I had a pair on Big Sun, but have since deleted and rebuilt him, thus losing the Malaise shorts he loved sporting while fighting crime.
Back on subject, I finally took the time to update my DeviantArt site (found in the link in my Sig), and added the alternate outfits that my heroes are wearing these days.
I quite like Jade Ranger's 2nd outfit. Nice use of the arm pattern to look like archery gloves/leather straps.
I've always been a fan of Colonel Chrome's, and the new Stealth costume looks good. Sort of modern combat armor for him. (Still prefer his original the best, though.)

Well, while my number isn't close to some of those in this thread, I liked looking at everyone's ideas and figured I could contribute as well. Plus, I didn't really feel like playing one night so I started taking screenshots instead.

I realized a couple things doing this: First, I have a lot of animal themed characters. Also, I kind of saw a few "favorite costume pieces" that I've used a lot. For example, small mask 4 shows up several times, and quite a few outfits have skirts as well (even some of the others have alternate outfits with a skirt).
Anyway, hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoyed seeing everyone else's.
I really like the names Patriette (excellent pun!), Magic Trick and 800-pound gorilla.
I like Dead Cheerleader's look as well as Cometblaze's.
But the overall winner for me is Mad Cow. 
Makes me want to create a Mad Cowgirl!

Fire-Man... from beta, maybe? Or early in the launch? No idea, really. But look! No little turny-arrow things underfoot! It's olllld. (And back then, we didn't have "Hero" or "Villain" icons, we had Origin icons.)
Metal Tiger, definitely from beta. And ugly. Ew. But there's Ironik and Cuke, ready to go! They still live!
Kromatik... totally forgot about this guy. Electricity Blaster, I think.
Zot... yet another robot. Also apparently Electric Blasterish.
There are lots more, but these'll do for now.
I'll end this post with my all-time favorite concept supergroup (and I'm not just saying that because I dreamt it up): The Tanker Toys. It was a hoot to watch these little guys run around on their stubby little legs, pounding the stuffing out of baddies. The idea was that they were a shipment of action toys which had become self-aware somehow -- I forget the details -- and decided to become heroes. We had a bunch of binds and would show off in Atlas Park before and after running missions. Always a crowd pleaser. Eventually there were two other SGs imitating us. I was TT 117. Represent! (117 is the black one in the middle.)

For what it's worth, I was inspired by your long list of characters and pictures of them and decided to take pictures of all of my characters too and see how much of the alphabet I had. It turned out I was missing about five-six letters, so I was forced (forced, I say!) to create several new characters. It's a bit sloppy, lots of repeated names and costume designs (I'm not always so creative -- some of these are ugly. Mind you, Joe Bob Alien was intended to be ugly). I'm not sure how many people will care to look, but here's my lineup of virtually all of the characters that currently exist on my two accounts: (Note: I avoided some repetition, I have, for example, a Mouse Police on every single server except Champion, where I have a Mouse Policecat -- I didn't bother documenting all of them, just the two I've played extensively.)

Some notes:
*The ones with the blue hero background are new as of last night. I generally load up CoV even when I'm playing heroes (I really only have three villains so far), so all of the old characters have the red villains background.
*No, they don't all have bios. Far from it. I'm not that obsessive/compulsive. You, Ironik, are clearly the king of alt-itis afflicted players. ^_^ That said, ever since badges went in I have been virtually unable to create a new character without getting my Isolator badge...
*Agent Kay, Nature Lass, and Tesla Girl are some of the many characters I created in the first month or so after the game went live. These three, and several others that I've deleted, were female characters that were hit by a gender-change bug of some kind. It didn't happen to any characters that I actually played, and so it never bothered me that much. I've kept them around just as curiosities. Originally they looked stranger... for example, where there was no male equivalent for the female hairstyle, the character just has a hollow head, as if the top and back had been cut away. A long time later that part was fixed, but they never reverted to their original gender/look.
*I reuse ideas/names a lot. Jalia was my main EQ character, so I've used that name in a lot of other games. Plus, "Jalia Ice" is a quick name for an ice/ice blaster that I could be fairly certain wasn't already in use. Shinobu is the name that wound up being my global chat handle, so I've reused that one several times too (and my second account handle became Shinobu Valentine). I also have more than one Organica, more than one Unending Sorrow, more than one Patience Zero, more than one Promises Broken, more than one Grandpa Anarchy ... all names that appealed to me for one reason or another. And as I said, I attempted to corner the market on the name Mouse Police, but failed to get that name on Champion. (If anyone actually wants the name Mouse Police on any server other than Champion, Pinnacle, or Virtue, they should ask me ^_^ ).
I wish I had all of the characters I've deleted... back when you only had eight slots I would routinely delete characters from Pinnacle, where I played at the time, in order to add new ones. I often deleted characters that I'd played up past 10th level... past that point it gets much harder to press the delete key. ^_^

I love the name Patience Zero. Pure greatness. The whole gender-switch thing is bizarre. I recall it happening (Issue 3, maybe?), but didn't realize it was permanent.
I also love the name Stealth Nerf. That made me lol. "Yarrow" gives me some cognitive dissonance, though... isn't that a plant? ::: hits dictionary.com::: Yep. That'd be a good name for a Plant Dominator.
I'm glad to see so many others share my little quirk, even if it's not quite to the same degree.

