Tidbits and Trivia ((OOC))
Hmmm, well I created my kid samurai character years ago when I drew comics in junior high which is who Ian is based off of. Way back then, that character was actually bad and killed people mercilessly and had psychic powers. When I remade him in CoH, instead of having psy powers I altered it to predicting an enemy's attacks and dodging them(SR) then just cut out the whole psychic bit and just made him really good at dodging. In the forum RPs, I added elemental powers to give some spice to him during battles then later thought up his techniques(names used from CoH katana power set) and combination techniques and decided to downplay the elemental powers.
Jase I thought up after thinking of Ian's katana techniques and made him into the samurai-kid that I created years ago(a psychic/telepathic sword wielder). They would have the same techniques(i.e. both using katanas) but instead of elemental attacks he would use negative energy attacks. Then I decided to just cut all that out because it would be repetative in an RP and designed him closer to a Spines/Dark Armor stalker but instead of using spines, used shuriken/kunai/other throwing weapons. He kept the telethapy but lost the psy so he ended up more ninja-like rather than evil psy samurai.
That's just how I settled on each of those characters' powers. Their backstories were a nightmare of inconsistancies and probably still are.
Mweeheeehee! </lite kefka laugh>
Every character I have mentioned/introduced in Tharomar Enterprises is based off a real person. :3

Anna has gone through several incarnations. She's been a Dark/Dark Defender, Dark/Dark Scrapper, and Martial Arts/Dark Scrapper but none of them fit. I was totally thrilled when CoV beta came and I rolled her up as a Dark/Fire Brute, the powers fit like a glove.
Anna's not a drama-[censored], but her backstory was always meant to be somewhat tragic. The only thing I keep adjusting is her balance between good and evil.
Her crush on Shiro began as a running joke. The two characters exist on the same server and have been on the same team a number of times. The rest is history.
The Maltans I had planned from the start - Standard paramilitary goons, basically. Same with Prikker - Slept in a Crey's Folly Greenhouse. I couldn't decide what to do with Snikker, but I eventually decided the Council did experiments on him.
Lol, I've got way too much to tell, so I'll spare the lengthy stuff and make this actual tidbits.
My first super hero I ever created was Jaredman, who was based off of my best friend and starred in several five frame comics I made in my middle school assignment books.
Billyboy became Jaredman's sidekick in seventh grade when I wanted to throw in a character based off me. His powers were similar to Jaredman's, which were super generic, but he was also insanely popular and could fire dark attacks through his sunglasses.
Podo is based off a figure in a miniatures game called Mage Knight. Podo is the weakest figure in the game, starting off without being able to attack and dying after taking three hits.
The original antagonists of my Jaredman comics were the minions of Games Workshop.
Dr. Phillis was originally created to be someone I could blame my computer's terrible spyware problems on. He was a personification of the things I hated on the computer, and he somehow evolved into a character with a deep storyline.
Journey Man exists only because I threw on a bunch of random things and went to a super hero costume party two weeks ago, then gave myself a name and a backstory as quickly as I could. I ended up liking him and made him into a character, and now he's in A Simple Game.
The original city of Billyboy's origin was going to be Fort Wayne, Indiana, which is where I live, but after realizing how boring that would be I created an entirely new city.
The only people in RL who know about my stories are my father, my brother, and the guy I based Jaredman off of.
Hallucinogen was a fairly normal hero to begin with, apart from his appearance being entirely illusionary. One day I decided that he didn't know where he had come from, who his parents were, or if he even had them. Apparently this started some sort of avalanche, because those are only half the poor guy's problems now.
Schizophrenias, obviously, contributed to this. He was concepted essentially as he is today. I was unsure of whether the Thorns powerset would fit him, but nothing else did what I wanted in the Dominator secondaries. And I warmed up to it pretty quick.
I wanted his name to be Schizophrenia, and it was on Test. But that name was taken on live. Thus, I figured, what the heck. . . I'll add an "s" to the end.
