Discussion: The City Scoop - August 17, 2007
The thing is Bob, you've gotten polite answers to your impolite questions. Teldon did it last week. He explained how he picks people lately, and why your server hasn't had anyone. It's not bias other than the fact that it's sticking to people who have demonstrated a desire to be interviewed.
I don't have to go out on a limb to say that when Teldon tried to play fair and cover every server the same, people on those servers ignored him. They were too busy playing, and that's their right. He felt a little guilty pestering people, and since he was getting a load of requests in his inbox each week, he's decided that's the best route to take, while he goes after interviews for special themed pieces.
You can't call him out for being discriminatory when he's being the ultimate in nondisciminatory. Sorry, it doesn't work like that.
He's pretty much within his rights to be a little frustrated with you, since you've chosen to ignore his polite answers and repeat yourself again, this time trying to imply there's something unfair going on.
I'm sorry you don't like the choices he's made. That doesn't mean he's unfit for the job though, or that you're more fit than he is. If you really want to do something for the Scoop, that's fine, however you're going to have to show the ability to work with people instead of trying to be adversarial. Listen when something is explained, and bring some ideas to the table.
If all you want is a BtM interview, or if there are some people on your server you'd like to see, well you're going to have to talk to Teldon, because until he says he doesn't want to do it, he's our guy. That is talk to him, not pick a fight with him.

Also, if anyone really, really wants an interview, I'll do it. Granted, it might be odd but... yeah, ok. Could be fun, right?
So, what ascendant were you born under and how do you feel it's effects?
Edit to add - I also require the exact lagitude/longitude and time of birth. I mean, how can I know what questions to ask without that vital info? If you want to get really in-depth, I'll require the players' lagitude/longitude of birth and time of birth too.

And I require a jug of Moonshine and a subscription to PlayHeroine.
Get to it! Chop Chop!
Am i the only one who feels that, despite the softballs lobbed at castle by the interviewer, he didn't really answer anything at all? i feel like i just read an interview with a politician. i got absolutely nothing out of that interview whatsoever, except that he can give vague answers with the best of them.
softballs?

I take it to mean it was an easy hit for Castle.
I too felt that he side stepped the questions more than he anwsered them.

Yeah, easy questions. And I feel the same way with them. Dev interview cool, the questions the were 'meh' at best. The only tid-bit I got from the interview was that at some point Castle intends to try to go back and try to adjust some powers based on animation times.
This is the biggest problem with some powers, like Greater Ice Sword for Tanks, where they look alright on paper except for the long animation times. Personally I hope that the adjustments come sooner, much much sooner rather then later. I'd be dancing a jig if it could be done before the next Issue enters the closed testing phase. So that answer by Castle gave me both hope and concern.

You perfectly summed up my thoughts and concerns as well.

Bob to be honest the more people [censored] about thier server not being covered the more I tend to do the oppisite of what they want. When you started [censored] about this, there was a guardian player in the rikti reactions article. I told you how I do BtM now. If your server does not send me anything, I can'y do anything about it.

well to let you know...when companies let in game people do things like this...it gets a little bias. in other words..you'll do what you feel like whether you feel its right or wrong...which i have no doubt that its what your doing. putting my brothers (yes its my real life brother) little picture in the last one does not impress anyone. you seem to do alot of the same servers people every week

Going through the last seven issues (reverse order)
- Liberty, Champion x2, Virtue.
- Pinnacle x2, Liberty.
- Justice, Champion, Virtue, Triumph
- Infinity (only interview)
- Two weeks of RP-ish interviews... still not sure where they were.
- Freedom, Triumph, Infinity, Protector.
... the "Same servers every week?" Doesn't look like it.
And what if they *DID* do a Guardian interview? Would you then [censored] that it's not "someone important" (IE someone you know,) like some *other* servers have done?
You've been given his prerequisites. Follow them or quit whining.

. while i did not pick the person to do these things such as interviews, maybe its time to get someone else to do them if they cant get the job done. i would just like people to know theres more servers then virtue and freedom.
[/ QUOTE ]
Freedom - seven weeks ago.
Virtue - Current issue, and the issue before last (only one person from there each time.)
Gee, seems they acknowledge there's more servers than freedom and virtue to me...
People actually play on Guardian?
What's a 'Guardian"? =O_o= People keep mentioning it, but I'm still confused as to what it is.
...
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Guess I should add a byline to it one of these weeks.

Guardian?
Awful, awful movie...
Thanks for adding more Call to Arms speeches! I don't tire of reading them, and hope you will continue to add them to the paper!
You know, I wasn't really dissapointed with Castle's interview. First of all, I appreciate him taking the time to do an interview, and it seemed to me if he dodged any answers- it was necessary. He did make it very clear that significant PvP changes were not coming in the near future, and several questions that followed were about changes to PvP. So, it seems reasonable that he didn't have definitive answers about them.
Anyway, thanks to Dumok for doing the interview. It's cool to see answers straight from a Dev, whether PvP or PvE based.
Also, kudos to Protea on the Market Report! It obviously takes some time to contribute that column. I don't want your job!
Nice job again on the Base Showcase, Born2Lus.
Lastly, I want to echo to compliments to Dirtwolf for the /em Smack cartoon. Always funny and very cute!!
Castle says "character" not "toon". I knew there was something I liked about that guy!
He kills farmers (and I presume badgers) too. Yep, I definately like him!
The best comics are still 10!

Why the heavy load of pvp questions for Castle? (counting a 4 to 1 ratio of pvp to pve questions) Usually, I'd put Castle as the powers guy, so I would have figured questions about gauntlet, GIS (greater ice sword), etc, etc.

If it is, it comes complete with barroom brawls...
Other than the dodge to the villains-in-PvP question, I think _Castle_ was straightforward and I appreciate what he said.
Thanks for another cool issue City Scooperinos.
