Tidbits and Trivia ((OOC))
Hehe. Yeah, Gunslingers are nasty, but ALL the Malta units are nasty, except Herc Class Titans.
And I love fighting Malta too. I hate groups where you can just go "CHARGE!" and run in randomly and win. Although I can get scarily close to managing that with Hal. . . if running in is equivalent to "summon Phantasm, buff, put on defensive toggles, summon Decoys in middle of mob. . ."
But it's not like it's hard when you've been doing it all game.
And Sky Raider FFGs suck, yes.

OO.. Malta... the first time Soul runs into those guys...
"Sap THIS." as she casts fully-SO'd-for-end-drain Transference on the Sapper....
Speaking of Soul... I was.. messing around with the character / costume generator... and I decided, yanno... wouldn't it be cool to have a kinetic defender... that was a big Don Cornelius fan? And.. it kinda snowballed from there.
Unfortunately that wasn't the last time I went playing with the costume generator... 22 alts later... yeesh...
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
Hmmm, let's see. The tidbit of tidbitiest trivia about my characters. I don't know why I'm sharing this but I'll do it anyway, maybe because I trust you and love you all....nah, I still hate every one of you guys .
Ian is heterosexual(I'm sure we all knew this) and Jase is...well, not heterosexual but has feelings for Ian all the same. I made them this way for a special reason, because it is, essentially, the love story that is my life in highschool. I am like Jase and there was someone special to me, who is now just a friend, in highschool that I expressed my affections to. We became friends and stuff but in the three years I met him in HS, he didn't return the same feelings which I sort of knew would never come.
So, in short, those two are a testament of a relationship that can never work like the one I have put behind me.
WOOOOO! I won the Tidbits and Trivia showdown! No one can out do me! I'z iz the greatest!
*takes his official T&TOOC trophy*
Blah, you would THINK so!
Experiment is almost a carbon copy of me, but I lack the intelligence. I am clumsy, love tech, hell, if he were younger, he would probably look just like me, and he slings out what he believes are witty one-liners and jokes half the time he is 'onscreen'. However, he ALSO knows when his jokes suck, much like myself.
His need to protect his friends and stop evil-doers is an exagerated version of my own beliefs. If my friends are having trouble, I will help them in any way necessary, as well as stop anyone from committing crimes, if possible.
Yes, that DOES mean I have super powers!
...Okay, maybe we have a FEW differences...
...darn.

Ack! You fiend!
Lol, well, Billyboy is a bit of a personification of the side of me that was so confused during middle school and early high school. He's basically based on what I thought was cool when I was younger, and he's a huge follower. He's basically a huge character flaw. He'll do whatever makes people like him because he's that desperate, he's arrogant and stuck up, and he's willing to change himself if it makes him look better to the other popular people. Of course, we haven't seen a lot of that at Golden Eagle yet, but don't doubt that it's bound to happen. He tends to take others opinions instead of his own when it comes to peers, because he doesn't want to disagree if it would mean his reputation. All in all, he's someone that I really wouldn't like, but is a lot of fun to right about and develop.
Dr. Phillis is based on me as well, but he's the most biased parts of me. There are times when I've been so angry I just take a standpoint that is way too radical, and my evil genius represents that. I just use to show frustration at the world, and being sick of doing things the "right" way all the time. He's good stress relief to write about, actually.
I'anno, I still think Ian wins. XP
My characters are all how I react to other people.
Essex is really the most prevalent component of my nature - it allows me to combine my computer nerd with the tendency I have to incessantly mother and worry about my friends.
Rosalind is my fun-loving, careless, and smexy side that just wants to go out and have a blast without worrying about anything. She also embodies my tendency to kind of wig out when I'm overwhelmed by a lot of things at once. ((You know this is happening in AIM when I start talking in capital letters and screaming about how 8 people are IMing me at once. <_<)
Vanessa - who actually came from a Legend of Zelda and then a Transformers RP (I'm a sad and lonely person) - is my obligatory mad scientist. Her character has REALLY evolved, though. She's the part of me who really likes to show off. XP
Peng Na-li is kind of my self-verification as a big sister. XP She and Peng Wei-li are based off me and my little brother. The two of us are really, REALLY close. (Makes me sad that he's in college now and doesn't need me any more. T_T) Since she got killed by the Tsoo because she got caught talking to Longbow - trying to save herself and her brother from a life under Tub Ci - Peng Na-li is kind of like... my vanity in representing that I'd die for my brother without hesitation.
XP I'm vain.