When I was planning out an Electric/Electric Brute and trying to reserve a name which was not already taken, one of the few names was Cathode. Then I thought "what the hell? I don't have a catgirl villainess yet" and used the name Kathode instead and gave her a tail and kitty ears.
Why is it spelled with a K anyway? Because Kathode's real first name is Kathryn.
I'd like to state, for the record, that I like that final "S" in Schizophrenias. It makes him more three dimensional, and implies that he's many different levels of CUH-RAY-ZEE.
Then there's Kreigg...
Kreigg I kinda visualized as a joke at first. Basically, just a guy whose entire life is a string of random beatings, along with being sent flying and crashing into things over and over again.
His original powers were going to be Invulnerability/Fire Melee, Tanker. That was before I redesigned him for Alien Only Inn, where he became an insect-like, cranky lava monster, constantly complaining about the cold.
Then I figured that if he was so cold he wouldn't waste heat on fire-based attacks, and switched to Super Strength. Then I wanted to preserve the flavor of his lava-world upbringing, so I figured Stone-Armor would do the trick.
Though, technically, Kreigg is a Brute in terms of the RPs he joins, in m heart of hearts he remains a tank, and his primary power is his indomitable will to keep going, no matter how savage the beating he receives.
YAY FOR KREIGG!
*Rosie waves pom-poms*
Oh, and that reminds me.
Rosie came from me and my boyfriend and my best friend's desire to make a story/cartoon/comic that was a fusion between Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice, and CSI. 'Rose' is my middle name, and Rosalind is my mirror character. Her partners, Emry and Pherelith, are my boyfriend and my best friend.
You'd never know it, but Rosie's the cheerful, uplifting one when she's around Emry and Phe.

Great, now I have to join this discussion. However....what can I say?
Well, let's start with good old Ghoulie. The Ghoulmeister originated from my brother, who wanted to make a brute in CoV. Since his screen name has always been Noxious Ghoul, he likes the undead as much as I do, and he asked me for help making his new brute, Brutish Ghoul was born.
He wanted a zombie that could take hits and beat crap up, so we decided on Invulnerability and, after a length discussion, Dark melee because it seemed awesome. Then we got onto the costume and the origin. Since we already had lots of Tech and Magic oriented people, we decided on Science just for the hell of it. I then expanded Ghoul's storyline because I was bored and had the time.
Originally, Ghoul had those bio-thingie pants but seeing Essex draw him with normal pants made me decide that they looked better.
Anyway, enough of me talking. Let's talk about someone else.
Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.
Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.
NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.
Experiment has had SO many backstories over the years I have been playing CoH.
I actually randomly came up with the name, thinking "Oh, I will just delete him like I did my others. I don't care." Which explains the lack of a capital E ingame.
Well, at level 20, I kinda got that I was hooked on the character. However, his powers made no immediate sense to me... So, I decided, since I made him mutant origin, he had powers of darkness and a mutant power to create spines!
Oh, wait, that is taken, huh...
Then, I decided to think of him as Science, saying he gained his darkness and spines from experiments, explaining the name.
That idea kinda sucked.
Magic didn't work until later, thinking about what his dark powers would create if strengthened, and Natural made absolutely no sense.
Instead, I went for Mutant, Science, Natural, and Technology all at once.
Mutant, the dark powers were weak, before the Science, when he was able to create spines and strengthen his shielding thanks to a few early tests for Crey's Paragon Protector project, hence the Experiment 2.0 name.
Natural, he can fight. Not very well, mind you, but he knows basic self defense, and is pretty damn acrobatic, as shown by his almost constant jumping and rolling in battle.
His Tech was from his later developed 'advanced mind', which allowed him to get out of Harvard at the age of 15!
...Of course, since then, his intelligence has deteriorated, but that is neither here nor there.
It took me until about three months into City of Villains to start thinking of his enemies...
I swear, I think they were already created somewhere in my head, because I immediately had concepts, costumes, pasts, bio's, of a few different characters. Three of them are (partly) already known.
