Gadget Secondaries?
[ QUOTE ]
Well, */Gad... er... */Dev is essentially Blasters' */Regen. An issue ain't an issue without a */Dev nerf.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, /Dev is just like /Regen...except that /Regen is still the best Scrapper Secondary even after all of the nerfs.
I wish that the same could be said for /Dev...
Heh, earlier this week I was creating an AR blaster and I was a bit hung up on which secondary to pick... /Dev or /Nrg.
/Dev or /Nrg?
/Dev or /Nrg?
/Dev seemed to fit better thematically but I finally went with /Nrg because a) I have /Dev already b) I wanted Build Up and c) I wanted to be able to snipe from extreme range.
Guess I could now add d) I want to stay away from the type of "love" the Devs give to /Dev Blasters.
*sigh*
Just confirmed it on test: Auto-Turret can no longer be teleported.
It's our fault, really. */Device blasters were just too uber. We've been spending the last 2 years soloing AVs by teleporting ATs in front of them, after all...
Ok bearing in mind I have very little computer coding experience (read none) wouldn't it be possible to datamine what ATs are being played and at what lvl and find out which sets are well, gimped, by looking at the overall numbers. Of course there would be the factor that after 50 there isnt much to do, but it could show some sort of progression if nothing else. After all there has to be a reason you almost never see archery after the initial "new out of the box" moment.

Devices is still called Gadgets in the powers database.
[/ QUOTE ]
Could be worse, it could of been called Dohickies or Thingamajickers.
At least then people could get a chuckle or two when playing the set... then again, if you think about what it was and what it has become, you might get a chuckle or two, anyhow. Followed by tears.
Cough cough traps cough?
I think the point was just to have both(all tree, really) under one name...
Do you guys seriously think they don't know what the devices set is?

Well, considering all the indirect fire the set has taken, combined with them forgetting the name of it...
The last thing I recall them doing to the set (that was clearly intentional) was fixing the smoke grenade thing.

The quote from the patch note said: "Traps Secondary and Gadgets secondary"
So they're not under one tree and whoever is referring to Devices is calling it Gadgets.
And, yes, that does leave the impress that they're a bit disconnected from the game players are playing on live.
Because they called it the name they use for coding? Boo hoo let's all cry.
It seems rather sloppy to have a different name for the secondary in the guts of the game than is used in the parts of the game visible to the players. Seems like needless complexity to me.

Wow. Just. Wow. That like...lame. Next thing you know they'll remove Build Up and Aim from the powersets and replace them with Rest equivelants because they forgot to do that...Three [censored] Years Ago...
I would challenge the Devs to actually Play the AT, but that would be calling them out and thus would be a violation of the forum rules...so I won't do that. Instead, I'll just say "LRN2PLY your own game."
I've heard of nerfing powers that were uber, but to nerf a power that was already fairly gimp to begin with. Wow. Especially something that has been around for nearly three years, in the open, talked about on the forums and in guides, and reguarded as one of the few ways to make the power even slightly useful. Wow.

I was responding to your fallacious point that Traps and Devices were all under one tree so it was therefore understandable for the Devs or patch note writers to refer to them that way. Since they referred to both Traps and Gadgets its self-evident as to how wrong that statement was.
Im impressed with the alacrity you exhibited in dropping that incorrect point and simply pulling up a completely different line of thought in order to support the position youve taken.
The fact your newly adopted train of thought is completely specious as that the term was sourced from a database label and not actual programming code aside, if you cannot see how describing a game change in terms not used in the game or by the people that actually play the game is indicative of not being in touch with said game or its player base, then theres not much more to discuss.

As any junior high football coach worth his whistle will tell you, "seeing" and "catching" are two different things.
Indeed, I am ignoring your point, for it's obvious intentions.
Ohms, you're knowledgable and undoubtedly a good player, but you like to complain a lot.

Well, I understand your point of view completely. The same way I understand that my friend can't tell the difference between green and blue. Not compareing you two directly (not saying you have a disability), but I understand you both the same way. I obviously see things in a different light, and you don't. If it wasn't for the fact that green and blue are actually different colors, my friend would be completely correct in saying that they are the same color. The same pretty much applies to your opinion of what is balanced, from my point of view.
Damnit. My Ar/Dev just turned 35 yesterday. JUST took Recall Friend at 35 so I could TP Auto Turret when I got it at 38. I better get a Freespec out of this.