I wouldn't say that, Ess. It seems to me that the characters we stick with the most are characters that are personifications of any side of us, be it good or bad.
Maybe that's why I don't have any actually "evil" villains that I've stuck with, because I hate evil that much.
Anyway, since Kai's gonna be used in the Bad Company RP, I might as well give random facts about him.
In terms of RPed power, Kairaishi and Virelai are arguably my most powerful characters. The former's power is a nod to irony, considering how physically weak he is--he relies entirely upon gadgets, manipulation, intelligence, technology, and cheap tricks for his power. Virelai relies sheerly upon training, determination, her racial advantages, and instinct.
To fully represent Kairaishi's power in-game, I'd need to make a Archery/Dev Blaster, a Claws/SR Scrapper, a Ninja/TA Mastermind, and a Ninja Blade/Energy Aura Stalker. And I'm not sure about the /SR part on the Claws/ Scrapper--but he definately has claws that he keeps hidden in his gauntlets.
I already have the MM and Stalker.
Against a trained martial artist in a fair fight, Kairaishi would be toast. His body is so weak it would likely be crippled in a single blow, and his strength is so pathetic that any attack he would deliver would likely have the power of an 8-year-old's tongue slapping against a shin.
Fletcher Trudeau, Kairaishi's body, is British. There are moments in which Kairaishi slips into the english accent, or says phrases from their culture.
Kairaishi is a master of numerous martial arts and weaponfighting arts, having plenty of time to study them throughout his entire life as an oni. Though his body is incapable of using any aside from iaidojutsu and karasuhebi shikon, his knowledge is put to plenty of use via his ningyo.
Though he often delves into japanese mysticism for inspirations of his abilities, weaponry, and powers, everything he can do is purely technological. There is NOTHING the LEAST bit supernatural about what he can do.
Kairaishi has an official hero license and is registered with Freedom Corps, though he has yet to use it.
Kairaishi is more neutral than evil, but he is quite capable of swinging either way. Due to the ancient Aka Oni at first being a benevolent protector of humankind, he refuses to kill people outright unless he feels they deserve it, or is ordered to from someone he respects as a higher authority. His only goal in life is to have as much fun as he possibly can, to do whatever pleases him--sometimes his hedonistic attitude has him doing wicked or virtuous things. He has a respect for heroes who find pleasure and happiness in simply helping other people (he says that they have figured out an aspect of life he has always been puzzled with), and is genuinely confused by the motivations of those who wish to reform him--he says that he would never interfere with their desire to be good; it's just that he "goes to the other shop".
Kairaishi thinks the number of ninja and samurai in both Paragon and the Rogue Isles is abso-freakin'-lutely hilarious--especially since 90% of them aren't anywhere near what ninja or samurai are supposed to be. He likes to make fun of them at repeated intervals, primarily by pretending to be one. He considers any ninja or samurai or anyone who claims to delve into eastern martial-art concepts to be free game as the butt of his jokes. And he will continue unless they gain his respect.
His AS phrase as a Stalker is "I am the doctor of stabbingility now. I operate by stabbity stabbing. Now, hold still, you require a stabbing operation. This is going to hurt terribly."
He has numerous Placate phrases. His favorite is "This is not the ninja you are looking for."
Kairaishi, for the most part, is very nonchalant, due to his lazy nature. There are three ways, however, to piss him off beyond recovery. 1: Act superior to him, 2: Blindly insist that he's absolute evil and needs to be brought to justice, and 3: Betrayal, of himself or of anyone.
Kairaishi loves jazz and blues music.
Almost all of his crimes are cybercrimes, thanks due to his amazing hacking ability. He is guilty of very few actual physical crimes--most of his thievery is from, well, other thieves, and all of his attacking has been done in self-defense or against other criminals.
Kairaishi has a hate/love relationship with the Tsoo. He admires their martial arts and dedication to their mysticism, as well as all of the different types of fighting styles and nifty tricks that they've used.
But, on the other hand, they hate him, so that puts a damper on their relationship.
Kairaishi thinks pirates are badass.

