Plasma's Ultimate Guide to Kheldians (v1)
[ QUOTE ]
Plasma, Have you considered saving this guide elsewhere? That way if the forums get wiped your work is not lost.

I have a copy. You don't edit a guide this long on the forums.
But they don't purge the player guide section.
Plasma, When will you come out with an i9 update, with sets needed for the ultimate Kheldian? Fantastic guide, btw.

Well, I'm around, I'm playing and slotting up characters with IOs, and getting a better feel for the system. When I do post, I'd like to be able to address people at different levels - that is, there are people who will be able to field any set of IOs they want because they have a 9+ digit influence balance; and there are people who will be going up naturally by necessity or for the challenge, and I'd like to address when and what to get, and perhaps even how to use the strengths of the Kheldians (such as AoE) to make more IOs affordable.
I also want my comments on IOs to be well-researched and accurate, so I'm taking my time. But certainly, an update for I9 is coming.
i learned white dwarfs are capable tanks for hami agro if speced right. i was impressed by a guy named q-beam in freedoms raid a while back. he held his own!
Plasma, I'd just like to say "THANKS" for this wonderful guide! I tried out a respec on the Test Server, based upon your guide's suggestions, with my Warshade. I must say the difference in performance was ASTONISHING! I have now taken my Warshade on Freedom to this setup and am very much enjoying myself.
Not only did you help me make better use of some previously "wrongly placed" enhancer slots, but now my performance actually increased so much I almost don't worry about Quantums & Voids! I actually had a Quantum LT sneak up on me with an ambush squad during a mission, and it barely phased me!
Thanks again!
Wow, sweet. Thanks
great guide! Hey I've been having trouble with my binds. They work but on the ones where I change into dwarf form it basically repeats the binds in my top chatbox. Here are my binds.
Black Dwarf
Left "powexec_toggleoff Black Dwarf$$bind SHIFT+LBUTTON powexec_name Shadow Step$$goto_tray 1$$bind_load_file C:\coxbinds\Warshades\ws_humanform.txt"
Right "powexec_toggleoff Black Dwarf$$powexec_toggleon Dark Nova$$goto_tray 4$$bind_load_file C:\coxbinds\Warshades\ws_nova.txt"
Dark Nova
Left "powexec_toggleoff Dark Nova$$goto_tray 3$$bind SHIFT+LBUTTON powexec_name Black Dwarf Step$$powexec_toggleon Black Dwarf$$bind_load_file C:\coxbinds\Warshades\ws_blackdwarf.txt"
Right "powexec_toggleoff Dark Nova$$goto_tray 1$$bind SHIFT+LBUTTON powexec_name Shadow Step$$bind_load_file C:\coxbinds\Warshades\ws_humanform.txt"
Human
Left "powexec_toggleon Black Dwarf$$bind SHIFT+LBUTTON powexec_name Black Dwarf Step$$goto_tray 3$$bind_load_file C:\coxbinds\Warshades\ws_blackdwarf.txt"
Right "powexec_toggleon Dark Nova$$goto_tray 4$$bind_load_file C:\coxbinds\Warshades\ws_nova.txt"
There ya go maybe y'all can help me out
Two things:
(1) I have no idea what left and right bind to. Is that the left and right arrows on the numpad? Have you tried changing the binds to q and e (that's what I use) instead?
(2) Are you making sure that in those text files, those binds are on a single line? Make sure that if they take up two it is only word wrap and not using two actual lines.
Recent Warshade-relevant discovery regarding binds & macros:
MACRO: Drop BLACK DWARF & use UNCHAIN ESSENCE
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre> /macro UnCh "powexectoggleoff Black Dwarf$$target_custom_near enemy defeated$$powexecname Unchain Essence" </pre><hr />
MACRO: Drop DARK NOVA & use UNCHAIN ESSENCE
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre> /macro UnCh "powexectoggleoff Dark Nova$$target_custom_near enemy defeated$$powexecname Unchain Essence" </pre><hr />
These are macros I stuck on my hotkey bars for Dark Nova & Black Dwarf forms. This way I have a single button that drops that form, targets the nearest defeated enemy, then fires off Unchain Essence. All in 1 single press!
I love your guide, but the binds are driving me nuts. I use the keyboard to move around quite a bit and even after a few days I find myself shifting in and out of forms at the worst of times. What other keys have people used with success? I haven't found anything I really like yet.
Here are the binds I use..

Hope this helps, maybe it will give you some ideas..
Thanks, I'll try using the numpad. I'm using 'r' and 'f' right now, but I keep switching out of nova when I try to use autorun. haha That, and I'd rather have the keys around me bound to other skills. The numpad may work out perfectly.
Thanks!
Plasma Great Guide btw, I notice you said you were going to drop your shields, did you ever do that, My PB is only 32 right now, and I have a build, kindof similiar, although I have SS and Stealth, to deal with Voids etc.
When you get Light Form, I'm guessing this won't be necessary?. So probably would respec at that time?
Do you have an updated sample of your form with I9 yet, or still working on it?

