Yeah, but that's been over the span of decades that the collection has been building up. I'm really not very productive in general. I just get on art kicks sometimes and start producing in spurts.
And while there's nobody I'd call out by name, there are plenty of leeches out there. It's human nature to want something, especially if it's unique. I've been moderating art groups for years and years and I see it happen all the time. If you say you'll do art, you get swamped with people trying to get some off of you. I generally dislike that and I tend to avoid posting partly because of that.
I want art of Melanie too. If someone says "I'll do anyone's character for free!" My first instinct is to run to the front of the line and say "Do mine please!" It's easy to get caught up in it. As an artist, it's hard to keep producing on a consistant level of quality. My arms get tired, my brain stops working, I get eye strain and I simply lose interest. We're real people and sometimes it's easy to forget that we're not just art machines to be used by everyone. I try never to treat other people like that, so I generally don't bite at those type of threads.
I know I'm ranting, but it's an issue that's close to my heart. That what happens with 6+ years of art group moderation experience. 
Commissions and art trades are another story, since you're getting something in return. Though I generally dislike taking money for my art. I don't really think it's worth much, because I don't personally set a price on it. It's what I do for fun and fun is free. As soon as it becomes a job it's no longer fun. I'm also generally very poor and I don't have the big bucks to spend on commissions, so I don't want to set high prices that will leave my stuff out of reach for those of us of empty pocket.

I hear you on that one, and second a lot of your thoughts. I don't dislike people for wanting free art when someone posts 'Free sketches!' but I would also not be getting in line for one.
And I tend to avoid art trades, because I've been shafted on them so many of them. So either something sparks my interest (or ire) and thus art, or I just stay quiet (art wise). I figure... eventually... people will have the interest to go find my stuff on their own. I feel like too much of an attention hog for starting a new forum topic.

As I really like your work but would love to see more examples aside from TA :P not that shes not the cutest little thing .
Anyway im of the same mind , I mostly just draw when I feel motivated and want to surprise someone and sometimes do the occasional Art trade with regulars I know have been around a bit or have a history of doing art trades (How I met PeP Rally )
Its always nice to see how your toon looks drawn by someone else but it bothers me if I draw something for someone and never see them or interact with them again aside from watching them ask others for art .
That being said I'm amazed by the folks that draw for everyone
to hone their craft and always wish them the best .
But If I ever do find myself wanting to Draw folks at random I think I'll use the awesome lottery system cel is using

I understand about the whole "leeching" thing. And it DOES really burn me up when someone asks me for art and then they don't even say thanks when I post it (of course it could be my policy of not alerting people when I post a chibi update, you'd better just be paying attention 
)
BUT, I was just talking to Graver about this last night, if you're doing it for free there's really less pressure on you to produce. You have the right to say no to people, or to take as long as you want, or to wild and crazy things to them (see upcoming pic of Pep's Fenris Harlock and my Windfallen ) And really, I'm flattered when people want me to draw them. Recently someone asked me how much I charged and it made my day
So don't let the possibility of pressure stop you from posting your awesome art!!! You can always say no Although I do think the lottery system is a stroke of brilliance.
Can't wait for you to post the Fenris /Windfallen piece I have strong money on it being modded due to sexist mods :P

I commission artists - I think I have close to 15 atm waiting completion, but I like getting in line for free art as it gives me a chance to practise colouring with Photoshop on the image I receive.

I haven't done much work of my own character, but doing art recently has inspired me to do more of my own characters. So I did another of Melanie, this time with pets.
This one took a while to figure out how to setup properly. Fitting in 3 pets along with Melanie proved to be difficult at best, considering the size discrepancies of them all. The picture only took a few hours, but the setup took all weekend. :\ Sadly I had to crop things out a lot to achieve a proper framing.