Experiment 3.0 had a brief and fruitless cameo in GoCC, Blind Messenger is starting to come together in two of them, and the last one is the mastermind of MotM, which appears to have died slightly.
However, you people do not yet know the last two... Hehe...
Oh boy let's start easy and work to the more complicated guys:
Sakura/Miyu was created exclusively for AH101 and has developed since then.
Leo has been a character in my own stories for a while, but lacks depth still to this day.
El Guapo Grande I created purely as a joke one day in CoH, but I loved the idea so much I ran with it. He's a luchadore, a really simple character that fits in almost anywhere.
Bright Star/Tara Mason was created as an homage to Superman/Supergirl/Powergirl
Sae and Chihaya were created for the Battle For Tokyo RP.
Sacred East Wind/Asuka Tendou was one of my original villains. She's gone through quite a few changes, including a bit of a retcon at lvl 30. She was originally just an assassin, but then I created a new backstory (and name) involving her being 'erased' from Arachnos files, along with her teammates (only one of which has made an appearance- Shiomi Izuhara/Blessed West Wind). In reality she's a tech stalker, but story-wise she's got the whole package of origins.
Tenryuu Reishi I came up with five years ago, basing her appearance off of Hitomi from Dead or Alive. She's pretty much a paragon of physical training in addition to her natural born regeneration abilities.
Kagura was created for the Twin Temples RP.
Nicholas Sarder...ok this guy has a long history. He's been everything from a secret agent, to a High School English teacher living in Japan. He's also had different personalities as well. At one point happy-go-lucky, then brooding, then a strange merger of the two. He's had kids, no kids, adopted kids, clones of himself, etc. He's been married to at least a half dozen girls too.
Hyoumura Ryuji's design is based loosely off Tetsuo from Akira and Killua from Hunter x Hunter
. . . This reminds me.
To this day I am unsure if Hallucinogen should really be of Mutant origin. Yes, his powers technically come from a mutant gene. . . the radiation powers, anyway. . . but then there's all the hope and light and soul rigamarole. And he was created, not born. . .and how he was created just confuses things more.
. . And no, I'm not telling you. Shut up.
The Secret, Ancient, Undisclosed-Until-Now OOC Origins of Sir Morgant:
Sigh. I'm really, REALLY tired of constantly making chars and deleting them. I can't find one that sticks with me...there's always something wrong with them. (Note: I had CoH for one year, and I was depressed since I hadn't a main character. All the chars I had so far annoyed me to no end for some reason, and ended up in the delete bin)
Come on, Nick. Think. Think. Think. There's gotta be some way you can make a character you really like.
Well. Let's see. Lemme run through the things I DO like.
I like guns. LOVE guns, actually. Love them with a passion. Shooters are my favorite for a reason. Nothing quite finer than hearing a buddabuddabudda.
I like martial arts combat. Whack, krakow, fisted, pow pow pow. Kung-fu action at it's extreme. I'm particularly fond of the fist-using arts. Punching for the win.
I like medieval stuff. Knights, paladins, honorable heroes, valor, stuff where a generic hero punches the bad guy to cheesy music while everyone cheers in the background.
Okay. Those are things I like. If I manage to mix them all together SOMEHOW, I might find a character I can keep.
Now, how to combine them...
Jing Lei, was the first character I ever made in CoH way back when the game released(during my 1 month of free subscription). She was suppose to be a monk like those from Final Fantasy XI(MA/SR) but I quickly deleted her when people began hitting on me in-game(I blame myself for giving her big boobs). I replaced her with a male MA/SR that I randomly called Tiger-Fang which is the name I gave Ian's sword later in the forums.
I've since then reimagined Jing Lei as a younger(same age as Ian) female martial artist character but I've decided not to actually make her until Defenders can use martial arts and debuff people with her fist.
