Not only that, Domination can now build in like 16 attacks under the right conditions. That's nearly 5 times what it takes to build Defiance.

[/ QUOTE ]

I assume that you are saying it only takes a blaster being HIT 3 times to build defiance. Personaly, I think Dominators are now a real force in PvE. Too bad they still suck balls in the LRSF.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yep, right on the money. As for Doms sucking in the LRSF, I'm sure controllers will suck as much, if not more, if the STF is just like the LRSF and multiply +4 AVs. Controllers won't be happy when they can only use a few powers against the signature villians (namely -regens, heals, and buffs). Debuffs will barely effect them.

At least controllers can buff.

Wow, Domination got status protection and now it builds faster. Pretty nice. I mean, as far as inherents go I always said "Hooray for inherents that don't suck!" after using it. And this was before the status protection.

[/ QUOTE ]

You ought to go talk to the Dominator community before holding them up as a success. Blasters are far more effective at every facet of the game than Dom's and the most recent change isn't going to change that. I held off on deleting my Ice/Em to see what they came up with, but it looks like I am gonna get that slot back.

Defiance < Domination
Blasters >>>> Dominators.

Its not all about the inherent, how the AT performs is far more important.

I'm gonna copy and paste my comment from the other thread:

About "Gadgets" it may be thats what devices is called in the pigg files, and thats why they said gadgets instead of devices.. Powersets in the .piggs sometimes have different names then are used in the game.

Or so my un-named sources tell me.

[/ QUOTE ]

Seeing as we don't play with the names of .pigg files, nor do we have unnamed sources to act as decoder rings, I'm gonna go with "they don't know the AT or the game we play".

First off, I was talking inherents, not the ATs. Secondly, bull[censored]. Do Doms need attention? Sure. Do Blasters have it all over Doms in every facet of the game? Overstate things much?

Depends on what aspect of the game you focus on really. If you look at PvE, you can see one thing, but if you look at PvP, you see something else entirely.

Seriously though, multiple dominator teams make Blaster teams look retarded by comparison. A dominator team doesn't even need coordination once it gets going and the doms start popping Domination one after the other. This will just make it even more rediculous although I personaly think Doms deserve a boost. PvE mind you, I haven't played or really played with or against doms in PvP much.

Posted

Ah, well there's the rub then isn't it? I care about the PvE side and my posts are colored by my PvE experiance. Thorizdin's on the other hand, are [typically] based on an experiance with and a care for PvP.

I don't have anything to add to this....I only use my /gadgets to blow up trolls now anyway....

Remember when the only way to get the dark servant around was recall friend? Same with the singularity (called the wormhole then I think)...now they're nice and mobile....*le sigh*

Wouldn't it be funny if they made it a hover turret?

While its true that PvP is my main concern, the reason I said all facets of the game is that Blasters bring more to a PvE team than Doms do. Lacking the buff/debuff secondary of Controllers and stricken with a Jekyl and Hyde concept the Dominator is a slower starter than Controllers and never reaches the same levels of power. I have an Ice/En at 38 and I deleted a level 29 Mind/Ice a couple months ago my 44'ish Fire/Fire was my favorite character in the CoV beta. Only the Fire/Fire came close to what my Blasters can do in PvE and then only if he avoided AV's.

You would think that by now, someone would have realized the issue with the Patch Notes and either fixed them, or explained them. Of course, I am all for Gadgets being nerfed, I mean we all know how overpowered Gadgets are. Shoot, you can't even play with the Gadget set unless you have access to their internal servers.

And dominators can do damage. So both archtypes get screwed. Buffing or healing, when you can't do anything else, isn't very exiting. I still think controllers get it worse against AVs, since their entire primary and most secondary powers are bearly effective; least doms can add a bit more damage where their primary fails too.

But seriously, it's not just those two. My blaster can do damage, but with out a defender to keep me up or -regen to allow my damage to work. All in all, Cryptic fumbled the ball on AVs.

Yar, the encounters that are supposed to be exciting and dramatic...aren't. They are tedious at best, frustrating at worst. Problem is that they just piled a bunch of damage and resistance on your average mobs AI and left it at that.

edit - while buffing/debuffing isn't exactly exciting, a debuffed AV or a buffed team helps...well the whole team. So even with it's primary gutted IMO the controller does help the team more than the dom in PToD fights.

Heh, Giant Monsters are pretty lame too. I've been badge hunting in Croatoa the last few days. When Jack of Irons and Eochai Fight each other, they can't do enough damage to each other to even move a healthbar slightly for more than a second or two.

I8 Test Server Notes:
[ QUOTE ]
• Many objects in the game which were meant to be immune to Teleportation have been made so. This affects several powers in the Traps Secondary and Gadgets secondary for players.

[/ QUOTE ]

Emphasis added.

Last time I checked, there is no Gadgets secondary. There is, however, one called Devices. Freudian slips like this and folks wonder why some hold the belief that the devs don't seem to know the Blaster AT all that much.

[/ QUOTE ]
Devices is still called Gadgets in the powers database. Once the name of a power or powerset is set in the database, it never changes; there's a seperate entry in the database to change the name that gets displayed in game. Whoever wrote up the original patch note probably just forgot to use the display name, rather than the database name. Reminds me of when _Castle_ kept calling the brute inherent power "Rage" even months after it was changed to "Fury."

I hope the change to Wonky Gunny Thing, I mean, Auto Turret, is not teleportable by TP Foe, but is still teleportable by Recall Friend. In the very least, at leasth the caster should be able to move it around. It's not like it lasts for ever and is a perma-pet.

Solo, I still think Blasters are a little safer than Dom's, mainly because of the reliable burst damage, but on teams, Dominators can stack with each other really well and I think have a better overall synergy than Blasters, since many are inherently status protected at any time, and their damage is fairly comparable to Blasters. But mainly once they stack all those AoE status effects, and mixing single target ones between their attacks, I think it can get silly from what I've seen. Furthermore, some of them specialize in locking down AV's, something a full team of Blasters can't really do.

Regardless, Blasters are _immensely_ more popular than Dominators. So inherents aren't everything.

Something you have to bear in mind when talking to Thor is that he tends to speak from a PvP perspective. I like him and he makes sense from that perspective, but it's something I've noticed.

And you're right... this is basically just another nerf to blasters. How is it exactly that porting AT was too powerful?

They waited 'till I8 for this?

Gimme a break...

Would depend on what you're trying to do and/or expecting wouldn't it? As power in the late game as Controllers? How mant ATs are? It seems like too many people want Doms to dish out Blaster levels of damage. My Mind/Psi is still plugging away and quite fun... even if she's a commie.

Well, */Gad... er... */Dev is essentially Blasters' */Regen. An issue ain't an issue without a */Dev nerf. Seriously. They couldn't have fixed this "problem" (read: Blasters using their brains) when they fixed SGs and 'Trops with I2? Or when they deboobytrapified Trip Mines with I3? Or when they further nerfed SGs so the debuff was now around 3%? Or when they added suppression to CD? Or when they made SGs trigger CD's suppression? Or when ED made TD worthless for anyone who doesn't PvP?