That's a habit I have also, which is why the majority of my characters are based on the "Huge" model. I'm a big guy with broad shoulders... Oh what the football coaches tried to do to recruit me in High School! *reminisces and laughs a little* Sadly (for them) I wasn't interested in anything but freeweights back in those days. (In respone to "Kefka who?" Borrowed from Wikipedia, edited down for relevance)
Kefka Palazzo, Final Fantasy VI's primary antagonist. was the first volunteer for an experimental Magitek infusion. The process was flawed, and although Kefka gained the ability to use magic, it shattered his sanity, making him brutally misanthropic and nihilistic. He is the right hand man of Emperor Gestahl, whose orders Kefka carries out with an almost maniacal zeal, running afoul of the [heroes] on multiple occasions. He is also a rank coward, running from almost all in-game fights involving him, or employing Imperial Soldiers or illusions to fight for him.
Most previous videogame villains (before Kefka), acted as distant, monstrous, and shadowy figures, who often were devoid of much hint of character or personality trait beyond that of autocratic, tyrannical, brutish, and cruel archetypes they were meant to embody. Kefka, on the other hand, was forced to scheme, manipulate, face and overcome challenges to achieve his power, and demonstrate his intelligence and Machiavellian traits. His most defining attributes, however, were his prolific insanity and his dark, twisted sense of humor. These traits and actions differed greatly from what, at the time, was the video game villain "norm," and engendered Kefka with a wholly unique personality that won him both admiration from some fans and profound disliking from others. Kefka remains a fan favorite among those who regard the 2D Final Fantasy games (in particular, Final Fantasy VI), as the best of the series. It should also be pointed out that unlike any other Final Fantasy villain, such as Sephiroth or Kuja, Kefka succeeded in what he set out to do. In fact, he may be one of the only RPG villains in history that actually manages to succeed in his goals, defeating the party and destroying the world. It is his second, not his first, set of plans that the player ends up foiling.
Notes
In the original Super Nintendo release of the game (under the name Final Fantasy III), Kefka's maniacal laugh was one of the only "words" in the game to have accompanying audio.
*Smitten fangirl sigh*
Now THAT is a bad guy.
Sephiroth nothin'. My money's on Kefka.

I have been trying to find that for ages!
PS: And Sephiroth is a whiny pansy who should do the world a favor and fall on his own, obviously meant to over-compensate for his shortcomings, phallic sword.

