Updated Compilation of Vista Issues/Fixes
I just purchased the game yesterday and so far have not been able to play because i seem to be having problems getting it to start. Im getting no where so far with technical support although they are replying promptly for now.
The only thing i have seen on the game is the loading screen that looks like wallpaper lol then it either just sits there as is or I get a "program not responding" error message when i click on the screen.
Im currently using windows vista 32-bit.
I have 2 video cards installed and tried it on both of them. Both have the latest drivers installed and are well above the required so theres no way the cards can be to blame. Heres what im using, SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!
eMachine - Model T5246
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.20 GHz
32-bit OS
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405
Driver Version: 7.15.0011.7516 (English)
AND
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
Driver Version: 7.15.0011.7516 (English)
btw, sorry if im asking a question already answered. im new to the forum so i didnt realize that the thread i was reading was fairly old. i was reading a year old portion of it. i googled it lol.
You want to turn OFF the 6100 (in the BIOS)... never use it, and only work with the 8400 card that is also in there. Connect the computer monitor only to the newer 8400.
did this to mark post
I bought a new computer today because my old one died. I now have vista 32 and have installed latest video drivers. But says my video drivers need updated. How do I fix this????

Sorry, but my crystal ball only works if you're in the same room with me. How bout you let us know what you bought, what kind of video card you have, and which drivers you're using? Oh, and how does the game play, despite being told you need to update your drivers?
Now there used to be an issue with the game telling you your drivers were old because it was improperly reading the driver version strings from the OS. But I'm pretty sure this problem was fixed awhile ago. So who/where are you getting the old drivers message?
And btw, you should move this post to the technical issues and bugs forum as a separate topic. This thread is not really a tech support thread, it's supposed to be more of a general Vista-related issues/fixes/troubleshooting thread.
Hey all, i have been trying to tweak my vista's settings but when im in game everything runs smoothly but this annoying warping rubberbanding issue that occurs like every 20 seconds.
Here are my specs to my system:
intel core 2xtreme cpu Q6850
3.00 GHZ
4 gig memory
32 bit vista
vid card is nvidia 9800 gx2
my vid driver is updated aswell
plz help, im running out of so called solutions and dont know where else to turn.------thx in advance
Well, first place to turn is the "before you post" sticky topic. Next thing to do, assuming nothing there helps you, is to start a new topic for your problem. You might want to include the output from my CoH Helper program instead of the whole DxDiag, though.
CoH starts up but crashes before it gets to the login screen.
I have cityofheroes.exe run as admin, compatibility mode, and disable desktop composition; all of those for all users. I've tried without, I've tried safe mode without, I've tried safe mode with. They all get to the splash screen and the crash dialogue comes up.
I've used TweakCoH to change resolution sizes, but safe mode should have negated that anyway, right?

Are you running a skinning program like Window Blinds? That's typical behavior for that problem. If so, then just tell the program to ignore City of Heroes and you should be golden.
Not running any skinning programs.

!?!? I thought I fixed that link! Oh frak, I forgot to change it in the output! The correct link is: http://home.roadrunner.com/~dasloth/CoH/CoHHelper.html
OK, fixed that problem and uploaded version 1.1.6. Also fixed how it reads the service pack number so it doesn't flag it all the time.
So, can we let this topic die now?

Necroposting ftw.
Really should started a new one... but oh well.
