For those of you 'budding talents'...
WOW! .... that's impressive...
I've inclined to believe atleast some of the claims on her site. She's got interviews on cnn.com oprah.com and abc.com.
Still that's just flat out amazing artwork.

I am surprised she has shied away from the Wacom Tablet up to this point. Maybe she's waiting for Vista to be released.

i was thinking about it last night (yeah im that obsessed with art lol) and i think id be more inspired people who work hard to gain the talent. she may work hard but from what i read it was more of luck....1 in a million or maybe a billion....im not saying its not an accomplishment, but hardwork is much more inspiring than a natural talent or a gift. i think you guys get what im saying.
I DON'T GET IT!!!!! EXPLAIN IT MORE THOROUGHLY!!!!!!

If you can have little kids being violin or piano virtuosos, I don't see any reason why one can't be a spectacular artist.....beyond the fact that most parents would never set their 7 year-old up with paints and a canvas...
(...I know I wouldn't. I don't feel like having my living room repainted..)
I dunno, have you read some of her descriptions?
"I prayed about the meaning of it for over a month". Ok, so I've been told I'm a lot more mature for my age, but an eleven year old saying THAT? Its good art though, regardless of who did it.

I dunno...depends on what the lil one did with crayons and colored pencils. if they showed an obvious aptitude and desire to go further with it I would be rushing out to the ole art store for supplies versus forcing them to do something they dont want or enjoy as much....
just a quick thought~

Read the captions for the paintings.
I call shenanigans.
Plus, her paintings (Aside from sometimes being overly religious) look like they belong on a velvet canvas or some sweaty guy's T-shirt at a metal concert.
Twice her age and half her talent.

I'd be concerned about that child's childhood. Is she really having all that much fun painting? Does she go outside or run outside with friends? Her website just looks like some braggy thing made by her parents. I'd hate to be a child like her, sure I love drawing like all hell; but most child prodigys are unhappy.
She has an amazing level of technical skill, but no real artistic feeling coming through her work.
Awww she's such a cute, brainwashed little Christian zombie.... I wonder if her childhood is a living nightmare of non child-like things.
I can believe that she has natural talent. That and hard work will turn anyone (who had the natural talent) into a stunning artist/composer/musician/dancer/etc...

I wouldn't call her brainwashed necessarily - we don't really 'know' her at all. It is easy to infer that she's got rather... controlling... parents - but perhaps she really does enjoy this kind of thing and that's the call she has.
That said - I expect her parents really are rather strict; the religious nature of the paintings I can't see why it bothers some people though. Religion has been the subject of artwork since well yeah, basically forever. Despite what people may think, you can make some decisions as young as that age, including about religion - so I can wholly believe it's possible that that's exactly what she wanted to do.
In the end my concern is more about any sort of pushing her parents may have done - as really, honestly, I have known far too many who for whatever reasons feel the need to live their dream through their children <x.x> Or for that matter, keep their children from realizing a dream they never succeeded at either.
(Both of my parents have been highly unsupportive of my own art *shock* - I ain't nearly that great; but it is pretty upsetting to get 0 support <x.x>
Blagh, anyways, I guess I'm just taking issue with the idea of her being a "christian zombie" - we don't know anything about her beyond the subject of her art and a tiny blurb that a parent could well have made up. There are indeed plenty of moron Christians out there - but there surprisingly intelligent ones as well.

Really? I find that surprising.
Anyway - I think the girl may have a gift, or her parents might be painting for her. Also consider the possibility that her parents tell her what to paint, and they write the subtitles. I think it's possible she has a gift, and possible she doesn't. Really can't judge with this little information. >.>
Oh I know - I'm just trying to keep anyone from making poor assumptions (ie: "She's just brainwashed by her parents/doesn't actually do the work") It's entirely possible she does what she does, and does so of her own choosing.
It's also possible her parents drive her to perfection and make her paint what she paints <x.x>
Either way - we don't know much.

All of my relatives are un-supportive of my art style also. (except for my parents who are proud after getting over the fact that my obsession with comics wasn't 'just a phase.')
My relatives always want me to paint portraits and flowers and landscapes; and sure I do those things occassionally, but it's not what I love doing.
I could believe that she is the actual artist. After all, Picasso was a far more accomplished artist at a much younger age than this girl (a big reason as to why his adult work was so abstracted, he'd already perfected his representational art techniques before age 11).