I'm still working on the I9+ builds. I actually deleted my main Khelds (both L50) and rerolled to try experiencing the content again and build them with newer build ideas and with IOs. I'm guessing it will be September-ish when I release an update, depending on RL factors. I'm hoping to include some video demos.
Meanwhile, one key thing about IOs is to use multifactors to reduce the need for total enhancement slots. For example, maximized slotting for reform essence before would have been: Heal/Heal/Heal/Rech/Rech/Rech.
You can slot, instead, 4 L40 Heal/Rech IOs (one from each set of Numina, Miracle, Doctored Wounds, and whatever the other one that goes to 40 is), and get the same effect, for a savings of 2 slots. That sort of thing is pervasive.
I've made more progress on the PB side than the WS, which I think is because I'm saving the best for last But my WS build will likely use a lot of LotG +rech IOs and +rech set bonuses to try to get perma-Eclipse. Last 3 powers likely stealth, grant invis, invisibility, in order to slot LotG +rech in each of them (along with shadow cloak).
One thing I'm going to test out is whether a late game PB with Miracle +recovery and numina's +r/+r needs Stamina. I had a stamina-less build, but eventually switched to a stamina build and was glad. But I wonder if slotting those into reform essence (think 4x Heal/Rech + those uniques) would make it viable and/or advisable. I am using a miracle in my PB without stamina so far, and I WANT Stamina still, but it is definitely less painful that before - but I've got health, and that's "cheaper" than slotting into reform, since reform essence costs end to activate.
Anyhooo, going back to your first question...
Yes, I did drop the shields, and no, I don't miss them. The basic reason was: I was either in Light Form (in which case the shields were redundant if LF was slotted up), or I was changing form too much to put the shields back up for long. I did slot light form up with 3xRes to make up for that, since I used to use it with 3xRech,1xRes,2xEndMod, and just ran shields on top of it. But I find myself happier with Stamina than with the shields. But the unique IOs may swing the balance back the other way.
needless to say - great guide. Tagged in my favorites.
Great Guide, has me rethinking my PB. I couldn't wait to get him to Human Only, basically using Dwarf as another Heal and a Oh Crap toggle. I don't think I've seen a high level PB with Nova form still. I remember dropping it due to fly in, shoot, mez, to hospital. I'm going to rethink my build now, since IOs and I never solo with him anymore so tri-form might be more feasible. Thanks
Great Guide! I recently got a character to 50 and am working on my Warshade who is 14 now and following your build suggestion for tri form, and i am loving it so far. At first glance and from seeing other WS and PBs in groups as I was leveling up my other toons I never really thought they would be this fun
Thanks again for the time you put into this and I eagerly await your I9 info!
This is without a doubt the best (and most civil) AT Player Guide I have found on the forums. Thank you very much. I was able to use the gold standard build (deviating by only the placement of 2 slots to better make use of the strength of IOs these days) to straighten out my messed-up lvl 15 PB. I'll be re-examining my WS in the near future.
Great guide. I love the binds for my WS, but i was wondering if theres a way to make it go from dwarf to nova the same way it goes from nova to dwarf? I keep getting an error when i try it.

I believe someone pointed out in the thread that one of the binds is missing a quote. Did you perhaps have that?
You could post your binds here if you're in doubt and I'll check 'em. YMMV with binds, of course, but the ones I'm using go back and forth just fine.
Yeah liking the guide using it as 1 of 3 refrences for the PB I started today
What other 2 guides do you need???
Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.
I've moved on to Diablo 3, TopDoc-1304
more of a compare contrast just don't want to go off 1 persons view of the class. doing it that way I can get a broader idea of peoples opinions on each power and pick what one I like the best that way.

Very good guide. But I have found a grave error.

I'd say both dwarfs are superior to Fiery Aura Tanks, simply because fiery aura sucks.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's actually very funny. Fix it please. It's obviously we don't have a 'real' tier 9, but I don't think you've seen a 'Golden Age' Fire Tank perform.
*EDIT* I felt like my post yesterday was kind of different than how I meant to show my opinion. I have fully slotted Dwarf before in a deleted toon, as well as the powers associated, but you are right that Dwarf will have more defense, but it is by no means better. This is because Fiery Aura has more powers, a better heal, consume, and burn although most people (including me) don't use it. Additionally, along with any secondary, there is psynergy, because Fire is meant to take things out faster than the others.
Fire: Fiery Embrace, addition DoT damage
Ice: Ice Patch+Burn
Stone: Powerful
SS: Rage and Powerful
Mace: Not familiar with this powerset
Axe: Powerful and Knockdowns
[/ QUOTE ]
I have a L50 fire/EM tank, and my comment there may be bitterness, because I had to suffer through ED, the GDN, and the meganerf to burn; plus I wrote that before healing flames was buffed.
Fiery aura is much improved with the change to HF, although I'm not convinced it is not the weakest set still for a tank. (For brutes, I like it more)
Certainly, my dwarf forms felt more survivable, at least pre-HF buff.
