parties in Pocket D. For these activities we are reaching out to community members to come and get involved, plan, play, and party with the Community while you wait for your chance to get into the live event. The "Live Event" is specifically designed and has limited access, so waiting for your chance to get in can be fun and entertaining, but that is up to you!
What do we have cooking? So far some costume themed contests, and there is talk about hitting the slopes. If you have ideas for themes, wish to get involved, or have something to share with the community PM or email exlibris@ncsoft.com.
We will be making more formal announcements about these parties this afternoon.
In the meantime if you have questions about the "Live Event" or the two week "Spring Fling Event" then please post them here and we will gather them and respond as we are able.
Please make sure to denote which event you are referring to in your question.
Thank you for your continued support.
Regards,
Ex Libris