Hyun-ki was suppose to be Ian's sensei when I created him but when I thought of giving Ian elemental sword skills, I made another character called Ryjuta after that one guy from Rurouni Kenshin(Raijuta) who uses that wierd skill of cutting people with air which I copied and dubbed "Falcon Wing". Since then I altered Hyun-ki and gave him different powers, personalities and changed his age from "being old and wise" to "a few years older than Ian but still wise". Oh, and the name Hyun-ki means wise in korean which is where his family originates from.

Uh, not to nitpick or anything but...
Back when the game was released, you had no option to alter a character's proportions...
Hmm... most of the characters I bring into RPs here were all alreay pretty well developed 'out of the box' as it were. I would tinker on my hero builder and come up with powersets I was curious on. Then I would hatch up a backgroud for them before pluging it all into the game and working a costume (mostly) on the fly. The name was usually the sticky part. :/
Nightrayne is character who's undergone the greatest amount of change since being brought into SH101. If you read the inital posts, her 'speach' was very normal. I was still developing her in game personality when I brought her into that one, when it was finally nailed down, I 'imported' the completed personality into SH101 and pow... heads exploded trying to make sense of her words.
As for my others... Mira Misaki is/was a fairly random experiment with the new thug set, she has since, been deleted off my account, but may be remade on another sever someday.
Tam Khat... She's my fun character. Energetic past the point of hyperactive. Lesbian and making absolutly no attempt to hide it. Mostly upbeat and silly, she my smile and giggle character.
Kei/Lightarrow... a fairly recent idea mostly brought about by playing Warcraft 3 one day while waiting for my internet connection to come back. Nightelves for teh win!
AJ... :oints at Essex:: Her fault! All her fault!
(And speaking of Essex...) Stellarmare... Where Rosie is your reflection, Stell is an outright Mary Sue. I intentionally waited until I had a kheld before pluggin myself into the game, and was not remotly disapointed. Her back story is twecked slightly to fit in game, but she has my name and attitude.
Revanchee... my first villain and favorite of them, however I never managed to come up with a backstory for her. She is being developed almost totally in Crown of Thornes. :/
Cortianna... ... ... Honestly I have no clue where she came from.
Obsidian Song/Cali... Cali and the Kings Row PD Cape and Cowl division from A Simple Game is taken whole sale from her Pinnacle SG where she exists and works with several other RPers.
After-Image... started as a half formed idea that finally found fertile soil when I heard a RPC member on Protector asking if any of us on Pinn were interested in a Victorian-era/Silver Age theme SG. Shortly there after, the ghost girl was make and haunting Hellions in Atlas.
Rad Spike... my Russian hero is another very recent creation. (not even a week old) so she is still undergoing personality modifications. ::hides several sharp and pointy tools behind her back::

Well if that's the case, I don't need to blame myself but I didn't want to sound self rightous and blame everyone else. I gotta make myself seem nice at least 0.1% of the time.

Heh, I deliberately set all my girls down to the lowest setting so that they look somewhat realistic. Anna's fine for a girl who is supposed to be 19 but Cobalt is still a bit too well endowed for a 16 year old, even with the breast slider on the lowest setting.
I just find it amusing that, by default, women have DD jugs, gigantic hips, and a corset waist.
LoL.

(Yeah, I totally feel like a heel for that one))
It seems to me that we all have a lot of characters running around all sorts of different threads, and if you're like me then you put a lot of thought into them; Much of which never sees the light of the forum.
Well, instead of lamenting the lack an appropriate venue to share your creative thoughts and processes, I thought maybe we could make a discussion about it.
For instance;
When I make a new character it almost never turns out right the first time. It goes through layers of backstory development and power exploration that often means I re-make it from the ground up half a dozen times or more. Sometimes playing in game til the mid teens, then deleting and starting over to get the right feel -- even going so far as to change ATs completely.
For instance, Helper, the Kinetics/Electricity Defender I play in several RPs actually started off as an Energy/Electricity Blaster.
Maybe it's not the most interesting thing in the world, but please feel free to add your own tidbits and trivia ^_^
