heh I normally dont overly worry about where people write in from. as such, I rarely actually read what they fill in...in this case I was just sorta cruisin through the threads and it popped out at me for some reason...and yes...sometimes it is good to be white and nerdy.

Well, to get serious about it - there are a zillion good reasons for Shinji not wanting to do it; one of which is is terrible relationship with his dad (He literally ONLY has him brought to NERV because he's useful - absolutely 0 emotional attatchment); also, the Eva's are... well 'interesting'; they mess with your head.
Its not as simple as say... driving a Gundam. (Which I would do in a heartbeat).
Plus of course there's the difference between a fantasy of piloting a giant robot - and really seriously going to war... in our minds we always win; but in a real situation? >.> Scared <explicative>less for a good majority of people.
Not to say he wasn't whiney in some ways <'x'. But I wanted to explain that there's definitely alot of things people overlook about him; that I think make him far more sympathetic than people are willing to admit.

Okay, he was complaining about piloting a giant half-organic robot that goes into berserking frenzies that involve gratuitous amounts of goring, bloodshed, and disembowling of the enemy.
I'm still not seeing the downsides, here.
never seen Eva evar....so kinda tough for me to debate the psychological in and outs of one of its characters....as such, I'll take yer word for it.
....that being said, I would push his silly butt outta the way at a chance.

I told Starry that I loved the art on DA, but I'll say it again here. Star, you rock my boxxorz! Getting random art out of the blue is probably the coolest thing in the world for me. It always means a little more when you didn't directly ask for it, or put your name in a hat full of other people for it. It was simply given as a selfless act. For that I love you Star.