Aww. I remember when I was a kid, one of my 'when i grow up' dreams was to become 6 feet tall, right on the button.
At 5'11": "Almost..."
At 6': "Yes!!"
At 6'2": "..."
At 6'3": "Noooooooo!!!"
Anyways, not freakishly tall, but taller than average. That I stand up straight but have to look down to people when I talk to them gives me a funky- lookin' 'S' posture. I digress.
Whenever I'm making a character, I find it works best for me to have one solid concept or central idea, and then leave the various other aspects of that character's background and life as open as possible. This generally helps because I can focus what minimal creativity I have into a solid definition of what or who that character is and roughly how they became who they are, without boxing myself in with some aspect of their background or character that's lame and I may regret later. If I'm hung up on any aspect of them, instead of mentioning they have nothing in that aspect, I'll just mention nothing period.
A good example would be Lyden, for those few of you that have seen him in action. He was originally made for a friend who one day went to Terminus and I and said "omg lets do team gimmick plox" And aside from me heading the costume design, Lyden was essentially made for him- his only distinguishing trait was his gloomy personality (brought on by his Dark-based powers, lol). Even though he was essentially a supporting role ("Understood, Master."), he started to grow on me, and I started to wonder how he could be developed.
How far had I taken him beforehand? Not very. He had been abducted at a relatively young age, had his memory wiped, and was conditioned under the GSR program into supersoldier-ness. So I started looking to the loose ends I had left for myself. Since his entire life was and is dominated by Greensryche, the logical extension outward would be his family. What the hell kind of family would let their kid get abducted and do nothing about it? Hmm.. maybe he was the product of a broken home? What would the rest of his broken family be like?
I decided on Lyden having a younger brother in their broken little family, Shun Sen. With mommy and daddy dead for various reasons, Lyden's abduction would be one of the last straws that would cause Shun Sen to, left alone, snap and have his mutant powers awaken (woo mind control!). Then, being retarded, I decided I wanted an older brother to exist too that wanted Lyden for more malicious purposes, rather than Shun Sen who just wanted his brother back.
But... I'd already boxed myself in by saying that Shun Sen was left alone. I decided that this 'older brother' would be much much older- already out of the house and living abroad shortly after Shun Sen was born. Shun Sen would have been too young to remember him, and Lyden, who would have remembered him, now has his memories scrubby-scrubbed clean. This older brother, now an established criminal overseas, comes back to the Isles to bring his two brothers into his organization by any means necessary.
So that's my thought process in action- no way am I creative enough to come up with that in a sitting or two.
*realizes he's bored everyone to death* Uhh... c'mon, trophytrophytrophy..
I'm not bored... in fact I write a good portion of my characters in a similar way. Getting a basic framework and building outward from there. Or sometimes I take multiple characters that aren't working and mash them together.
Like Kefetasura... I think he's about three different characters glomped up in one. As was noticed by Essex (gives her a ribbon) his personality is heavily drawn from Kefka, my all time favorite villain. I've been wanting to play a character like him for years and years, but could never manage to find a way to do it where I wasn't just copy/pasting (plaugerizing, ewww!) him over from his original incarnation.
Then, for his backstory, I borrowed parts fom a villian I had created as an antagonist for a V:tM campaign. And the dramatic scene where he is summoned is half Ravnos' awakening from the Week of Nightmares story, half blood cult ritual that gives him his strength that I made up on the spot.
Lastly, his name, Kefetasura, is a blend of Kefka + Zapathasura (The name of the Ravnos clan founder) Since an Asura is a mythological creature in Hinduism, I also tried to keep the vocabulary of Hindu belief sprnkled into his dialogue.
And to better explain his powers for those of you who may be confused...
He is a Mind/Psi/Mu Dominator, though in RP the Mu magic has a blood related aesthetic instead of lightning. The reason he can be in more than one place at a time is because he gains control of the bodies of those whose blood has been sacrificed to him, and his psionic abilities are so expansive that he can easily control several of them in the heat of combat in multiple locations against varied opponents and situations at once.
It would probably take forever for me to explain how I managed to come up with this set of powers by combining all the characters I combined, but if you're willing to trust me, then just believe it makes perfect sense.

Kefka is by far my favorite Final Fantasy villain! He was the greatest ever! I actually argued his case with a friend for near an hour once, citing how he actually beat the heroes in his first plans, unlike pansy Sepiroth, and how he was much more involved in the taking over of the world, which was ultimately way more evil than just blowing it up and killing everyone, like just about every other Final Fantasy baddie seems to want to do!
Ah, yes, I've said time and time again that FF6 should be remade for a next gen system, it was just that good to me. It would look AWESOME now, considering all the cool things they would be able to actually make nice looking! And Kefka is just such a great bad guy... he makes the game! He's so easy to hate, but there's more than just a sense of him being the bad guy that does it.
Yeah, I love villains, especially good ones. Pretty-boy Sepiroth ain't got nothing on Kefka. At least Kefka's got two wings....
