Not CoH-related...somewhat, although they're both NCSoft so hopefully it's okay...I just wanted to vent my frustration in a different media...

Anyways...

This will be an ongoing thread...

So, today is going into my 2nd day without Tabula Rasa Beta...and yes, I AM feeling the withdrawal...so, I've taken my frustration out by doing Tabula Rasa art...yes, I've gotten to that point...haha. *facepalms*

So here's to hoping these updates will keep me going until November 2nd when the game officially comes out...

Wait, you actualy LIKED Tabula Rasa ?

The game of tomorrow made with the engine of yesteryears ?

Yep! I had a blast!

I was in both the Tabula Rasa and the Hellgate London Betas...I enjoyed TR much, much more!

I agree that the engine kinda needs an update, but it works...and if it works, it works for me.

And I loved strikes on control points/bases...it's like Assault Mode on Unreal Tournament tuned up a huge notch.

I wholly disagree. TR's engine doesn't *NEED* an update. It's a beautiful game with a huge amount of substance. You shouldn't discount a game's playability, or the overall experience for that matter, simply because it doesn't use the latest/greatest graphic engine. You'll be missing a massive list of great games. There's a lot more going on in TR than just FPS point-and-shoot too. They've done a wonderful job on TR and I'm going to be playing it for quite some time. When they turn the servers back on, my CoV play will suffer... quite a bit. ;D I understand, Spine, that TR may just not be your thing, but don't miss out because your standards may be blinded by the aesthetics alone. That, and, TR looks pretty amazing. Maybe you should update *YOUR* stuff.

I liked TR!

I was thinking of starting up tabula rasa, Think im going to wait until it gets some reviews though.

Well, I'm happy to see that the game will have success, because it's a game from Cryptic, but on my side, I had no fun testing it.

I couldn't explain exactly why, it was not only the engine, it was also the athmosphere, the gameplay...

And a few people whom I know IRL didn't like it either, hence my comments.

Anyway, long live to MMO games and gamers.

It's an NCSoft game, not a Cryptic game, actually. It was developed by an internal NC Soft team headed by Richard Garriot.

I wanted to like it, but the implementation just doesn't do it for me. I think ultimately my vision for the game was wildly different than Mr. Garriot's, and I just don't like the result enough to play it after launch.

This is basically the same thing that happened for me with Auto Assault. Love the setting, and the idea, and the world.... but the game's pretty far from what I was hoping for, in the end.

Well, you sumed it up better than me.
I had the same feeling in fact, I really loved the cinematic video I saw a few months (a year) ago and I thought it looked really good, but I was disapointed by the result.

And yes, NC Soft, not Cryptic, if I don't reread my sources before posting, there's50% chances that I mix them up.

I don't give TR the lifespan of Auto Assault. I was all of level eight I believe before I had a quest asking me to kill 200 of "x" things. And to clarify, not just "A" mission, but the only mission I could find. Believe me, I tried.

Whew....man I sure am glad Richard G. said that TR had no kill-grind in it because otherwise I seriously would have mistaken that for kill-grind.

Odd, was in beta... never made it past level 15 due to RL constraints, but always had tons of different missions to choose from. The only thing that came CLOSE to what you mention above was in a "zone exploration" type of mission that summarized all the exploration stuff you could find/do in that area.

I've been told repeatedly that there's "more to the game" beyond the zone I explored, and it really did look promising. In the end, though, it was the LOGOS powers that drove me away. I like my Science Fiction HARD. The settings, the art, the starting weapons and armor all worked well for that, but the ridiculous dependence on the LOGOS powers put too much magic-fantasy in it for me.

Hmm...strange, I got that same quest too...but I had others at the same time that also requires killing Thrax soldiers as well so when I was hunting them, it knocked off both quests at the same time.

I liked TR too but it was a tough game to really get into. I never really teamed, much, I was one of the advocates for pushing the chat tabs heavily, in fact I said just steal CoH's GUI and profit :P

But they still didn't quite get it right and it's very tough to communicate with people, also I don't like how you can't customize the GUI, put things in place YOU want.

I never teamed either so I can't comment on that. I don't PvP so I can't comment on that.

It took a long time to get from place to place initially, especially when you didn't have the teleporter spots yet.

Even if you were high level you could still be pestered by level 2 critters. THAT annoys me. If I'm L50 I wanna be able to just walk through anywhere and not care about the monsters and they should ignore me because of my power. :P Granted my high level of armor and hit points etc should be enough to protect me just fine I just don't like aggro. :P

What can I say? CoH -really- has me spoiled :P

TR = awesome, but if all you've ever played is Cities, there is a bit of a learning curve.

On-Topic: That art is looking awesome so far, DaosX. God I wish TR was going to have official forums.

Yep, I'll definitely be there!

Also yeah I totally agree. Official forums is probably the only thing more I'd want out of it.

I am waiting for a 2 week trial to play it :P
