Electricity^3: The Guide to Blaptrolling in I8
I have an E^3 and have been hording cash (way over 100 million) to trick him out with IOs....
With a respec in hand, I figured I would drop it in here so it could be ripped to shreds...
I don't PvP, but I build it to concentrate on End Drain.
I am sure there are ways to better balance the IO set bonus's... What are they?

Currently weightng the differences between Elect/Electric and Electric/Energy.
What would you say are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
Power Boost works well with your draining powers like SC right?
I have an Electric/Energy blaptroller in his early 30s right now and Power Boost does wonders for increasing the endurance drain of Short Circuit. I've been able to successfully drain red bosses completely in one shot with the PB/SC combo! I can drain deep purple bosses with my level 38 Electric/Electric blaptroller by firing off Short Circuit followed by Power Sink and pretty much keep them drained from that point on via the secondary effect of my attacks and another Short Circuit. (if necessary)
I've never really played the two "side by side" so I can't make a call about the advantages or disadvantages. Once you get the rhythm of your attack cycle down the fights are usually over too quickly in both cases to see much difference.
Energy Manipulation offers some nice self buffs in Power Boost and Conserve Power. Boost Range isn't all that useful to a blapper/blaptroller. Sure you could use it to extend the range of TB but it's hardly worth using a power choice for something that would wind up being a uni-tasker.

Thanks for the great guide.
Question: There have been some grumblings about stealth not being as great as it used to be. Would someone discuss the pros/cons of using teleport to teleport into the spawn and start blasting the aoes, etc? A previous guy said he had TP but no one responded. Any benefits to doing that over using stealth? Thanks.
I'm not sure I follow what you mean about Stealth not being as great as it used to be. I believe that the defense buff for Stealth was dropped but I myself never really relied on the defense buff for my blaptrollers. I use the Stealth+Super Speed combo to get me in close enough to deal maximum damage where it will do the most good.
When you are consistently dropping opponents in one or two hits defense really isn't too much of an issue. My damage output can easily handle Unyielding solo spawns and when I'm teaming there are buffs/debuffs, heals and meat shields to help mitigate the damage that I'm going to take.

5 issues later, Elec's Ancillary pool has another power. I forget the name off-hand, but it's the Tier 9 power from Elec Brutes on CoV.
It turns you into an avatar of electricity, SERIOUSLY pumps up your resistances and such. Seems like the perfect addition to the Blaptroller arsenal, especially as a panic button.
Perhaps a new guide could be written with updated info for IO sets, power changes and additions.
Also, is that Elec SG still active?

Hi McBoo, thanks for the reply. I'm a little late in getting back to you.
To explain what I mean about stealth not being as great as it used to be, I'll quote a portion of the guide:
"Stealth definitely isnt as useful as it used to be. Super Speed + Stealth offers complete invisibility, and while this is useful, it now suppresses the moment you begin an attack; this means you can no longer run into the middle of a group and start Short Circuiting undetected, because the spawn will aggro you as soon as Short Circuit begins animating. Stealth is still useful as far as powerpools go. Pick it up if you want to invis through to mission objectives, or if you find it easier to position yourself for Short Circuit when you can take your time setting it up."
I'm guessing from your post that you don't have much trouble dealing with the suppression. Now that I think about it I doubt my suggestion of using teleport would help this issue at all, anyway. Thanks for your thoughts.
I abandoned my E^3 in the twenties somewhere. I just didn't have the guts for it. Someday...

It might be, but I believe its head, Mystic_Amethyst (author of this guide) is off in college and hasn't been spotted in-game or on the boards very often.

The addition is Surge of Power. Selectable at 44 if you have Shocking Bolt or Static Discharge.
To follow up Circuit_Boy's post the group was Don't Whiz on the Electric Fence. They have a website here. I don't play on Virtue so I can't say if they're still active.
Do both stealths suppress when you start an attack? Or just the regular stealth power?
what I mean is, do you have a chance of NOT taking the alpha with stealth+a stealth IO?