Yarrow... hmmm.
I didn't have a concept behind it, other than as an interesting name. It started with a Y and one of my favorite songs is the Mad Pudding version of The Dewey Dells of Yarrow, so there ya go. Probably not a good match, but I don't often have a full concept when I create a character, I just play with the creator until I have a look I like, and then try to come up with a name to match.
I use song titles for names a lot:
The Mouse Police --> Jethro Tull
Delia's Ghost --> inspired by the song Delia's Gone, covered by Johnny Cash and Cordelia's Dad among others
Jennie Bomb --> album title by Sahara Hotnights (reminiscent of the Runaway's Cherry Bomb)
Shadowy Man --> probably borrowed from the band name Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet
Twilight Sun --> song by Leaves' Eyes
Nobody commented on Fidel From Hell, but at one point two friends and I had a team of undead/demonic Communist leaders. The other two were "Undead Lenin" and "Trotsky Reborn". Eh, it made us laugh anyway, and I like Fidel enough that I recreated him on another server before deleting him from Pinnacle.
Which makes me think that a topic on "themed Super Groups you've been in" would be fun. I have several characters that were in one of the large catgirl supergroups way back when. I was in an M&Ms supergroup, in which everyone had a set look (bald, full-body single-color suit with large banded white gloves and boots, white M on chest, names like "Red M&M" and "Pink M&M"). I was in a Magical Beans group, in which everyone had to have a bean name. Mine were Refried Bean and Alien Bean. Mew Skyprowler is from an offshoot catgirl supergroup called "Cat Wars: A Mew Hope" or something silly like that. There's probably been a couple of others, and all of that despite the fact that I really don't go in for themed SGs that often. ^_^

I went through all of my old screenshots (I probably have more than 3,000 of them in 4-5 folders spread out over 3 computers) and saved images of all of my deleted characters. I was going to do another montage of them, but frankly I can't remember most of their names and a lot of them were deleted for a good reason, so I decided it wouldn't be very interesting.
One thing I remembered is that I was in another themed SG, an offshoot of the SG I was in originally way back in the beginning. This was "The Izzles", and we were supposed to be tiny midget mobsters. Well, it was funny to some of the other people in my SG anyway; I liked the M&M one better.
I found before-and-after screenshots not only of Agent Kay, Nature Lass, and Tesla Girl, but also of Refried Bean and Alien Bean, who were two of the other characters hit by the gender bug thing. (Also found an "after" photo of what was apparently some tiger catgirl hit with the same bug -- possibly one of my low level Mouse Police versions that I probably just deleted and remade.)
Anyway, since I thought it would be a bit more interesting, here's the before and after montage of five of my characters that were hit with the bug:

Print Screen then past into your editor of choice....at least, that's how I do it ~

Yah i use print screen all th time, but unlike in game screenies the darn things from the character selection screen dont seem to wind up in the screenshot file in the CoH folder itself for me. Am i just cursed or should I be seeking them elsewhere?
They don't go in the screenshots folder. You have to paste them into an editor like Paint or something.
Exactly. Print Screen, when you're in the game, places a screenshot into the game folder made for that purpose... but Print Screen always places a copy of what you see on your computer screen onto your Clipboard as well. If you then Copy & Paste into a program that can display images you should see whatever screen image you've captured. (You can do this even if you're just sitting there staring at your computer desktop, you know.)
What I use is Irfanview , an incredibly useful little image viewer / editor / converter that you can download for free. After taking my screenshot I hit my windows button to allow me to switch programs, hit paste, save, and viola!

I run Fraps, its popular video capture tool however alot of people seem to forget it also takes screenies, even on char creator screen.

My Characters
I'd say you either add to it, or crop the new pic to fit where the old one was... But that's just what I'd do... And I'm weird.
I should probably sit down and do this myself. I don't have anywhere near that many alts (I don't always create em cuz I barely have time to play my mains!) but it'd still be a fun little project. Kind of like organizing the THOUSANDS of screenshots I have.... Hrmm...
Wow, this list is great! I tend to make alts just to flesh out visuals or concepts, so I have most of the servers filled with toons I never play, while I play most of the slots on Guardian and Pinnacle.
My toons can be seen at my DeviantArt site (linked in my sig, below), but that's not nearly all of them. Just the ones I tend to play. I still need to go through and put up the extra costume slots for each character...
