I'm glad you put in this policy, it seems like a good motivator to bring some people back around.

Hmmm, Dust off my own unused accounts: Half Price!

I'm confused. Other than the "invite someone to reactivate" how is this different than the existing "refer a friend" program?

This sounds like a wonderful program. I have a few people planning to come back to the game ... and a few that reactivated right before Issue 11 went live. Free time = happiness.

Hmm.

I'll make a couple of calls, see if i can get some bites.

You each get 15 days of free time. Which to me doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Doesn't that essentially mean that I'll end up paying 14.99 for half a month down the road??

Why not just give us each a free month? Or give the person who refers the other a free month and leave it at that?

I've never understood why there's such a strict restriction on how many of these can be handed out at one time. I mean, I know they don't want us to have an endless supply since it'd essentially give people who like to reroll a lot a free account (not to mention the gold spammers), but why does it have to be so few? It's a little frustrating to ask on a forum if anyone is interested in a CoH pass, have more than 4 people interested, and then have no buddy passes to hand out for 2 months unless those 4 people subscribe.

I have a question. I have 2 friends that used to play and I would like to buy them some time to so they can team with me for the new issue. If I used these programes to do that I would get 15 days for each, that part I get but they would get 15 days free to so would that mean that the cost of reactivating the accounts only be 50% or would it still be $15, but your getting 45 days for it?

Posted

$15 dollars and you get 45 days, you would get 30 if both friends accepted your invitation.

Scroll down and read the instructions for step 6 of the program and you will get all the details.

Reactivation Referral Program

You can invite a total of 4 friends to rejoin at once which could net you a FREE 60 days of playing time if each one of them resubscribed for a minimum of 1 month.

Question: Does this free time count towards veteran time. I know the free days you get from buying the game don't count. So do these?

Because if it doesn't I would rather just send them a personal email to get them back and pay for my time so I can get my goodies sooner.

Thanks

To further clarify for the person you're responding to here, Ex, yes, the free month that you get from purchasing the game does indeed count towards Veteran Reward time. Not sure where he'd get the idea that it doesn't.

I appreciate the effort - but what would be REALLY helpful to people like me who don't trade real world email addresses (too many wierd people out there) would be for there to be a way that you could invite people back using their gobal.

It could be set up as a form with pre-determined messages so there is no possibility of abuse - but they would at least know who was inviting them back.

The message could say something like:

Hey @Desiderata! @SwissMiss wants you to come back and play CoH for a while...

or whatever.

And by the way - Desi - we miss you Come back soon.

Swiss Miss - Lvl 50 Emp/Psy Defender
Swiss Rad - Lvl 50 Ill/Rad Controller
Belle de Jour - Lvl 50 Fire/Kin Controller
Honey Ryder - Lvl 50 Stone/Stone Tank
ThermoKing - Lvl 37 Gimped Fire/Ice Tank
... and many more ...

(off topic, but this appears to be the closest thread to discuss the OTHER announcement of the MMORPG.com free trials)

I'm kind of conflicted regarding the free trials... on the one hand, they do (presumably) bring some more people to the game, but on the other they just negate all the work CS does in trying to get rid of the RMT spammers.

Top-notch idea, the "split 30 days of credit" thing. I don't have anyone to re-invite back, who'd do so ... but I still think it's a great idea.

No.

Let's say I invited a former COH player back to the game, and he re-activated his account right now - putting himself down for monthly renewal, at $15/month. He pays $15 right away, of course - and normally, his next billing date wold be the 29th of December.

But he gets 15 free days. That means, his billing date is pushed back by 15 days - to January 13th. Then, after that, it's the 13th of the month, every month, from then on out.

Meanwhile, MY billing date is the 4th of the month - December 4th is my next one. THAT gets pushed back by 15 days, too ... and I wouldn't be billed until December 19th. Then again on January 19, February 19, and so on.

Clear as mud, now?

If the free month per game purchase didn't count, I'd be out three months of Vet Rewards time ... that's a whole badge! Instead of having gotten my 24-month badge on October 4th, I'd be getting it on January 4th.

Probably because there's two categories in your account info, 'Veteran Reward Time' and 'Paid time.' I think it's just confusing for some people. Of course, if you look at it closer you will probably see that you have more time toward vet rewards than actual paid time. I guess they are providing paid time just for our reference as to what charges we've incurred.
